RUSH: Coronado, California. Smokey, I\u2019m glad you waited. Really appreciate your patience. Hello.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Hey, Rush. Several years ago you said that you wanted President Obama to fail. And to be honest at the time you were pilloried by the press, and it did seem very harsh. But I have to say, you know, you look back over time with the Iran deal, the Bergdahl deal, the Auschwitz-like video that appeared in the last couple days from Planned Parenthood, I think now you don\u2019t have to explain why you wanted him to fail. I think now you could just say, I wanted him to fail, and it stands for itself. It came true.<\/p>\n

RUSH: I would hope. I appreciate your commenting and your honesty. I want to be honest with you back. Six years ago, six and a half, I guess, now, when I first said, “I hope he fails,” I had no idea, I really didn\u2019t. I mean, I knew it would anger some people on the left, I knew it would anger some Democrats. I did not realize that it would be judged even by people on my side of the aisle as harsh. I thought everybody on my side of the aisle wanted the same thing I did. Why in the world would we want anything this guy believes in to work or succeed? I thought it was common sense. I was more amused than anything over the outrage that it caused. But now you think all I have to say is, hey, I hoped he failed, and that you think more people now will understand and agree with me?<\/line><\/p>\n

CALLER: Well, Rush, I think so. I honestly think you underestimated him, too. I mean, I don\u2019t think you ever thought he would trade five terrorists for a deserter. I don\u2019t think the IRS scandal, which they were likely involved with, would ever happen in our free society. I think we\u2019ve become desensitized by each — like, what happened with Planned Parenthood, people should watch the video.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Smokey, let me —<\/p>\n

CALLER: You can\u2019t watch that video and not become sickened by it.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Let me jump here. In the first place, on this Planned Parenthood story, what you need to do, all of you, you need to find this story on the Web and read the comments. And I warn you, you had better be steeled, because the anger and vitriol at the people who made the video is palpable. The vast majority of comments to this story on the Web do not believe it. They think it\u2019s a typical conservative lie that has been made up, it isn\u2019t possible, and they are livid, not at Dr. Nucatola or at Planned Parenthood, but at the people they think faked. Now, Smokey, don\u2019t hang up.<\/p>\n

BREAK TRANSCRIPT<\/p>\n

RUSH: We\u2019re back now to Smokey in Coronado. Smokey, I just wanted to tell you one more thing before you go, and it is to correct you. When I said that I hope Obama fails, I want to assure you, I did not underestimate him at all. Now, I didn\u2019t know he was gonna do Bergdahl, of course, nobody had that kind of foresight. But I wasn\u2019t surprised at anything that he has done. And this is the point that I\u2019ve really labored to make with people. All I can do is tell people what I think. <\/p>\n

Nothing he\u2019s done has surprised me, from Obamacare to this Iran deal, nothing has surprised me. It was all telegraphed. The guy is a radical, radical leftist. If you look at who raised him, if you look at who educated him, if you look at who his friends were, all of this was foretold. This has been the most frustrating aspect of this, to be one of maybe 15 people who gets it, who got it from day one. Do you realize what a minority that is? <\/p>\n

I\u2019m so sick and tired of hearing people whine and moan about being in a minority. I\u2019ve been in the biggest minority in this country for six years, the people who get Obama. And no matter what, it has been impossible, because most of the things that I knew, know, expected, people don\u2019t even want to believe it. They don\u2019t want to believe they elected a president that sold us out to Iran. They don\u2019t want to believe they elected a president who has wrecked the US economy. They don\u2019t want to believe they\u2019ve elected a president who has more sympathy with criminals, illegal aliens, and so forth than he does with his own citizens. People don\u2019t want to believe that. <\/p>\n

\"original\"So I was up against long odds at the outset, which is why I simply said — the whole genesis for this, by the way, the Wall Street Journal called and they were asking a bunch of people to write 400-word op-eds, their hopes for the first black president. It was supposed to be such a wonderful thing, and I wrote \u2019em back and said, “I don\u2019t need 400, all I need is four: I hope he fails.” Well, they rejected it because that wouldn\u2019t be an op-ed. That\u2019s a letter to the editor. Anyway, so I told the story and that\u2019s where it all started. <\/line><\/p>\n

But Smokey, it\u2019s not that I\u2019m trying to correct you, I just want you to know, I didn\u2019t underestimate. I couldn\u2019t specifically predict Bergdahl, for example, which is one of the instances you cite, but I have not been surprised by any of this. I have been devastated. I\u2019ve been disappointed. I\u2019ve been saddened. But more so because what Obama has done has so little surprised me. I have been more disappointed and saddened by watching the American people not get it. I cannot tell you how frustrating that has been.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Rush, I have to say, this video, if people watch the video, it\u2019s a low that I cannot believe. I was shocked. And believe me, I have no faith in Planned Parenthood.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Yeah.<\/p>\n

CALLER: But it was horrible. It was Naziesque. I mean, for them to ever refer to the right wing as Nazis from now on, I mean, that video stopped me dead in my tracks. <\/p>\n

RUSH: The New York Times says this video and this story could hurt the GOP for mentioning it, because the social issues destroy Republicans. And the New York Times says that past attempts to defund Planned Parenthood have failed, and that suggested the political danger for the party if the issue is revived. Meaning, it\u2019s exactly what the left and the New York Times say about everything. “You guys had better stop talking about this or it\u2019s gonna kill you. You better stop talking about it or you\u2019re never gonna win another election,” as though they care whether we win another election. They don\u2019t want us to win another election. <\/p>\n

They want us to shut up about this stuff because they are vulnerable on it. So they come out and they warn us, “You know, you guys better drop this. Look at how it\u2019s hurting.” And then our numskull moderates read this stuff in the New York Times and then they call me and say, “You better stop talking about the social issues, you\u2019re killing us, the social issues are killing the party.” <\/p>\n

“How do you know?” <\/p>\n

“The New York Times says so.” <\/p>\n

“Oh, really?” <\/p>\n

“Yes.” So that\u2019s how this stuff builds.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Yeah. Rush, an election is being served on a platter to the Republicans.<\/p>\n

RUSH: It is. And I\u2019m gonna tell you, Carly Fiorina, Scott Walker, Carly Fiorina, Scott Walker, Carly Fiorina, Scott Walker. And some others we could throw in the list, too. Anyway, Smokey, I\u2019m glad you called. <\/p>\n

\"large\"Snerdley\u2019s asking me how I think the tech bloggers would react. That\u2019s not hard. They won\u2019t be moved by it at all. This is the thing. I warned everybody before I began this that if you expect this to be a mind-changer or a game-changer, it isn\u2019t gonna be. That\u2019s not how the left works. When something happens that really exposes them and really raises their vulnerability levels, what do they do? They double down on the attacks of those making the news, the information public. They try to discredit it. They attack and impugn those who — like I tell you, read the comments of this story that\u2019s posted at lifenews.com, there\u2019s any number of places you can go. <\/line><\/p>\n

Just find a version of this story that\u2019s not AP. Find a version of this story that thinks what happened is horrible and then look at the comments. You will find a bunch of anger pro-choicers who either don\u2019t believe it, that the video was doctored, edited, and made up, it\u2019s not real, it\u2019s a cheap trick. Some people are gonna be moved by it. I don\u2019t mean to say that it\u2019s not gonna have any impact at all, but it\u2019s not gonna have the impact it should, for a host of reasons. Which, you know, I don\u2019t want to get into them because all that does is just add to the confidence of the left. So just leave it for what it is. <\/p>\n

I\u2019m just telling you that the reaction you will hope to see, you\u2019re not gonna see it very much. You\u2019ll see some outrage, but you\u2019re not gonna see, “Gosh, you know, I used to think abortion was no big deal, but after this, oh, my God, never.” You\u2019re not gonna see any of that, folks. You\u2019re not gonna see that. That\u2019s not how the left reacts to stuff that skewers them, exposes them, which is what this does. I mean, this is an expose par excellence. You\u2019re not gonna have anybody resign at Planned Parenthood. You\u2019re not gonna have anybody admitting any guilt. The AP is covering it up by not even calling it what it is. It\u2019s just disposal of fetal waste, or fetal tissue, what have you. <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
