RUSH: Yeah, yeah, yeah. I\u2019ll repeat it. I said the first hour… Snerdley\u2019s asking me to repeat something I would like to see. The first Democrat debate\u2019s October did you say the 13th? (interruption) Well, it\u2019s somewhere there. It\u2019s in Nevada. And is it the 13th? (interruption) It\u2019s my mother\u2019s birthday. Anyway… It\u2019s Margaret Thatcher\u2019s birthday, too. Anyway. You know, after the Fox debate and the first round of questions to Trump, there were a lot of people saying, “You know, that kind of stuff, nobody ever asked Democrat candidates that kind of stuff.” <\/p>\n

Well, I\u2019ve got a way, I\u2019ve got a way it can be done. You need a female moderator. Take your pick. It could be Cokie Roberts, could be Andrea Mitchell (NBC News, Washington). You need maybe a male moderator, actually, just to reverse things, just to keep it consistent. Mrs. Clinton, it\u2019s time for the first question of the debate on CNN, and the moderator says, “Mrs. Clinton, let me mention seven names to you: Paula Jones, Juanita Broaddrick, Kathleen Willey, Gennifer Flowers, Monica Lewinsky, Beth Dozoretz, Denise Rich.” <\/p>\n

Of course the crowd would be booing and hissing and Mrs. Clinton would be frowning and trying to fake a smile while that\u2019s going on, then the moderator says, “Now, tell us, how can you look at anyone with a straight face? Paula Jones, Juanita Broaddrick, Kathleen Willey, Gennifer Flowers, Beth Dozoretz, Denise Rich, Monica Lewinsky. How could you look at anybody with a straight face and talk to them about family values when It Takes a Village to satisfy your husband?” <\/p>\n

You don\u2019t think that the Drive-By Media would be all over that moderator. That\u2019d be the last debate that moderator would ever do. (chuckles) I have no idea what Hillary would do with the question. But, I mean, if we want to have tit-for-tat, if we want to see similar treatment which people have told me, “We never see something like this in a Democrat debate,” this is a way we could see it. (interruption) It\u2019s Tuesday, October 13th. Okay. Put it on the calendar. We have to do that. CNN will be doing a countdown, a minute-by-minute countdown for three days prior so we don\u2019t have to put it on the calendar. <\/line><\/p>\n

Here\u2019s Bob, Brunswick, Georgia, great you called, welcome to the EIB Network, sir. Hello.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Hi, Rush. How are you today?<\/p>\n

RUSH: Very well. Thank you.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Good, good. Hey, listen, I just want to make a comment. You know, I really want to support Trump, and, you know, he\u2019s been saying a lot of things that we\u2019ve been waiting for and, you know, it\u2019s kind of exciting and a different time in politics. We haven\u2019t seen this probably ever. I want to trust that he\u2019s an honest broker. I want to trust that he\u2019s an honest broker, but, you know, he has had many different positions over the years. My issue is that the phone call. There\u2019s never a coincidence with the Clintons, and Bill\u2019s phone call to encourage Trump to run?<\/p>\n

RUSH: Oh, yeah.<\/p>\n

CALLER: That\u2019s really a large wall that I have to climb to get over to support him. I don\u2019t want to be a conspiracy theorist. But don\u2019t you think what\u2019s happening right now, all the dustup with Trump — especially the first question in the debate — plays right into the Clintons\u2019 hands that they\u2019re just loving that?<\/p>\n

RUSH: Well, now, that\u2019s a secondary thing. Let me think about that.<\/line><\/p>\n

CALLER: Yeah, there were a few of them there.<\/p>\n

RUSH: The first question: Plays into the Clintons\u2019 hands. What do you mean?<\/p>\n

CALLER: The raise-your-hand question.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Oh, the raise-your-hand question on third-party business?<\/p>\n

CALLER: Yes.<\/p>\n

RUSH: I was thinking the other question about the names he\u2019s called women.<\/p>\n

CALLER: No, no, no, no, no, no, no. Again, I like him slapping political correctness in the face and not backing down on it.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Right, right.<\/p>\n

CALLER: But what I\u2019m saying is the phone call bothers me because there\u2019s no coincidences with the Clintons. There\u2019s none, and for him to make a phone call to Trump before he decides to get in and then all of a sudden he gets in and seeing what\u2019s happening now and all the dustup… I mean, that debate was full of substance but all we\u2019re talking about is Trump, you know? To me, it just plays right into the Clintons\u2019 hands. You know, if the potential of him going a third party, it\u2019s, “Hello, Hillary in the White House.”<\/p>\n

RUSH: That\u2019s a legitimate concern, and a lot of people have it.<\/p>\n

CALLER: So I want to know what you think. I want to know — considering what you told us for 28 years, that there are no coincidences when it comes to the Clintons — what do you think?<\/p>\n

RUSH: Well, you\u2019re asking me if I think that there is a Clinton-Trump cabal that has been arranged behind the scenes —<\/p>\n

CALLER: I don\u2019t know.<\/p>\n

RUSH: — and Trump is doing at the behest of, the wishes of the Clintons to sabotage the Republican campaign and field in two, is that the setup?<\/p>\n

CALLER: Well, I don\u2019t want to be a conspiracy theorist.<\/p>\n

RUSH: That\u2019s not conspiracy. That\u2019s political strategy, not conspiracy theory. Hey, just \u2019cause you\u2019re paranoid doesn\u2019t mean they\u2019re not out to get you.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Yeah, yeah. Well, I just find it a little bit suspect, you know?<\/p>\n

RUSH: Well, here, hang on a minute. I\u2019m gonna make you own this question. Hang on through the break here. I will come back here and tackle this. I want to get to the real meaning of your question.<\/p>\n

BREAK TRANSCRIPT<\/p>\n

RUSH: Now back to Bob in Brunswick, Georgia. Bob, let\u2019s review what we know about that phone call.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Okay.<\/p>\n

RUSH: There are two versions of that phone call. The Trump version of the phone call is… Wait a minute, I\u2019m not sure there\u2019s a Trump version. The Clinton version of the phone call is, “Yeah, we made a call. We didn\u2019t talk about the campaign. It was just a courtesy call. I didn\u2019t talk about, didn\u2019t urge him to do anything.” The other people talking about the call say that Clinton did call and urged Trump to go for it; Republican Party needs new juice. The conservative movement needs new juice or whatever. <\/p>\n

Two thoughts on this, Bob, honestly. <\/p>\n

I really believe that the fact that we have heard about that call means it didn\u2019t happen. If that call had really happened, if Bill Clinton had really called… Like you\u2019ve asking me, if Bill Clinton call called Donald Trump and told Donald Trump — made a deal with him — to run, to screw the Republican Party, make sure he ran as a third-party candidate to give it to Hillary, we would have never heard about it. We would have never heard about that. The phone call leak came from Clinton aides. The fact we\u2019ve heard about this call came from a leak by Clinton aides. Now, let me give —<\/p>\n

CALLER: If Trump\u2019s so honest, why doesn\u2019t he just say the phone call never happened?<\/p>\n

RUSH: I don\u2019t know. I\u2019m not sure how he\u2019s dealt with it. Has he commented on this at all?<\/line><\/p>\n

CALLER: I don\u2019t know if he has or not, but I haven\u2019t heard him say… I mean, believe me: If the phone call didn\u2019t happen, I would think Donald Trump would say, “The phone call never happened.” Like he\u2019s been doing. Like he\u2019s been, you know, being honest with everything else. He would have said immediately, “The phone call never happened.” Why didn\u2019t he?<\/p>\n

RUSH: I just think if all of this is a deep Clinton ploy to get Trump in the race, they wouldn\u2019t want to undermine the whole thing early on like this by leaking this and alerting everybody\u2019s attention to it such as yours. But on the other side –<\/p>\n

CALLER: (interrupting)<\/p>\n

RUSH: Now, wait just a second, now. Are you aware of how close to the Bush family the Clintons are? Particularly Bill Clinton?<\/p>\n

CALLER: Oh, sure.<\/p>\n

RUSH: I don\u2019t know if you are. Bill Clinton goes to Kennebunkport every August.<\/p>\n

CALLER: I\u2019m sorry, go ahead.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Barbara Bush has called Bill Clinton a son she never had.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Right.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Bill Clinton and the Bush family are tied, ever since Obama sent \u2019em on this charity, this tsunami thing. Bush 41 and Clinton, and Bush 43 and Clinton have gotten pretty close. What\u2019s to say that Clinton didn\u2019t call Jeb and urge Jeb on?<\/p>\n

CALLER: Well —<\/p>\n

RUSH: We don\u2019t know. But look, as I say, you\u2019re not being a conspiracy theorist. I mean, we know that there was a phone call.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Yeah.<\/p>\n

RUSH: We think the Clintons leaked that there was a phone call.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Well, if you ever interview Trump, ask him what exactly was the story. Did he encourage you or didn\u2019t he? You know, to me it seems like a situation where there\u2019s no point —<\/p>\n

RUSH: How do you think Trump would answer that? I can tell you right now how he\u2019d answer that.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Well, if he didn\u2019t make the phone call, he\u2019d say the phone call never happened.<\/p>\n

RUSH: No, no. Trump\u2019s people said it happened.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Oh. Well, I don\u2019t know how he\u2019d answer it.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Well, I can think —<\/p>\n

CALLER: That\u2019s why you\u2019re here.<\/p>\n

RUSH: I can think of any number of ways. Somebody tell me what the website is. You guys print things out. Oh, it\u2019s CNN\u2019s website. “Trump Denies Bill Clinton Talked Him into Running.” Let\u2019s see. “Donald Trump said Friday that a phone call he had with former President Bill Clinton had no bearing on his decision to seek the White House, despite coming several weeks before he kicked off his bid. ‘My mind was already totally made up. I was already running, essentially,\u2019 Trump told CNN\u2019s Don Lemon on CNN Tonight, saying [he] was ‘Hillary\u2019s worst nightmare.\u2019<\/p>\n

“‘We didn\u2019t really discuss it,\u2019 Trump said,” whether he was running or not. By the way, the Clinton people who leaked the call also said that they didn\u2019t talk about Trump\u2019s campaign or Trump running or anything. But I know that doesn\u2019t erase your concern. You\u2019re sitting there some legitimate concern because Trump won\u2019t take the pledge, right?<\/line><\/p>\n

CALLER: Right, right. Right. Well, we\u2019ll see, Rush. We\u2019ll see.<\/p>\n

RUSH: That\u2019s answer —<\/p>\n

CALLER: It\u2019s a long campaign.<\/p>\n

RUSH: That\u2019s exactly right.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Wait 16 more months, and we\u2019ll see what happens, so I appreciate it, Rush, and I appreciate your 28 years which I\u2019ve been here for.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Thank you very much.<\/p>\n

CALLER: It\u2019s been great.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Let me ask you another question.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Sure.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Not a trick question, and it may sound silly. What do you think has a better chance of happening: Trump getting out of the race or Hillary not finishing the race?<\/p>\n

CALLER: Wow, that\u2019s a good question. That\u2019s a really good question.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Because all this is predicated on Hillary\u2019s the nominee, right? And it may not be in stone yet. I mean, you take a look here, and there\u2019s all kinds of forces mounting out there in opposition to her and her polling data is plummeting. It\u2019s fading. The bloom\u2019s off the rose here. There\u2019s nothing automatic about her nomination right now.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Well, don\u2019t you think it\u2019s still kind of a long shot for anyone, including Bernie Sanders, or Joe Biden?<\/p>\n

RUSH: No.<\/p>\n

CALLER: I mean, realistically?<\/p>\n

RUSH: I do not.<\/p>\n

CALLER: You don\u2019t think it\u2019s a long shot.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Nope. Nope. Not — \u2019cause of 2008.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Okay.<\/p>\n

RUSH: I don\u2019t think it\u2019s a long shot at all that Mrs. Clinton\u2019s not the nominee. I wouldn\u2019t say the odds are that she\u2019s not the nominee, but I don\u2019t think it\u2019s a long shot that she\u2019s not the nominee. It\u2019s happened once. She was on the way to being coronated. By the way, in 2008, she was arguably more destined to get the nomination than she is this year, and it didn\u2019t take much to split the Democrat Party down the middle. You look at these crowds that Bernie Sanders is drawing.<\/line><\/p>\n

And there\u2019s a common denominator in 2008 and 2000, well, \u201915, \u201916. Here we are 2015, and the common denominator is, whenever anybody in a Democrat primary other than Hillary Clinton gets into it, there is rabid enthusiasm for \u2019em. There was rabid enthusiasm for Barack Hussein O. There is building, rabid enthusiasm for Bernie Sanders. You\u2019ve the also got O\u2019Malley out there lurking and Biden possibly. You just said it. It\u2019s really, really early. <\/p>\n

Front-runners this early really have only one direction they can go. I mean, when you\u2019re at the top, what happens? “Hillary spokeswoman…” This is from August 6th in The Politico. “Hillary Spokeswoman: Bill Clinton Did Not Give Donald Trump Advice.” This is my point, folks. If this happened, nobody\u2019s gonna own up to it. If Bill Clinton called and made a deal with Trump to run and if he doesn\u2019t get the nomination go third party and steering everything to Hillary, nobody\u2019s gonna admit that. But they do admit that the phone call happened. So I understand your concern about this. <\/p>\n

Like I say: Just because you\u2019re paranoid, does not mean they\u2019re not out to get you.<\/p>\n

BREAK TRANSCRIPT<\/p>\n

RUSH: Folks, Hillary might even be indicted before election time, for all we know. Not that that would hurt her. It\u2019s very, very difficult for Democrats to run afoul of the law, and even when they do, it doesn\u2019t seem to hurt them. If people knew the truth about this woman — I mean, going all the way back to the bimbo eruptions stuff, the Arkansas move forward — how she enabled Clinton to behave with all of these women and destroy some of their lives?<\/p>\n

She was the enabler. She was the one that led the charge crediting these women. That to this e-mail stuff, the server, the fact that the ChiComs have hacked so much of our government computer system, Russian reset, Benghazi? The fact that this woman has not been damaged by any of this, seriously, is a testament to the power of pop culture in this country. That\u2019s why all bets are off here. <\/p>\n

Let\u2019s face it: The pop culture is part and parcel of Trump\u2019s staying power as well, although his I think is owing to much more than pop culture. As I discussed, there\u2019s a deep, deep, deep reservoir of unrequited anger on the part of, I think, at least half of the voting population of this country, livid over the last seven years. <\/p>\n

BREAK TRANSCRIPT<\/p>\n

RUSH: Here\u2019s Jerry in Eugene, Oregon. Great to have you on the program, Jerry. Hello.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Good morning, Rush. You know, I\u2019ve been hearing some of Trump\u2019s old interviews with him talking about how liberal he is, his gay rights and abortion support.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Yeah?<\/p>\n

CALLER: And makes me think he\u2019d make a really good conservative Democrat. If he was to switch parties right now while he\u2019s on top, get his nose in the door before Hillary\u2019s indicted, who would stop him from getting the Democrat nomination?<\/p>\n

RUSH: Yeah. (sigh) There\u2019s no such thing right now as a successful conservative Democrat.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Well, the Trump\u2019s breaking all the rules.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Yeah, but not in their party. He\u2019s breaking the rules in the Republican Party. He\u2019s not breaking the rules the Democrat Party.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Yeah, but that\u2019s \u2019cause he\u2019s not there.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Well, but even if he were… Okay, this is a new one.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Just a thought.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Look, I understand this. Let\u2019s just put this out there, okay, because time here is dwindling and this is the second call in this half hour that has a central theme to it that the caller is not voicing. I\u2019m gonna put it out there: “Trump is a fake. Trump is a fraud. He isn\u2019t who he says he is. One of these days, everybody\u2019s gonna wake up and see it, and what if this is true, Rush? What if I\u2019m right? What if Trump is a fraud? What if he really is a Democrat? What if the Clintons really did make a deal with him?<\/p>\n

“What if he really is pro-choice? What if he really is pro-gay marriage, pro-gay rights? What if he is pulling the wool over everybody\u2019s eyes? What do we do then, Rush?” That\u2019s what these two callers have said. My answer is: Let it play out, folks. It\u2019s early and the people who are going to finish at the top of this thing will finish at the top. Substance will win out here; I have confidence in it. It\u2019s just early here. All these what-ifs, there are no way of knowing. But if they manifest as doubts, then your decision\u2019s made: Trump\u2019s not your guy at this point. <\/p>\n
