Hi.<\/p>\n<p>CALLER:  Rush, I gotta tell you, February 24th, 2016, was one of the best days of my life.  Thank you for taking my phone call.<\/p>\n<p>RUSH:  Well, you bet. Thank you, Ruth.<\/p>\n<p>CALLER:  Man.  I\u2019ve been listening for 24 years.  I came to your TV show! I snuck in at age 14. You were supposed to be 17. I thank you for everything you\u2019ve done.  You\u2019re really, really amazing.  And I just want to say quickly, a real pat on the back to your last caller.  I went through my higher education as a musician and an education major, and it is so difficult dealing with the radical left, which is basically the entire education and music industry.  I\u2019m calling as a former Trumpster. <\/p>\n<p><img id=\"eZObject_118537\" class=\"aligncenter\" align=\"middle\" src=\"https:\/\/live-rush-limbaugh.pantheonsite.io\/wp-content\/uploads\/Trump-Hat-NEW-PhonesWeGo-B.jpg\"\/><BR\/>Before, you said that the Drive-By Media is scratching their heads at the rise of evangelicals supporting Trump, and I have to tell you: I\u2019m scratching my head as well.  I\u2019m not evangelical, I\u2019m not part of the Drive-By Media, and I\u2019ve done a lot of soul-searching in trying to figure out what is at the core of this.  I, too, supported Trump because I want to win.  I see what liberalism can do, whether it\u2019s student loans or what it\u2019s done to my health insurance.  I\u2019ve seen it, and I want it to end, and I want to win this election.<\/line><\/p>\n<p>RUSH:  Right.<\/p>\n<p>CALLER:  Having said that, Trump is not a conservative as you have so brilliantly pointed out and given numerous examples of.  And this response to him is an emotional response.  It\u2019s one I know well because I\u2019ve seen it on the left my whole life.  And we are not going to change the minds of these people, as you have said about many social issues, for example.  However, I noticed this Friday night at my Shabbat dinner&#8230;<\/p>\n<p>I had people over, big Trump supporters, and I spoke to them.  And they said, &#8220;We gotta change things. We gotta change,&#8221; and they\u2019re talking from their heart.  I said to them, &#8220;Okay, what\u2019s gonna happen the next? Not today, and not tomorrow. Three, four, five, ten years?  You can\u2019t just think about your emotional response now.  There\u2019s the Supreme Court we have to think of. There are judges that are being appointed to the bench, and not only that&#8230;&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>RUSH:  You know, Ruth&#8230; Ruth, let me tell you. You are referring to something that\u2019s been a very frustrating thing for me for my entire career, and it\u2019s how to get to people who are emotionally attached to anything. An issue, a candidate, or whatever.  It\u2019s the reason Democrats are winning and Republican are losing.  Republicans do not have a way to make an emotional connection to people.  Trump does, obviously.  There\u2019s this old adage I\u2019ve been using lately.  <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/live-rush-limbaugh.pantheonsite.io\/?p=4167\">&#8220;People will forget what you say but they will never forget how you make \u2019em feel.&#8221;<\/a><\/p>\n<p><img id=\"eZObject_118572\" class=\"alignright\" align=\"right\" src=\"https:\/\/live-rush-limbaugh.pantheonsite.io\/wp-content\/uploads\/511957056_large.jpg\"\/><BR\/>So you\u2019re not gonna talk people out of it. You can\u2019t talk somebody out of it. A woman that\u2019s in love with a guy that beats her up, you can\u2019t talk her out of it; we know this.  You\u2019re not gonna be able to talk these people out of things.  It\u2019s the wrong way to go about it.  I\u2019ve been trying for 27 years off and on in different ways.  And it\u2019s very&#8230; It\u2019s frustrating.  The key to this is a different emotional connection that resonates with them more, or turning this emotional connection they have into fear rather than adulation and love. <\/line><\/p>\n<p>It\u2019s a really, really tough thing. <\/p>\n<p>Whoever comes up with this answer is gonna become very famous and very rich, and they\u2019re gonna get every political consultant job there is to get. <\/p>\n<p>And I appreciate the call. <\/p>\n<p>BREAK TRANSCRIPT<\/p>\n<p>RUSH:  I was not comparing Trump supporters to abused wives.  That was not the analogy, and anybody that heard me knows exactly what I was saying.
