KEN: I am your guide for today. I don\u2019t know if you saw the big speech — well, it really wasn\u2019t a big speech. I think that when Joe Biden spoke yesterday, he was talking about massive spending plans, but that\u2019s pretty much every speech he gives, is it not? The speeches are usually like, “Well, what do I do now?” or “Where am I?” or “We\u2019re gonna spend a lot of your money!”<\/p>\n

Yesterday\u2019s part of it included free community college in the big, massive spending plans. You know, it all starts with the covid relief package, and then somehow it gets to way over the top. And this is from Center Square: “Biden promoted free community college for all Americans and DREAMers.” So now we got the DREAMers involved.<\/p>\n

\"\"The thing that was so impressive yesterday, I thought — I mean, kudos to Mr. Biden — is he got through three sentences without making a mistake, which is, let\u2019s face it… Come on! That is a big deal. Or, as Biden would say, “a big (blank)ing deal.” “He spoke at Tidewater Community College in Norfolk, Virginia, to promote his proposal, which would provide — among other things — $109 billion” of our tax money that he\u2019ll pretend he gave to future voters “for tuition-free community college.”<\/p>\n

BIDEN: Just think about it in terms of, “What\u2019s better for America?”not Democrat, Republican, individual. What\u2019s going to grow America more? What\u2019s going to grow America more? What\u2019s going to make us more competitive, stronger? What\u2019s going to make us better educated? So for folks at home, I like to ask a question. Do we want to give the wealthiest people in America another tax cut, or do you want to give every high school graduate the ability to earn a community college degree?<\/p>\n

KEN: You know the thing about — and I was talking to one of our team members here at team EIB Network and we were talking about paying for college and the thing about the term “free college.” First of all, that\u2019s the biggest mistake people make in America the way that\u2019s characterized. There is nothing that is free, and when it comes to the government, that\u2019s definitely not free.<\/p>\n

It\u2019s our money. There\u2019s nothing that\u2019s free. So when someone says, “I got this free money from the government,” no. It\u2019s your money given back to you, as next week is tax week, if I\u2019m not mistaken, because of the delay it\u2019s the 15th of May or whatever. It\u2019s either your money given back to you and then we\u2019ve potty trained generations saying, “Oh, man, I\u2019m so stoked. Look at the money I got back.”<\/p>\n

It\u2019s your money! Okay? (cuckles) That\u2019s one part of it. The other part of it, every time Joe Biden or Kamala Harris or Barack Obama or Nancy Pelosi says, “We\u2019re gonna give you all of this stuff,” it just means, “We\u2019re gonna target other members, other hardworking members of America — maybe even your neighbor — and we\u2019re gonna take their money and we\u2019re gonna give it to you.” That\u2019s so frustrating.<\/p>\n

What we were talking about is the difference between people that are doing something on a free ride versus paying for it themselves. Whether it\u2019s your kids paying for their car, your kids helping out with room and board, your kids helping out with insurance, whatever it may be — or, in the case of college, your kids borrowing money, paying it back, or working or whatever.<\/p>\n

There\u2019s definitely a distinct difference between the way people treat anything, whether it\u2019s a service or a product, if it\u2019s free versus if they had to save. Now, some of you have experienced schools in session all year. For example, there\u2019s a couple free states still out there. Florida is a free state. Texas is a free state. A lot of the blue states, sadly, are occupied.<\/p>\n

We warned you.<\/p>\n

Some are just now seeing those schools reengage. Florida and Texas, they\u2019ve been open for a while. Now, the teachers unions, they continue to politicize the science. See, this covid thing was a boon for teachers unions \u2019cause now they could say, “You know, now that I think about it I\u2019d really like to stay at home by the pool and teach the kids virtually. You know, I\u2019ll just put up a little board next to the pool.”<\/p>\n

This would come as no surprise to Rush, as they have always politicized the science.<\/a><\/p>\n

RUSH: Here\u2019s Taylor Ridge, Illinois. Here is Colby, and it\u2019s great to have you with us. Hello.<\/p>\n

CALLER: So I\u2019m 17 years old, and it\u2019s my senior year in high school. And our school is actually supposed to start today, but the day before everything got delayed with COVID, people saying they have it, everyone\u2019s self-isolating. Do you think left-leaning teachers, schools, and unions are purposely delaying schools so the kids can\u2019t get to school?<\/p>\n

RUSH: Well, in the case of teachers unions, I don\u2019t think it\u2019s a matter do I think. I think they are. I think they\u2019re being pretty vocal about the fact that they don\u2019t want to go back because of the risk. And they\u2019re demanding all kinds of I think new benefits or things.<\/p>\n

Colby, you\u2019re 17 years old. And I don\u2019t want to shock you, but I think all of this, pretty much any effort to delay the reopening of the country, reopening of the schools, getting the economy going, everything is political in nature. There\u2019s a political explanation for every question that you will have.<\/p>\n

It\u2019s a sad thing. It\u2019s a sad reality because politics has the ability to corrupt. And that\u2019s one of the dangers we face. So the short answer to your question is that, yeah, I think a lot of people are trying to delay this to harm the Trump reelection effort. They\u2019re trying to delay it because they might be scared.<\/p>\n

They\u2019re trying to delay it because they\u2019re just general malcontents and so forth. Yeah. I\u2019m glad you called. I appreciate it.<\/p>\n
