BRETT: There\u2019s a very interesting story coming out of New York state, and I\u2019m actually very excited about this because I\u2019m a believer in Second Amendment. I believe in all the amendments to the Bill of Rights, okay? I\u2019m a big supporter of all of them, especially the 10th. But on the Second Amendment, the Supreme Court\u2019s gonna hear a Second Amendment gun rights case that could be huge.<\/p>\n

It could be huge. “The U.S. Supreme Court will soon consider whether Americans can be legally prohibited from carrying a firearm in public under the Second Amendment, as the court announced Monday it will take up a challenge to New York\u2019s restrictions on concealed carry licenses in the name of self-defense.<\/p>\n

“The case, New York State Rifle & Pistol Association Inc. v. Corlett, concerns whether New York can legally prohibit people from carrying a gun outside the home without a license, and challenges the state\u2019s practice of refusing licenses to those who can\u2019t show they have ‘proper cause\u2019 to carry a firearm,” because that\u2019s an interpretable phrase, right?<\/p>\n

“Do you have ‘proper cause\u2019?”<\/p>\n

“Well, yes. My ex-husband wants to kill me, my ex-wife is coming after, whatever it is. The states then just use that to say: No, can\u2019t have it, you can\u2019t have it. It\u2019s not gonna be for you.<\/p>\n
