BRETT: One of the things that Rush has always just had his absolute finger on is this idea of what tax-and-spend governors, tax-and-spend mayors, tax-and-spend presidents, what they have as number one in their priority list. And what is it? Of course, it\u2019s taxing and then spending. Your money, not their money. Rush absolutely nailed Andrew Cuomo last year, talking about what he had planned (laughs) for New York City.<\/p>\n

We\u2019ve now seen this budget drop in the overnight hours: “Governor Cuomo and Albany leaders reach a deal on $212 billion in budgeted money in the state of New York,” $4 billion in tax hikes! And you\u2019re seeing — right up front, as clearly as possible — a deterioration, a loss of quality of life. I don\u2019t even know if there is a quality of life left in the city of New York, in the state of New York, with what Cuomo and de Blasio have been doing.<\/p>\n

Well, here\u2019s Rush on how it is Cuomo ruined New York City real estate.<\/a><\/p>\n

RUSH: If Governor Cuomo\u2019s not careful, he\u2019s gonna ruin the commercial real estate business in New York. You know what\u2019s happening right now in New York? Because of the stay-at-home order being extended and because of work from home, a bunch of people — this happening in San Francisco too. The tech companies. Google, Facebook, Twitter.<\/p>\n

\"\"They\u2019ve all shut down their primary campuses in Silicon Valley, in places like Cupertino, some of the other cities. And people are working from home. And what these people working from home are realizing is they don\u2019t need to pay exorbitant San Francisco rent because they don\u2019t need to live there anymore to do their jobs. It\u2019s been established.<\/p>\n

They haven\u2019t been going to the office since March. The same thing\u2019s happening in New York. People that live in Connecticut who commute to Manhattan every day are realizing they don\u2019t have to go back to Manhattan ever to do their jobs. And if you don\u2019t have to go back to Manhattan, you don\u2019t have to live in Connecticut, and you don\u2019t have to pay massive Connecticut taxes. And you don\u2019t have to share the tax burden with New York.<\/p>\n

And then if you\u2019re not going into Manhattan for your job, the company doesn\u2019t need to be renting all that commercial real estate space. If these people are not careful, these governors, they\u2019re gonna destroy the essence of what the blue states are. They\u2019re going to destroy these urban areas where massive blocks of Democrat voters live — and this massive block of Democrat voters is gonna scram.<\/p>\n
