RUSH: Thank you.<\/p>\n

CALLER: How you doing?<\/p>\n

RUSH: Very well, sir. Thanks very much.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Yeah, I\u2019m a retired Pima County sheriff\u2019s deputy. I retired back in \u201995, and I just wanted to share with you —<\/p>\n

RUSH: Wait just a second. When was Sheriff Dupnik elected?<\/p>\n

CALLER: He was elected back in — actually he assumed the position back in 1980s. <\/p>\n

RUSH: No, no, no, I don\u2019t mean assumed the position. When did he become sheriff?<\/p>\n

CALLER: Back in the 1980s. He was a chief —<\/p>\n

RUSH: So you served with Sheriff Dupnik while he was sheriff?<\/p>\n

CALLER: Yes, sir, I did.<\/p>\n

RUSH: That\u2019s what I was trying to establish.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Yes, sir.<\/p>\n

RUSH: What position did he assume?<\/p>\n

CALLER: Well, from my recollection of what happened at the time, he was the chief deputy under Sheriff Boykin.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Okay.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Yeah.<\/p>\n

RUSH: So you served with Dupnik when he was the head honcho?<\/p>\n

CALLER: Yes, sir. I was a line deputy.<\/p>\n

RUSH: All right.<\/p>\n

CALLER: And so what I wanted to bring out was something that was hammered down to us in our training, and it was also in our handbook, which stated that you can not, as an officer or a departmental personnel offer your opinions officiously to the public. That meant that you could not go out there and offer up your opinions before the press or before the public.<\/p>\n

RUSH: As a working member of the department?<\/p>\n

CALLER: Yes, sir, exactly. And one of the things that he is doing right now, I mean other than this case and him carrying water for Janet Napolitano, is that he\u2019s out there offering up his opinions. So he\u2019s a hypocrite, to say the least, and he\u2019s violating his own rules and regulations.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Is this new for Sheriff Dupnik? He\u2019s only come to the attention of the nation given the Gabrielle Giffords episode, but you say he\u2019s been carrying Big Sis\u2019s water, which that\u2019s a big jug, for quite a while. Has he been public politically during local and state issues that we haven\u2019t heard about nationally?<\/p>\n

CALLER: Well, as far as I know, he\u2019s always shot from the hip. He\u2019s always offered up his opinions —<\/p>\n

RUSH: Has he seemed to be a guy who likes media attention, the limelight?<\/p>\n

CALLER: Oh, yes, he does. And he\u2019s got a liberal type of agenda. In fact, his campaign manager for all these years has been a very left-wing liberal type of individual. What you have in Pima County, which is normally a conservative type of area, there\u2019s an influx of people, I call \u2019em the crunchy granola crowd —<\/p>\n

RUSH: Oh, yeah.<\/p>\n

CALLER: — there from California, so they\u2019ve relocated there.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Yeah.<\/p>\n

CALLER: And, you know, with all their cosmic energy and everything, and they\u2019re the ones who are big donors and they\u2019re keeping this individual in power. He should retire. That\u2019s just my position.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Well, he\u2019s way beyond the bounds of civility here, there\u2019s no question. Let me ask you this. Sheriff Dupnik was really railing yesterday against the rich. He didn\u2019t know it, but he was criticizing Obama. Obama was the one who spearheaded the notion of maintaining the current Bush tax rates, yet Sheriff Dupnik was ripping those who cared only about the rich. What kind of money does the sheriff in Pima County make?<\/p>\n

CALLER: Well, I really can\u2019t say exactly how much he would get. It\u2019s an elected position, and —<\/p>\n

RUSH: So it\u2019s like 120 grand plus whatever you can take under the table?<\/p>\n

CALLER: Oh, I\u2019m certain that it\u2019s at least that much. I\u2019m sure he\u2019s made his fair share of money off of the position. I mean we\u2019re talking about 30 years here, so he probably has a sizeable bank account.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Yeah. I\u2019m just kidding about that. I mean that\u2019s the joke about all politicians. I never heard of Sheriff Dupnik until this all came up. But that doesn\u2019t surprise me. You got the brie-and-croissant crowd, or the chum chuckers as you talk about \u2019em —<\/p>\n

CALLER: Yeah.<\/p>\n

RUSH: — who have invaded your conservative county and given us a perpetual election of this law enforcement official? <\/p>\n

CALLER: Yes. Could I make an observation about it?<\/p>\n

RUSH: Oh, yes, please do.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Well, a lot of people don\u2019t know because Hollyweird is always giving a slanted version of what happened with regard to Tombstone and the infamous OK Corral. A lot of people don\u2019t know that Wyatt Earp was actually a Pima County deputy when he killed the Clantons at the OK Corral.<\/p>\n

RUSH: You are kidding me.<\/p>\n

CALLER: I\u2019m serious. If you go back in history you\u2019ll find this out. They always say that he was a Tombstone town marshal. He was not. And basically what happened is Cochise County, the political lines were being drawn at the time back in —<\/p>\n

RUSH: Well, good gosh, no wonder. With this kind of disinformation about Wyatt Earp, this explains a lot.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Doesn\u2019t it? And then what happened is immediately following that, of course, you know, Wyatt Earp did have a feud going on with the Clantons —<\/p>\n

RUSH: Yeah.<\/p>\n

CALLER: — and he knew that he was about to lose his power because Pima County would have been outside that jurisdiction, so then he went to the federal marshals and enlisted and became a federal marshal so that he would maintain his jurisdiction in Tombstone. And a lot of people don\u2019t know that.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Yeah.<\/p>\n

CALLER: And actually I have a history book from Pima County sheriff\u2019s department that shows a picture of Wyatt Earp and it has his signature in there.<\/p>\n

RUSH: So the bottom line is your county has been targeted by Hollywood for who knows how long. Well, this explains so much. I am so glad that you called, Bob. Thanks.
