RUSH: This is Emerson. Nice to have you with us, sir. Hello.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Thank you for taking my call.<\/p>\n

RUSH: You bet, sir.<\/p>\n

CALLER: I was upset I didn\u2019t know how to get enough people excited or upset with their politicians. For Americans, the DREAM Act is a nightmare, and $8.2 billion being spent on illegal kids to go to college. How many children are just dying to go to college in their own country and can\u2019t afford it? And I just can\u2019t see where there\u2019s anybody revved up, or enough people that they really should get on it. It should be on the talk shows all Sunday. I called the National Republican Committee, and I said, ‘You should be on the talk shows.\u2019 I called my congressman. I said to myself, ‘I gotta do something about this,\u2019 so I picked up the phone and I got through, so I guess it was meant to be. I just can\u2019t believe that we\u2019re doing this. It\u2019s counterproductive and a joke.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Now, wait a sec. Are you seriously concerned the DREAM Act is gonna pass?<\/p>\n

CALLER: I would worry that it would even be considered, but they say Harry Reid —<\/p>\n

RUSH: Well, Harry Reid\u2019s considering it, but this is to follow through on his outreach to Hispanic voters for his election campaign. Nobody expects the DREAM Act to have any action.<\/p>\n

CALLER: I hope not. I really hope not.<\/p>\n

RUSH: No, no, no, it isn\u2019t gonna happen. It isn\u2019t gonna happen. Look, they would have to get that done in the next two weeks. They\u2019re not gonna get that done. The DREAM Act is gonna die with the Democrat majority dying once the new Congress is sworn in. When these guys go home for Christmas that\u2019s it, they don\u2019t have enough time to do that, ‘don\u2019t ask, don\u2019t tell,\u2019 they don\u2019t have time to do anything. It\u2019s all just talk. This is all just talk to try to appeal to the Hispanic voters, pure and simple. Now, they\u2019d love to do it if they could, make no mistake about it. But they\u2019re not gonna have time.<\/p>\n

CALLER: I had heard you talk several years ago about Algore\u2019s college indiscretion, whatever he did, and he said the oceans were gonna rise 20 feet and he just bought a $9 million beach house in California. I don\u2019t understand this, who\u2019s being told what?<\/p>\n

RUSH: You are suffering from an affliction known as logic. And you don\u2019t see that similar logic expressed elsewhere in popular regions of our culture like the media, and that\u2019s why you\u2019re frustrated.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Right.<\/p>\n

RUSH: You\u2019re right, Algore says the sea levels are gonna rise 20 feet and then buys a home in Santa Barbara, which technically is beachfront but it really isn\u2019t. But then gets divorced, or announces the divorce. Ted Danson in 1988 said if we don\u2019t clean up the oceans in ten years we\u2019re all going to die. Well, it\u2019s been 23 and we\u2019re all still alive and Ted Danson\u2019s even still acting on a TV show called Damages, which is not a bad show. I don\u2019t know if they\u2019re gonna do season four of Damages, but it was a good show. Glenn Close plays a lawyer. Anyway, look, I totally feel for you, those of us who live in Literalville, we hear all this outrageous stuff, and where is the outrageous reaction to it? (interruption) I have not watched True Blood yet, Snerdley. I just cannot get into it. Look, the DREAM Act — I just want to say this before True Blood and the vampire stuff — the DREAM Act, Emerson, is just Reid thanking the Hispanics for stealing the election for him. That\u2019s all it is. It isn\u2019t going to be passed. It\u2019s not gonna get signed into law, pure and simple. <\/p>\n

No, I have not watched True Blood. I hear it\u2019s a great show for people who like vampires. I just never have been able to get into vampires. You know, I live in Literalville, and there aren\u2019t vampires. ‘Well, do you watch Star Wars?\u2019 Yeah, when I was younger I did. I know the Literalville explanation doesn\u2019t cut it for a lot of people, but we all have areas of entertainment that just leave us cold. Vampires, I don\u2019t know, don\u2019t hold it against me, I just never got into it. You know, to me you get close enough to that talking about Democrats. I do that every day. I don\u2019t need to go home and watch a television show about \u2019em. (interruption) Yeah, Boardwalk Empire, Nucky Thompson with Steve Buscemi, yeah, I watch that every Sunday.
