This is for the moment acknowledging that Pelosi\u2019s gonna hold onto number one. There\u2019s a battle between Steny Hoyer &#8212; i.e., rich white guy &#8212; and James Clyburn, poor guy black guy. He\u2019s former head of the Congressional Black Caucus. Clyburn wants to be number two in<img loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/live-rush-limbaugh.pantheonsite.io\/wp-content\/uploads\/01125107.Par.89380.ImageFile.jpg\" width=\"350\" height=\"250\" class=\"alignright\"\/> the House of Representatives, and Hoyer wants to be number two. The McClatchy Washington bureau story here: &#8216;Racial Overtones Haunt Battle for House Democrats\u2019 No. 2 Post &#8212; The battle over who will be the No. 2 leader of weakened House Democrats in the next Congress took on racial overtones Monday as Majority Leader Steny Hoyer, who is white, and Majority Whip Jim Clyburn, who is black, battled for supporters. Rep. Barbara Lee of California,\u2019 who is black &#8212; notice it\u2019s the Democrats who always talk this way, &#8216;&#8211; who chairs the 41-member Congressional Black Caucus, told colleagues in a letter that it\u2019s important to keep an African-American on the party\u2019s House leadership team. Rep. Bobby Rush, an Illinois African-American, sent a separate letter backing Clyburn for the post. Thirty House Democrats &#8212; none of them black &#8212; sent colleagues their own letter soliciting support for Hoyer, who\u2019s served in Congress for three decades,\u2019 i.e., 30 years.<\/p>\n<p>&#8216;The 30 Hoyer supporters include seven Hispanic members, among them Reps. Linda Sanchez, Joe Baca, Dennis Cardoza and Lucille Roybal-Allard of California, and Silvestre Reyes of Texas. &#8216;You may find the politics of race dictates a lot of what happens,\u2019 Michael Franc, an analyst at the Heritage Foundation.\u2019 So who do you think is gonna win this? Clyburn is the whip now and he\u2019s done a great job. Within the context of Democrats in the House, he\u2019s done a good job. But Hoyer is the established rich white guy. Who do you think is gonna win this battle, folks? Who\u2019s going to the back of the bus here? Again, you wanna make any bets on who\u2019s gonna win this battle? Ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha. Forty-one members of the Congressional Black Caucus, the rest aren\u2019t. You know what happens to black people who want positions of power in the Democrat Party. They send Andrew Cuomo or Bill Clinton around to tell \u2019em to scram. We\u2019ll see what happens. My money is on &#8212; since we\u2019re talking Democrats here &#8212; the rich white guy, Steny Hoyer. <\/p>\n<p>BREAK TRANSCRIPT<\/p>\n<p>RUSH: You know, you could say, Mr. Snerdley, that Steny Hoyer is standing in the way of history. Steny Hoyer is standing in the way of history. A black guy, James Clyburn, wants to advance. I think he\u2019s only the second African-American whip in the US Congress, but Hoyer is keeping the man down. Hoyer is keeping down the man. We gotta make note of this. There\u2019s a historical opportunity here for the Democrats. In fact, Clyburn at one point was even talking about wanting Pelosi\u2019s job. Ha-ha. Hee-hee-hee. You knew that wasn\u2019t going to happen.
