RUSH: All right, here\u2019s Senator Kerry ‘unleashed a broadside Thursday against Republican ‘obstructionism,\u2019 saying the GOP and its talk-show allies have created a ‘period of know-nothingism\u2019 in the country. With his party braced for defeats in the midterm elections, the [haughty] 2004 Democratic presidential nominee told the Greater Boston Chamber of Commerce…\u2019 What\u2019s he doing speaking to the Chamber of Commerce? Doesn\u2019t he know that they\u2019re the enemy? The Chamber of Commerce is the enemy of Obama. They\u2019re taking foreign money! The regime says so. But anyway there\u2019s Kerry out there talking to them, and he says ‘that a Republican machine — fueled by [me] and Glenn Beck — has undermined progress and misled the public into believing Democrats created the country\u2019s current economic problems.\u2019 <\/p>\n

Well, why would anybody think that? Do you realize you people are not smart enough? You who can\u2019t find a job, you who cannot get a raise, you who see prices going up left and right, you who see what you see, you\u2019re not smart enough to know why it\u2019s happening! You have to be told by me. This is where they have always misunderstood the reason, at least for my success. I don\u2019t know any others, but the reason for my success is that I validate what people already think. People are happy to listen to this show because there\u2019s somebody thinks like they do. Meaning they\u2019re not mind numbs robots out there. We do our own brand of education here. I mean this is the Limbaugh Institute for Advanced Conservative Studies. I\u2019m not denying that. <\/p>\n

But this is not a bunch of mind-numbed robots out there. This is smart smartest people and the thirstiest, hungriest for knowledge people out there, and they find it here. ‘Kerry singled out attacks on an energy deal he was negotiating with Republicans, which fell apart amid criticism of an emissions-trading program.\u2019 This is cap and trade! (laughing) ‘Some 20 Senate candidates are now opposing the proposed deal in their campaigns.\u2019 They\u2019re opposing it because they know it might cost them their job. It might thrust them into automobiles they don\u2019t want to have to buy. They might have to use lightbulbs they don\u2019t want to have to use, and their utility bills are going to skyrocket. <\/p>\n

”It\u2019s absurd. We\u2019ve lost our minds,\u2019 said a clearly exasperated Kerry. ‘We\u2019re in a period of know-nothingism in the country, where truth and science and facts don\u2019t weigh in. It\u2019s all short-order, lowest common denominator, cheap-seat politics.\u2019 To underscore his claim, he said statistics show Republicans had blocked Senate business with filibuster tactics more during the past 18 months than the period between the end of World War I and the Apollo moon landing in 1969. ‘The obstructionism is stunning,\u2019 Kerry said…\u2019 Senator, you guys had sixty votes for a year. You have 59 votes. Now, the Republicans could not stop you at anything! This is just plain old sour grapes. Kerry said ‘know-nothings\u2019 get stuck in Iraq. <\/p>\n

Here\u2019s the quote from October 2006: ‘You know, education — if you make the most of it, you study hard, you do your homework and you make an effort to be smart, you can do well. If you don\u2019t you get stuck in Iraq.\u2019 Remember that quote from Senator Kerry. I think it was in Northern California or Seattle. How…? Senator Kerry, what in the world have we stopped? We had health care rammed down our throats. We got this financial regulatory reform bill and now we get you guys come back perhaps in the lame duck session and ramrod all this other stuff that nobody wants. Senator Kerry, you are governing against the will of the people. ‘Limbaugh and Beck did not immediately respond to e-mails sent to the public addresses on their websites.\u2019 <\/p>\n

Yeah, I missed that e-mail with the thousands of others. We get a hundred thousand in that account every day. I somehow missed it. (chuckling) No, I am responding now. I don\u2019t want to respond. I\u2019m just laughing at it. This is statists. These are totalitarians. These are authoritarians.
