CALLER: Hi, Rush. It\u2019s so nice to talk to you. I tried to get in before and, oh, I\u2019m so nervous. And I got through once and Snerdley hung up on me and I cried and I tried again and I got back in. First of all want to let you know that I have thanked God many times for you because I think you\u2019re a gift to us for the conservative voice.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Thank you very much.<\/p>\n

CALLER: And also how you\u2019ve brought out all the other voices that are out there. I don\u2019t know… I honestly believe you\u2019re a gift from God. I don\u2019t know what we\u2019d do without you.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Well, you know, there were many, many people who thanked my mother for giving birth to me. <\/p>\n

CALLER: Yeah, well, I do, too.<\/p>\n

RUSH: She was always very proud of that.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Yeah. She should be. Or she should have been. I\u2019m sure she was.<\/p>\n

RUSH: She was.<\/p>\n

CALLER: And I also wanted to say that I\u2019m very, very happy that you and Kathryn found each other.<\/p>\n

RUSH: So am I.<\/p>\n

CALLER: And I hope you have a great many years.<\/p>\n

RUSH: You know, a boy chases a girl \u2019til she catches him.<\/p>\n

CALLER: (chuckles) That\u2019s right. That\u2019s right. Well, the main reason I called is that over the years that I listened to you, there have been times when I have actually doubted you.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Oh, no!<\/p>\n

CALLER: Yes.<\/p>\n

RUSH: No!<\/p>\n

CALLER: Isn\u2019t it awful? I\u2019m apologizing to you through the radio when you turned out to be right and I turned out to be wrong. So I just want to tell you today that everything that you\u2019re saying, that I want to say, ‘Dittos,\u2019 but more than that I want to say, ‘I don\u2019t doubt you,\u2019 and I believe everything you\u2019re saying about the Democrats.<\/p>\n

RUSH: And the media. I\u2019ll tell you, Mary, it\u2019s also about the media, and I want you to have nerves the steel this week and next, after the election. It\u2019s going to be brutal. I mean, you think what they\u2019re doing to Sarah Palin, Christine O\u2019Donnell now, what they have done up \u2019til now is vicious. It\u2019s going to intensify this week, and it will intensify even more after the elections. <\/p>\n

BREAK TRANSCRIPT<\/p>\n

RUSH: I got this e-mail. ‘Dear Rush: I have a bone to pick with you. You say you have talent on loan from God, as we all do, and I agree with that. So why aren\u2019t you telling your audience that they should be praying to God so that we win really big in this coming election and to continually pray to him? Remember what\u2019s impossible for man is possible with God.\u2019 Now, when I saw this, I said (sigh), ‘What in the heck is this?\u2019 I decided to print it out and read it to you because it reminded me of a story. If all you\u2019re doing is praying for a victory, it ain\u2019t enough. God helps people who help themselves. I will never forget being told how the Soviet Union tried to convince their children that God didn\u2019t exist. <\/p>\n

They would get two potted plants and they\u2019d put them in a window, and they would water one, and not water the other — and they said, ‘We\u2019re going to make one plant grow; we\u2019re gonna leave the other one to God.\u2019 Of course, the plant that they took care of and nurtured and watered grew, and the plant that they didn\u2019t died. And that\u2019s how they would convince people that there wasn\u2019t a god. The answer is: ‘God helps those who help themselves.\u2019 You can sit around all day and pray, it isn\u2019t gonna matter a hill of beans if you\u2019re not willing to get out and do something about it yourself!
