CALLER: Hey. How you doing?<\/p>\n

RUSH: Very good, sir. Thank you.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Yeah, I was, you know, listening to you yesterday. I tried to get through yesterday but couldn\u2019t, and, you know, you were talking about how Juan Williams, how the liberals let him kind of like, you know, they don\u2019t come out to protect him and stuff, but then you guys do the same thing. You know, you don\u2019t really protect your own, either.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Well, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa. Whoa, wait a minute. First, what did I say about Juan Williams yesterday?<\/p>\n

CALLER: You know what I mean, just that, you know, that a lot of the liberal groups didn\u2019t come out to protect him and —<\/p>\n

RUSH: Oh, yeah, the Reverend Jackson, the Reverend Sharpton, the civil rights groups, the usual suspects, the ACLU did not come out and defend Juan Williams\u2019 constitutional rights, human rights, civil rights, animal rights, or whatever.<\/p>\n

CALLER: You know, you conservatives, you know, I mean you and Hannity and all these guys, you kind of do the same thing, you know, I mean, there\u2019s guys around — like I was telling your screener there was a guy here, a teacher here in Las Vegas —<\/p>\n

RUSH: Yeah?<\/p>\n

CALLER: — he ran for Congress —<\/p>\n

RUSH: Yeah?<\/p>\n

CALLER: — as a real conservative —<\/p>\n

RUSH: Yeah.<\/p>\n

CALLER: — and, you know, he\u2019s been a teacher for I think 20 years, and, you know, they fired him —<\/p>\n

RUSH: Yeah?<\/p>\n

CALLER: — because he stands up for the beliefs and this Mr. Blocky guy, you know, two years ago, you know, been suspended for two years and, you know, you guys haven\u2019t done anything for him, and, you know, and he\u2019s kinda been out there asking for help, and you guys, you know, nobody\u2019s done anything for him. You know, I go on Facebook and read about him, and, you know, he kind of keeps everybody updated and stuff, and I don\u2019t believe in a lot of things he says. I believe in the things he talks about as far as the school system goes and that but, you know, there\u2019s no one out helping him, his last blog said he was gonna lose his house.<\/p>\n

RUSH: No, no, you\u2019re misunderstanding something. I didn\u2019t expect these people to come out and help Juan Williams. That was the point. We\u2019re trying to make a point here that they are hypocrites.<\/p>\n

CALLER: You kind of implied they should.<\/p>\n

RUSH: No, no. Life is short, depending on whose life you\u2019re talking about. But no, I did not imply they should. I knew they wouldn\u2019t. The point was they\u2019re all supporting Juan Williams getting canned because he\u2019s at Fox News and now they\u2019re gonna target Mara Liasson and others. These people, there\u2019s no big tent. These are the people that have the litmus test.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Yeah, I understand that.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Yeah.<\/p>\n

CALLER: I understand what you\u2019re saying, but you kind of implied that they should, this is their guy and they should be for him no matter where — you know, even though he is at Fox, and I understand that thing but you know the conservatives do the same thing as the liberals, and, you know, I mean you let guys hang out to dry and — you know. This guy was one of your own here, you know, I mean gosh, he was like, you know, he was a perfect example of a conservative taking a stance in the school system and gets harassed. I mean you should read some of his blogs and the things he\u2019s been through, I mean — <\/p>\n

RUSH: Are you the teacher?<\/p>\n

CALLER: I was a teacher. I\u2019m a retired teacher.<\/p>\n

RUSH: You\u2019re not the teacher?<\/p>\n

CALLER: What do you mean the teacher?<\/p>\n

RUSH: You\u2019re not the guy that we\u2019re not helping?<\/p>\n

CALLER: No.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Okay. <\/p>\n

CALLER: No. I know him. Like I said, I agree with the things —<\/p>\n

RUSH: A-ha.<\/p>\n

CALLER: — he says —<\/p>\n

RUSH: Yeah, right.<\/p>\n

CALLER: I\u2019m not as conservative obviously as he is. I\u2019m a Democrat and he\u2019s a real staunch Republican.<\/p>\n

RUSH: You are Democrat? Really? Who knew?<\/p>\n

CALLER: (laughing) Well, I mean I\u2019m just saying, you know, I mean you guys do the same things. I mean, you criticize the ACLU and all those guys, and, you know —<\/p>\n

RUSH: I\u2019m starting to feel, honest to God, talking to you like I felt last night reading David Brooks\u2019 column, like I\u2019m drunk. I\u2019m asking myself if I\u2019m even awake. And now I\u2019m asking myself, &ldquo;Do you people now understand why we don\u2019t do Open Line Friday every day?&rdquo; <\/p>\n

CALLER: Oh, hello, Rush.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Hi.<\/p>\n

CALLER: I want to get back to the issue on Juan Williams.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Sure.<\/p>\n

CALLER: I\u2019m predicting that if NPR doesn\u2019t kiss and make up or throw him a bone, I think Juan Williams might start moving to the right. What do you think?<\/p>\n

RUSH: There\u2019s no reason for Juan Williams to have to move to the right now.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Just a little bit —<\/p>\n

RUSH: No, he doesn\u2019t have to move. No, no, no. He doesn\u2019t have to move to the right. Why would he have to move to the right? He just got a two-year extension from Fox, a couple million dollars, and notice how Fox made that public real quick yesterday afternoon. Ha! I wonder how many other people at Fox who are not making two million go, &ldquo;Whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, what happened here?&rdquo; But that\u2019s another thing.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Right. But you don\u2019t feel that any bad blood that his comments might just be a little not so far left?<\/p>\n

RUSH: No. I think Juan believes he\u2019s perfectly positioned where he is. He doesn\u2019t have to change anything.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Okay.<\/p>\n

RUSH: No.<\/p>\n

CALLER: It was just a thought that I\u2019ve seen sometimes when people have bad blood they\u2019ll take the other side a little bit and run with it.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Nah. Look, I think he gave that a shot yesterday, a couple days ago, whenever it was. The days run together. I think when he went on Fox in the morning and accused the Tea Party people of being racist, I think he was trying to save his job at NPR, but it didn\u2019t work. And I don\u2019t expect NPR to now do a mea culpa, that\u2019s not going to happen. There are other reasons why this did happen. In fact, what\u2019s probably happening now, folks, is a lot of schlubs over at NPR are now trying to figure out what they can do to get fired and then hired for $2 million at Fox.
