RUSH: Jordan in Daytona Beach, Florida. Welcome to the Rush Limbaugh program. Nice to have you here.<\/p>\n

<\/a>CALLER: Hey, Rush. How are you?<\/p>\n

RUSH: Good.<\/p>\n

CALLER: I have a question for you that may seem obvious but I would first like to give you a premise before you answer my question.<\/p>\n

RUSH: All right.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Okay. I attend college, and I\u2019m in an American government class. There are 40 students in the class, and the professor asked us, ‘Who, of you, are content with the amount of taxes that come out of your paycheck?\u2019 Only one in 40 students said that they were content with the amount of taxes that they\u2019re paying to the government. However, when he asked how many people vote Democrat, it was almost half. Now, in addressing the kind of hypocrisy there that, you know, we know that the Democrats are not for tax cuts, they\u2019re for tax increases —<\/p>\n

RUSH: Right.<\/p>\n

CALLER: — my question for you is what is to make us think that the American people won\u2019t believe the mainstream media once again and blame Republicans for all the mess that Obama and the Democrats have created?<\/p>\n

RUSH: I love this question. You\u2019re a college student, right?<\/p>\n

CALLER: Yes.<\/p>\n

RUSH: I\u2019ve been getting this question for 25 years. Every year, multiple times a year, because your life experience is that the media\u2019s going to blame the Republicans for whatever goes wrong, no matter who\u2019s to blame for it, and therefore you don\u2019t see any change. For me, in the last 25 years, there has been worlds of change. They still blame the Republicans, but they don\u2019t get away with it as often as they do. Not nearly. Look at the Tea Party, look at the Drive-By Media shrinking, New York Times, ABC, NBC, CBS, they are shrinking, their influence and their sphere of influence is shrinking. They still do it, you\u2019re right, the template is still blame Republicans for everything. I have a question for you. Of these 40 college students, how many of them in there actually get a paycheck to even know what their taxes are, that was my first reaction.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Well, see, that\u2019s what he asked, he said only answer if you have a job and pay taxes, but, you know, I would assume that these people who raise their hands are mostly making minimum wage and therefore they\u2019re getting their taxes all back the next year. So I mean — <\/p>\n

RUSH: That\u2019s the point. You\u2019re dealing with sort of a flawed test group here because their earnings are not nearly what they\u2019re going to be.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Exactly.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Well, what they were going to be before Obama. But your other question, what\u2019s to say the Republicans won\u2019t get blamed. They will be. In fact, let me prepare you. Let me give you my theorem as to what\u2019s going to happen. The Republicans are going to win big the House of Representatives. I think that\u2019s a given. Even if they don\u2019t win the House, they\u2019re gonna take away the Democrats supermajority. If they don\u2019t win the Senate they\u2019re gonna get close to that, but a lot of people think they\u2019re gonna win the House. I think — and I\u2019ve astutely pointed this out on previous occasions — I think that\u2019s exactly what Obama wants. What does he need for his own reelection? He needs to run against somebody. He needs to have somebody to blame for the mess that he\u2019s created. He can\u2019t and doesn\u2019t want to blame his own party, even now, even now he\u2019s out there blaming — and the media — blaming the Republicans for all this mess when the Republicans can\u2019t stop anything Obama wants to do. Well, it isn\u2019t working. The thing here is that if the ‘blame the Republicans” technique was working, then the Democrats should be ahead in all of these polls. So you need to have some optimism out there. I understand why you don\u2019t. You\u2019re new to this, and you\u2019re getting frustrated over what you see as a degree of unfairness, lack of balance, bias, or what have you. But they\u2019re not getting away with it the way they used to. That\u2019s my point to you.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Okay.<\/p>\n

RUSH: ‘Cause if they were, the Republicans wouldn\u2019t be ahead of the game. But that doesn\u2019t mean they\u2019re gonna stop using the ploy. They\u2019re gonna keep using the ploy. Obama has created a mess. It\u2019s a bad mess. This is a mess that not even DDT could fix. It\u2019s gonna take a lot of time and a lot of elections to fix this. But Obama wants to get reelected. He\u2019s going to have to blame somebody. All politicians have to run against something. It\u2019s going to be much easier for him to blame the Republicans, he\u2019ll say, ‘We\u2019re in big mess, got all these deficits, we got high deficits, we can\u2019t keep spending our way in debt like this,\u2019 he\u2019ll say that, and ‘it\u2019s Republicans who got us here. I had brave policies the first two years to try to stop this, but I couldn\u2019t, and the Republicans did not support me at all and now they\u2019re in charge and now they\u2019re opposing everything I want to do, they\u2019re opposing all of my brilliant solutions.\u2019 That\u2019s what\u2019s going to happen and the media is going to be right in there echoing him, but it doesn\u2019t work. It isn\u2019t working now. This is what you have to realize. It isn\u2019t working now. <\/p>\n

If it were, if people thought the Republicans were in charge and responsible for the deficit, if they thought that Republicans were responsible for the unemployment levels, if they thought Republicans were responsible for this stinko economy, why would Republicans be looking at a landslide victory? So the voters know. But the voters have known before and the press has been able to talk them out of what they know. That\u2019s what you instinctively are aware of. That\u2019s why the battle continues. That\u2019s why the war continues. Battles are won and lost but the war will go on and on and on. It\u2019s great to have you engaged in it at your age and to have you observing the things that you\u2019re observing. I\u2019m glad you called.
