RUSH: This is an illustration. We\u2019ve been telling you how the State-Controlled Media really doesn\u2019t like Axelrod and Obama accusing the Chamber of Commerce of being foreign agents. They really were uncomfortable. They\u2019re trying to get \u2019em to stop this. So this morning on NBC\u2019s ‘Lean Forward, it Won\u2019t Hurt a Bit,\u2019 Morning Joe show, they had Mark Halperin on there from TIME Magazine, and Scarborough said, ‘Mark Halperin, this is their strategy now. They\u2019ve adopted this strategy attacking the Chamber of Commerce and talking about foreign sources.\u2019<\/line><\/line>HALPERIN: I\u2019m not sure how they think this appeals to voters, to call out the Chamber of Commerce for allegedly using foreign money. It also seems a little strange to be demonizing the ‘foreign.\u2019 No one\u2019s advocating lawbreaking, but boogie word that they\u2019re using, ‘foreign,\u2019 as if somehow anything that\u2019s foreign is bad, it\u2019s just not relevant to voters. And for the president of the United States, the vice president of the United States to keep up a lie with no basis where they say, ‘Well, the Chamber has to prove they\u2019re not using foreign money,\u2019 it\u2019s really mystifying.<\/line><\/p>\n

RUSH: Really? Don\u2019t like it. They\u2019re mystified. The Chamber has to prove they\u2019re not using foreign money. It\u2019s mystifying. Why? Mark, they\u2019re Democrats. This is common, it\u2019s SOP, it\u2019s standard operating procedure. Schieffer said, ‘Is this the best you can do?\u2019 And Axelrod says, ‘Well, Bob, do you have any evidence that they\u2019re not taking foreign money?\u2019 Schieffer, ‘Do you have any evidence that they are?\u2019 And Axelrod, ‘Do you have any evidence that they\u2019re not, Bob?\u2019 Yesterday afternoon on CNBC\u2019s Power Lunch during the Power Grid segment the cohost Tyler Mathisen spoke with Eamon Javers, the Washington correspondent, about foreign donations to political parties in the 2010 midterms. Question: ‘Foreign companies, US subsidiaries having their own PACs. Who have those PACs supported, generally?\u2019<\/p>\n

JAVERS: President Obama might want to look up the statistics, because they\u2019re favoring Democrats. More than $6 million has gone to Democrats, and more than $5 million has gone to Republicans from those subsidiaries, US subsidiaries of foreign companies. So clearly that group favoring the Democrats by a pretty healthy margin.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Right. And this is one of the reasons why the media is saying, ‘Will you guys kind of back off on this? We all know where the foreign money is going.\u2019 We remember John Huang. We remember Charlie Trie, the Chinese restaurateur from Little Rock delivering thousands and thousands of dollars in money orders. We remember Algore and the no controlling legal authority with the Buddhist nuns contributing to the Clinton campaign out in California, Los Angeles. Here\u2019s Jake Tapper last night, ABC\u2019s World News Tonight. This is a report on foreign donations to the US Chamber of Commerce.<\/p>\n

TAPPER: Is there any proof that foreign money is funding political ads or activities? No. The Chamber says that no foreign money is used to fund our political activities. But you\u2019re asking the Chamber to prove a negative, prove that you\u2019re not doing such-and-such accusation.<\/p>\n

AXELROD: It\u2019s not proving a negative, Jake, because all you have to do to clear up the questions is reveal who your donors are from.<\/p>\n

RUSH: There aren\u2019t any questions, there weren\u2019t any questions until you raised them. So the whole point is moot until the White House says, ‘Where\u2019s this money coming from?\u2019 All of a sudden, because you ask a question, they have to respond, they have to reveal where the money is coming from. They don\u2019t have to reveal this. So no, it\u2019s not proving a negative, Jake, all you have to do is clear up the question and reveal your donors. This is seriousness of the charge versus nature of the evidence. Let\u2019s go back, on Sunday, here\u2019s the mantra for the rest of the campaign from the Drive-By Media.<\/p>\n

SCHIEFFER: Do you — I guess I would put it this way. If the only charge three weeks into the election that the Democrats can make is that somehow there may or may not be foreign money coming into the campaign, is that the best you can do?<\/p>\n

RUSH: I still love this. Bob Schieffer got Axelrod on Sunday. He\u2019s thinking he\u2019s gonna hit a home run. He\u2019s going to show up, he\u2019s going to deliver a knockout punch, it\u2019s gonna make it a sure shot that the Democrats hold the House and hold the Senate, the White House. This is the Obama campaign, they got something, and I got \u2019em on my show and they\u2019re gonna come here and they\u2019re gonna announce the blockbuster, and they leak out this business of foreign money, Chamber of Commerce, a corrupt representative of foreign interests. And Schieffer is just as let down as anybody could be. This is like, you know, wanting a train set on Christmas Day and your parents give you a fish or a rubber band to go out and kill mosquitoes with. He says, ‘Is this it? Is that all there is?\u2019 Now, Chris Matthews didn\u2019t like what Schieffer did, but for a different reason. Here\u2019s what he had to say about foreign donations to the Chamber of Commerce in the 2010 midterm elections.<\/p>\n

MATTHEWS: If the US Chamber of Commerce raises millions and millions of dollars from it\u2019s corporate sources, including overseas sources, and funnels that money right into these Republican campaigns, what was illegitimate about what Axelrod and the president are saying? I don\u2019t understand Schieffer\u2019s question. What\u2019s wrong with the basic charge?<\/p>\n

RUSH: So there\u2019s a little internecine battle going on here. Clearly Matthews doesn\u2019t like the way Schieffer said (imitating Matthews) ‘What\u2019s wrong with it? What\u2019s wrong with it?\u2019 So there\u2019s a circular fire squad going on. How much foreign money pours into General Electric, which owns NBC, which owns CNBC, at least for awhile. They got stimulus money. It\u2019s a story in the stack here. GE got 24, $25 million in stimulus money, and they still laid off workers. Yeah. I\u2019ve got it here. GE got stimulus money and still fired a bunch of people. How much foreign money goes to the paycheck of Chris Matthews? How much foreign money actually ends up in the budgets to run ‘Lean Forward, It Won\u2019t Hurt That Much,\u2019 MSNBC, CNBC, and NBC? And Matthews doesn\u2019t even get the basic facts right, which is not a surprise. The Chamber of Commerce has not raised millions and millions of dollars, they raised $100,000. GE laid off all those workers making incandescent lightbulbs. That\u2019s who lost their jobs because of Obama policy, and they got a grant to go after whatever the green energy stuff. So it was a double whammy. <\/p>\n

BREAK TRANSCRIPT<\/line><\/line>RUSH: Richmond, Virginia, Alan. Welcome to the program, sir. Hi.<\/line><\/p>\n

CALLER: Hi, Rush. Mega dittos. Quick point. It reminds me of a commercial that\u2019s on TV now. It\u2019s some insurance company that\u2019s probably soon to be gone by the government where the rattlesnake is sitting there, and the rabbit\u2019s scared, and then all of a sudden it\u2019s got a fake rattle tied to its tail. That\u2019s what Obama and Axelrod are looking like, and that\u2019s why Bob Schieffer sitting there going: Y\u2019all are turning into snakes with rattles on your tails, and it\u2019s hilarious to watch. I hope they keep doing it.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Well… (laughs) Is that the Travelers Insurance ad you\u2019re talking about?<\/p>\n

CALLER: Yeah, that\u2019s it, and we\u2019re all out there — the conservatives, the Tea Party guys — as the jackrabbits running up in the field to look at Imam Obama with a rattle on his tail.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Excellent point, sir. Our audience is observant. And who says our audience is not steeped in the popular culture? Have you seen that Travelers ad, Snerdley? Have you seen it? (interruption) It is hysterical. It\u2019s hysterical — and I think to have Axelrod and Obama, and Bob Schieffer (laughing), compared as playing roles in that ad is terrific. <\/p>\n

All right, I have to take a brief time-out. It\u2019s a sad note but it\u2019s only three minutes or even less, and it won\u2019t feel like it\u2019s that long anyway.<\/p>\n

RUSH: You see the lead story on the Drudge Report last night and…? Yeah, it\u2019s still up there today. George Soros: ‘I can\u2019t stop a Republican avalanche.\u2019 This is the danger of putting all your eggs in one rich guy\u2019s basket. ‘George Soros, the billionaire financier who was an energetic Democratic donor in the last several election cycles but is sitting this one out, not feeling optimistic about Democrat prospects.\u2019 <\/p>\n

RUSH: (whispering) ‘You\u2019re on your own, Barry.\u2019 You know what\u2019s kind of funny is that Soros is sitting this out, and this bogus charge against the Chamber of Commerce came from a Soros front group! The… What is it? It\u2019s Think Progress. Soros pays for that bunch. All right, back to the phones. Tracy in Sheboygan, Wisconsin, it\u2019s great to have you on the EIB Network.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Thank you very much.<\/p>\n

CALLER: I love the subject. This is so disgusting. It\u2019s with regard to the hypocrisy and outrage by the president, the Democrats, about the foreign money influencing and stealing our democracy. However, Rush, they don\u2019t seem to have issue with, nor is any media outlet reporting on the fact that many foreign countries, including Mexico, are participating with our government in a lawsuit against Arizona claiming human rights violations. They have both amicus briefs… They\u2019re participating with our government suing Arizona. <\/p>\n

RUSH: Of course. I mean the hypocrisy is rank. I mean it\u2019s all over the place.<\/p>\n

CALLER: So it\u2019s okay for foreign governments to screw Arizona but not the Democrats, I guess. (giggles)<\/p>\n

RUSH: Speaking of all this immigration, I have a story here, and I mighta just thrown it away. It\u2019s interesting. I go through the stack now and then, and I find things that I thought I might use before the show starts. The show gets underway and I say, ‘Nah, I need to shrink the stack. I\u2019ll throw that away.\u2019 Now she calls and I can\u2019t find it. I don\u2019t know what I did with it, but I\u2019ll paraphrase it. It\u2019s a story about how the Mexican people are all fed up that Guatemala will not stop their people from immigrating to Mexico. Guatemalans are going to Mexico and stopping. They\u2019re not continuing on to the United States. So while the Mexican government is mad at us for trying to stop the illegals from crossing our border and they want to sue Arizona so forth, they\u2019re upset that the Guatemalans are coming into their country and won\u2019t keep going to the United States.
