RUSH: Christine O\u2019Donnell\u2019s got a new ad. I don\u2019t know if we\u2019ve got the O\u2019Donnell ad. I think I saw it on the roster. I don\u2019t know. Let me find number 20. Yeah. Here\u2019s number 20. This is the audio of Christine O\u2019Donnell\u2019s ad that\u2019s running in Delaware.<\/p>\n

O\u2019DONNELL: I\u2019m not a witch. I\u2019m nothing you\u2019ve heard. I\u2019m you. None of us are perfect but none of us can be happy with what we see all around us: Politicians who think spending, trading favors, and backroom deals are the ways to stay in office. I\u2019ll go to Washington and do what you\u2019d do. I\u2019m Christine O\u2019Donnell, and I approved this message. I\u2019m you.<\/p>\n

RUSH: All right, so that\u2019s Christine O\u2019Donnell\u2019s effort to counter… (interruption) You like it? I\u2019m looking in the other side of the glass. Snerdley likes it. Dawn, you like it. (interruption) Brian, do you like it? (interruption) You actually listened to it, Brian? You actually…? (interruption) I was going to say, Brian\u2019s busy engineering in there. He didn\u2019t hear it. He just lying to me telling me he likes it. (interruption) All right, but you like the business she starts out with, ‘I\u2019m not a witch.\u2019 You like it because she confronts it dead on? (interruption) You think it\u2019s wise to confront this as genuine? ‘Hi, I\u2019m not a witch? I\u2019m nothing you\u2019ve heard. I\u2019m you. None of us are perfect, but none of us can be happy…\u2019 (interruption) All right. All right. Have you seen the ad? Let me ask you…? (interruption) All right, okay. Now if you\u2019ve seen the ad, you know that there is a dark background. <\/p>\n

It\u2019s either navy, royal blue (very dark), or black background. ‘I\u2019m not a witch.\u2019 If you\u2019re gonna do a black background, it would be great to have Pelosi on a broomstick flying around or Harry Reid as one of the monkeys in the Wizard of Oz, ‘Oh-weee-looo” if you\u2019re gonna do that. A dark background and say, ‘I\u2019m not a witch\u2019? Make it white. Make it a lighter, you know, a ‘morning in America\u2019 kind of background. (interruption) I know, I… (interruption) I wasn\u2019t… (interruption) You want to know what I think about it? Everybody knows she\u2019s not a witch! I mean, to come out and say, ‘I\u2019m not a witch\u2019? I mean, how many voters are there in Delaware, 70,000, 150,000. It\u2019s a small state, and this is reacting to a HBO television show and a clip that she ‘dabbled in witchcraft.\u2019 I don\u2019t know. It\u2019s a little bit defensive for me. But, you know, my instincts for the first time could be wrong, and everybody on the other side of the glass…<\/p>\n

I don\u2019t think it\u2019s a mistake or fatal. I just wouldn\u2019t have done it. I wouldn\u2019t have tackled it. I wouldn\u2019t have let anybody know that that bothers me. It\u2019s so stupid, it\u2019s so ridiculous that anybody would believe she\u2019s a witch. For crying out loud, when we have one running the House already. We have… (interruption) These are the people that voted for Joe Biden time and time again. What does that have to do with anything? So they voted for Joe Biden time and time again. They voted for Mike Castle time and time again. You telling me that voters of Delaware are that stupid, they might actually believe she\u2019s a witch? (interruption) Uhhhh, maybe I just have too much faith in people. Now, her opponent, Chris Coons, is bringing in Al Franken, a genuine parasite. You know, Al Franken would be nobody if he couldn\u2019t live off other people\u2019s work and use other people\u2019s names in his work. This guy is a rolling embarrassment in the United States Senate. Chris Coons, ‘the bearded Marxist,\u2019 is bringing Al Franken in to campaign for him. Maybe Franken can convince voters in Delaware that Christine O\u2019Donnell isn\u2019t a serious enough candidate to be elected, because he is. Of all the people! Of all the people to bring in to campaign for you, you bring in Franken? So okay, so if I\u2019m Christine O\u2019Donnell, and I do the ad, and I say, ‘I\u2019m not a witch,\u2019 at the end of the ad, I twitch my nose and I disappear. I\u2019d have some fun with this. <\/p>\n

RUSH: This is anecdotal and it\u2019s cursory, but I\u2019m in the minority here. I found one person who thinks the Christine O\u2019Donnell ad was a little bit of a mistake, kind of like Nixon saying, ‘I\u2019m not a crook.\u2019 My whole problem with this is I hate accepting the premise of the other side and then having to defend it. It\u2019s absurd. But that\u2019s just me. That\u2019s just a style that I have developed over my years behind the microphone. I don\u2019t accept their premise and argue on their turf, because it puts you on defense. I understand the rest of it; she\u2019s trying to say I\u2019m like you. It\u2019s good. It\u2019s what we\u2019ve been saying that she is. Here\u2019s Joan in New York City. You\u2019re first on the phones today on the Rush Limbaugh program. Hi.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Hi, Rush. Listen, Rush, we can\u2019t say anything negative, I\u2019m sorry, about Christine O\u2019Donnell. Less than 30 days out they\u2019re going to play you tonight and all these days, that Rush Limbaugh thinks Christine O\u2019Donnell is stupid. And we gotta stick together. Why do we always attack each other?<\/p>\n

RUSH: I did not say she was stupid.<\/p>\n

CALLER: I\u2019m sorry?<\/p>\n

RUSH: I didn\u2019t say she was stupid.<\/p>\n

CALLER: It was a bad ad. You can\u2019t say anything negative, Rush. We\u2019ve gotta win, all of us. I watched your comments on Eliot Spitzer, Client No. 9 last night where they trashed Sarah Palin. But nevertheless why aren\u2019t we going, Rush, after the opponents —<\/p>\n

RUSH: Hang on a second, you just —<\/p>\n

CALLER: — Barbara Boxer is stupid. Give \u2019em back what they do to our candidates, call them stupid and idiots every day —<\/p>\n

RUSH: I did not call her stupid! You\u2019re talking about stupid. You\u2019re the one person that watched Client No. 9. <\/p>\n

CALLER: (laughing) <\/p>\n

RUSH: You want me to sit here — (laughing) you want me to devote time to what happened on that show?<\/p>\n

CALLER: I go back and forth. Meanwhile, on Fox they were showing Kristin Davis as a madam and Roger Stone. I had to go back. I go back and forth. (laughing)<\/p>\n

RUSH: Well —<\/p>\n

CALLER: But anyway.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Let me tell you something, I read a couple reviews of Client No. 9 the show, and, you know, the Gawker guys in New York, the Gawker website, if they don\u2019t like you and you\u2019re doing a New York show, you\u2019re finished. And I like the Gawker guys. They kind of questioned my taste in the decorating of my New York apartment, but they can\u2019t be right about everything. But the Gawker guys did not like Client No. 9\u2019s show.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Yeah, right, right, with the liberal, Kathleen Parker, she\u2019s a real liberal, can\u2019t stand her. But, please, we\u2019ve gotta stick together and we\u2019ve gotta start calling the opponents of our candidates stupid, Barbara Boxer\u2019s stupid, use the same words they use on us.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Yeah, you\u2019re kind of making my point here.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Yeah, you are, I know.<\/p>\n

RUSH: You\u2019re kind of making my point, but I wasn\u2019t consulted, you\u2019re right, I wasn\u2019t consulted, and apparently I\u2019m in the minority, a lot of people like the ad.<\/p>\n

CALLER: It was okay.<\/p>\n

RUSH: I don\u2019t dislike it, by the way. I don\u2019t dislike it at all.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Okay.<\/p>\n

RUSH: And of course I don\u2019t dislike her.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Yeah, we love her here. But like Karl Rove, they used it against us for days on end, you see what I\u2019m saying, what Karl Rove started a couple weeks ago.<\/p>\n

RUSH: I remember all this, yes.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Oh, yeah.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Just chill. Chill out, be cool, miracles, magic, all kinds of wonderful things are going to happen in November. I have no fear. I have no doubts. I\u2019m not worried at all. And if I were you I would not waste time on anything on CNN. I mean, for crying out loud, you watching Client No. 9 host a television show where he says — what I read? What\u2019s his secret? The Client No. 9 secret fetish or hidden desire is NASCAR? Like we\u2019re gonna believe that. Yeah. Right. Let me tell you something. The Eliot Spitzer show once again demonstrates what a fine line there is between prostitutes and presstitutes. You can barely see that line, especially on that show, prostitutes versus presstitutes. It\u2019s hard to know who is who on that show. <\/p>\n

CALLER: You were talking earlier about the ignorance of the Democrats, and I just wanted to give you a little firsthand knowledge from me. I\u2019m a poll worker here in Indiana and we have probably the simplest that could be used. You simply fill in the arrow, the little blank space in the middle for the candidate that you choose to vote for.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Yeah.<\/p>\n

CALLER: About ten to one on spoiled ballots are dumb questions, it\u2019s Democrats always.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Yeah, we had the same thing happen here in Florida in 2000. Here in Palm Beach County, in fact. You might remember the old butterfly ballot and hanging chads.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Right.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Nothing could have been simpler. And in this case, the Democrats designed the ballot. They sent the ballots out to everyone, you\u2019re supposed to look at them. It\u2019s simple as pie. These people ended up —<\/p>\n

CALLER: The instructions are printed all the way across the top of the ballot also.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Well, that doesn\u2019t help if people can\u2019t read. And if they come from the public education system, the odds are the reading skills may be deficient. That\u2019s why they did the butterfly ballot here. You don\u2019t have to read somebody\u2019s name. There\u2019s just a hole that you punch. It\u2019s like something that happens here in Palm Beach County every night, you just stab it. You know, right where you want to stab it, you stab it there. You make sure you stab it all the way through. And these people in Palm Beach County thinking they were voting for Gore claimed they voted for Pat Buchanan. Now, there\u2019s no way. Even Buchanan had to come out and say, ‘Look, I have to tell you, I know who these voters are, and if they\u2019re voting for me I know they don\u2019t mean it.\u2019 Look, what she\u2019s talking about, earlier on in the program we played Christine O\u2019Donnell\u2019s TV ad, the audio from it, and I expressed an opinion about it, and many people disagreed with me on the basis you don\u2019t know how stupid voters in Delaware are, Democrat voters. She\u2019s going to need Democrat votes, you don\u2019t know how stupid they are, she\u2019s gotta play to them. So people have been writing me and calling me, ‘Rush, you think you know but you don\u2019t know how stupid the voters are. You know the elected Democrats, but you do not know how stupid they are.\u2019 And so now we got a confirmation they\u2019re dumb.
