CALLER: (poor speakerphone audio) Thanks, Rush. It\u2019s an honor to speak with you. Mega dittos. After 20 years of being a listener, it\u2019s good to talk with you.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Thank you, Bob, very much.<\/p>\n

CALLER: I was just telling Bo I\u2019m upset about the, as you point out, selective enforcement of the immigration policy, or any policy the government has. My wife came over here ten years ago from Ukraine. She\u2019d just finished up her Ph.D., and at the end of this month we\u2019re moving to Ukraine because the visa she came on had a two-year homestay requirement, and the government has chosen to enforce that and make her leave for two years, and it just galls me to watch this thing in Arizona with them telling the state of Arizona not to enforce that policy.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Yeah, I know what you mean. This is something that has been puzzling me. We are doing everything we can to keep the world\u2019s best and brightest out.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Exactly.<\/p>\n

RUSH: We are opening the floodgates to the ill-educated, uneducated, and uninformed. Now, there\u2019s a reason for this. It\u2019s much easier to turn the ill-educated, uneducated, uninformed into Democrats because that\u2019s who votes for them anyway.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Well, that\u2019s a good point. And, you know, one of the —<\/p>\n

RUSH: Well, look, I\u2019m not trying to be controversial with this. Why do you think Obama\u2019s for amnesty? It\u2019s the largest voter registration drive in the history of the country. Those are undocumented Democrats. Your wife and other highly educated people… The limits on highly educated immigration are incredible. It\u2019s not just your wife. Talk to the people in Silicon Valley. Talk to the people in the job sector that need engineers, highly, degreed and educated people. The number of them that can get in legally is minimal.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Yeah, we found that whole community — and, you know, one of the things they told us that (garbled) is because we didn\u2019t have enough debt. They said because our debt load isn\u2019t too high, it\u2019s not a hardship for us to leave the country.<\/p>\n

RUSH: You\u2019re kidding. <\/p>\n

CALLER: So we —<\/p>\n

RUSH: Your debt load wasn\u2019t high enough?<\/p>\n

CALLER: Yes. Because she paid off her schooling as she went, she didn\u2019t take out a bunch of student loans, she\u2019s graduated with no debt, and I don\u2019t have any debt.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Wait a second! Wait a second! You mean if your family owed more, if you were more in debt it would have helped her stay in the country, the theory being that she needed to work to pay off the debt?<\/p>\n

CALLER: Exactly. That\u2019s exactly the point I\u2019m making. Yes.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Who told you this?<\/p>\n

CALLER: I forget which bureau it was that was reviewing our case. They were requesting more evidence and within the request they put down that our debt load is not high enough and it doesn\u2019t constitute an extreme hardship. One of the immigration bureaus or departments.<\/p>\n

RUSH: It\u2019s Immigration and Customs Enforcement. <\/p>\n

CALLER: Yeah.<\/p>\n

RUSH: It\u2019s ‘ICE,\u2019 is the acronym. Are you sure about that? I mean, you\u2019re not exaggerating a little bit here?<\/p>\n

CALLER: No, I mean there are other reasons why they say we can\u2019t stay, but that was one of the things they cited in addition to the other thing, but the debt load wasn\u2019t high and so it doesn\u2019t constitute a hardship for us to have to leave.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Let me tell you something: It\u2019s very obvious that our government selectively endorses the law.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Absolutely.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Maybe we ought to selectively obey it. <\/p>\n

CALLER: (laughing)<\/p>\n

RUSH: No, don\u2019t take me literally on that.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Don\u2019t worry. I know I\u2019ll be the one that gets enforced if we chose not to obey it.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Well, the truth of the matter is that educated immigrants go to back of the line —<\/p>\n

CALLER: Yeah.<\/p>\n

RUSH: — and they always have. They go to the back of the line. They\u2019re behind the family reunification program. That\u2019s why we have chain migration. You\u2019re saying you didn\u2019t get a hardship waiver because you\u2019re not in debt, basically.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Well, that and the other reason we didn\u2019t get it is because I\u2019m not physically handicapped or ill.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Okay, well, do two things: Go fall down the steps and blow out your knee, and go buy a house you can\u2019t afford.<\/p>\n

CALLER: (laughing) Perfect. And I\u2019ll get loans on both sides, right?<\/p>\n

RUSH: Problem solved!<\/p>\n

CALLER: Yeah, amen.<\/p>\n

RUSH: All right.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Thanks, Rush.<\/p>\n
