CALLER: Rush, is this really you?<\/p>\n

RUSH: Yes!<\/p>\n

CALLER: Well, listen. I\u2019m 81 years old, I went to my doctor three weeks ago and I had to renew a prescription and they\u2019re setting up a new computer program there. I went into the office and they took my blood pressure and all that, and then they started firing a lot of questions at me, health and all that, and finally they get to: ‘Do you own a gun?\u2019 ‘I\u2019m 81.\u2019 And then I said, ‘What\u2019s that for?\u2019 And they said, ‘Oh, it\u2019s for the protection of the children.\u2019 Well, my four kids are in their fifties and they all can carry their own guns.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Wait a second. Who was asking you?<\/p>\n

CALLER: The nurse that works in the office there before the doctor comes. You know, they take your blood pressure and your — <\/p>\n

RUSH: Yeah, I\u2019ve been asked this question before, too. Yeah.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Yeah?<\/p>\n

RUSH: Yeah, I have.<\/p>\n

CALLER: A gun?<\/p>\n

RUSH: Yeah, I\u2019ve been asked that question: ‘Do you own a gun?\u2019<\/p>\n

CALLER: Well, what\u2019s that got to do with a medical condition?<\/p>\n

RUSH: It doesn\u2019t. It\u2019s all part of the prying into your personal life.<\/p>\n

CALLER: It sure is.<\/p>\n

RUSH: But I fully expect you do have a gun, you\u2019re 81 years old, you do, right?<\/p>\n

CALLER: Well, I tell you, I didn\u2019t tell her the truth, and my sister is 85 and I know damn well she\u2019s got a gun, too. <\/p>\n

RUSH: (laughing) I knew you had a gun, I can hear it in your voice. You probably got more than one gun and you\u2019re waiting for people like this to break into your house.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Yeah! I expected them to say, ‘Have you ever made any or do you know of anybody that\u2019s made derogatory remarks about our ruler?\u2019 I\u2019m expecting that yet. I know all this stuff is gonna go to the medical Gestapo there in Washington and I think it\u2019s a bunch of BS.<\/p>\n

RUSH: You are one pistol packing mama.<\/p>\n

CALLER: I am mad. They don\u2019t know how mad we are out here, and I\u2019m talking about us old ladies, too.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Let me ask you this.<\/p>\n

CALLER: What?<\/p>\n

RUSH: Shirley, did they ask you if you are or have you ever been a Republican?<\/p>\n

CALLER: No, they didn\u2019t, but it\u2019s a wonder they didn\u2019t.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Well, that\u2019s coming.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Okay. I couldn\u2019t believe they asked me that!<\/p>\n

RUSH: Well, I\u2019ve been asked this twice, and I don\u2019t remember when, by medical people when I went to the doctor\u2019s office, had to fill out some forms. I just don\u2019t remember where it was but I\u2019ve been asked that question twice: ‘Do you own a gun?\u2019<\/p>\n

CALLER: They say it\u2019s for the protection of the children. How are they protecting our children when they\u2019re getting \u2019em in debt up to their eyebrows?<\/p>\n

RUSH: Wait a second. You gotta remember, now, who these people are.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Oh, sure.<\/p>\n

RUSH: They probably do think that if you have a gun in your house it\u2019s endangering children.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Oh, yeah, well, that\u2019s a bunch of bull.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Of course your children would be in their fifties.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Yeah, they all carry their own guns.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Yeah. (laughing) I know it. Well, get used to it, I mean that\u2019s the invasive nature of the US health care system. Which reminds me, the New York Times: ‘Britain Plans to Decentralize Health Care — The plan would also shrink the bureaucratic apparatus, in keeping with the government\u2019s goal to effect $30 billion in ‘efficiency savings.\u2019 … The aim is clear: to shift control of England\u2019s $160 billion annual health budget from a centralized bureaucracy to doctors at the local level.\u2019 Central Planning doesn\u2019t work, and we\u2019re headed in that direction.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
