RUSH: This is Alan in Birmingham. Alan, thank you for calling, thank you for waiting, welcome to the EIB Network.<\/p>\n

CALLER: I want you to know that I really appreciate you giving me a chance to express myself. I\u2019ve been holding this in my craw for years. I don\u2019t know what you remember exactly, but when the Lewinsky thing came up and they announced it, they had all the CBS announcers and all that. Schieffer was very indignant as a father of girls in the defense of Lewinsky and the fact that an older man would take advantage of her. Then suddenly, maybe hours later, he mollified his views and decided, ‘Well, it\u2019s his personal sexual life.\u2019 Well, Schieffer is no man.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Wait a second. Now, I\u2019m not trying to be provocative here.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Yeah.<\/p>\n

RUSH: But I don\u2019t remember that.<\/p>\n

CALLER: I know, but I do.<\/p>\n

RUSH: So when the Lewinsky thing first hit, Schieffer was angry —<\/p>\n

CALLER: He was angry like any father would be.<\/p>\n

RUSH: — that a powerful man would take advantage of Lewinsky because Schieffer has daughters?<\/p>\n

CALLER: Yeah. You would be like me. I raised four children, two girls. By God, if that had happened to my girl I would have been after him, you know?<\/p>\n

RUSH: All right. Okay. Now, I\u2019m not disputing you.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Yeah.<\/p>\n

RUSH: I\u2019m just saying I don\u2019t remember.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Yeah. That\u2019s what I\u2019m saying. It happened so long ago but I want you to know once he saw maybe his job was in jeopardy he mollified his views to the more conventional idea: ‘Well, it was his personal sexual life.\u2019 Like heck it was! If that had been my daughter I\u2019d have been in his face, you know?<\/p>\n

RUSH: Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. So Schieffer modified his views, ‘Wait a minute,\u2019 and went along with the conventional wisdom which was, ‘Hey, it\u2019s his private sex life. It didn\u2019t affect the way he was doing his job.\u2019<\/p>\n

CALLER: That\u2019s right.<\/line> <\/line> RUSH: It\u2019s none of our business.<\/line> <\/line> CALLER: Right. But first he reacted like a father with some guts.<\/line> <\/line> RUSH: Yeah.<\/line> <\/line> CALLER: But eventually his guts were gone.<\/line> <\/line> RUSH: So you think somebody got to Schieffer.<\/line> <\/line> CALLER: Oh, I\u2019m certain they did. Yeah. I\u2019m sure it was his job. I\u2019m sure it was the way he wanted to present it.<\/line> <\/line> RUSH: We\u2019ll find that.<\/line> <\/line> CALLER: I know it. It\u2019s so long ago but I want you to know I\u2019ve always held that had in my heart, that Schieffer is not much of a man.<\/line> <\/line> RUSH: All right. Well, he\u2019s a liberal. That would go hand in hand.<\/line> <\/line> CALLER: And I thank you for letting me get it off my chest.<\/line> <\/line> RUSH: Right on, right on, Alan. Thanks very much for the call. Let\u2019s go back to last Sunday, CNN\u2019s Reliable Sources, Howard Kurtz interviewing Bob Schieffer about his interview with Eric Holder, and Kurtz says, ‘Let\u2019s start with the obvious question: ‘Why did you not ask Eric Holder about the former justice official\u2019s allegation that the case against the New Black Panther Party was dropped because of racial politics?”<\/line> <\/line> SCHIEFFER: I was on vacation that week. Uh, this happened; apparently it got very little publicity, and I just didn\u2019t know about it. I mean, God knows everything but, uh, I\u2019m not quite that good.<\/line> <\/line> KURTZ: (haughty chuckle)<\/line> <\/line> SCHIEFFER: Every once in a while something will slip by me and in this case it just slipped by me. If I\u2019da known it, I\u2019da asked about it. I\u2019ve known about this lawsuit. Uh, this is about something that happened back in 2008, but I think any reasonable person would also answer: There hasn\u2019t been a lot of news about it until this Justice Department official came forward.<\/line> <\/line> RUSH: Yeah, and the Justice Department official came forward before you went on vacation! The Justice Department official came forward a couple or three weeks ago. But I think Bob Schieffer\u2019s probably telling the truth. I don\u2019t think Bob Schieffer did know about it. I don\u2019t think Bob Schieffer had the slightest idea. Bernie Goldberg had a great analogy. I\u2019ll paraphrase this, but Bernie Goldberg on Fox last night had a great analogy. A terrorist bomb could go off in Bob Schiefferrs neighborhood and kill 30,000 people, but if it wasn\u2019t reported in the New York Times, Bob Schieffer wouldn\u2019t know it happened. Which is pretty descriptive of the shell that these people all live in. Charlie Gibson! Charlie Gibson didn\u2019t know what the ACORN tapes. He was on vacation, too. ‘Ha, ha, I didn\u2019t know about that! I certainly would have asked about it if I\u2019da known about it. I didn\u2019t know about it. I had no clue.\u2019 Brad Sherman (Democrat-California), ‘I didn\u2019t know about this Black Panther case. It wasn\u2019t in any of the media that I read.\u2019 It wasn\u2019t. It wasn\u2019t in any of the media, because there is no media.<\/line><\/p>\n

BREAK TRANSCRIPT<\/p>\n

RUSH: Linda. Welcome to the EIB Network. Hi.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Well hey, Rush, this is Linda. How are you?<\/p>\n

RUSH: I\u2019m fine and dandy. Thank you.<\/p>\n

CALLER: I\u2019m so excited to talk to you! My girls are in the other room listening. I called the Monday after the Sunday that the Bob Schieffer piece ran, I was getting ready for church, and I was watching him interview Eric Holder —<\/p>\n

RUSH: Yeah.<\/p>\n

CALLER: — and when he got to that last part and talked about how Americans are cowards about racism and he didn\u2019t mention the Black Panther issue, I just couldn\u2019t believe it, I was dumbfounded. So Monday around lunchtime that next Monday I was calling, and I called his number, I got it off of the Internet, and he answered the phone. And I couldn\u2019t believe it. I said, ‘Is this Mr. Schieffer?\u2019 And he said, ‘Yes, this is, who is this?\u2019 And I said, ‘It\u2019s Linda from Katy, Texas,\u2019 and he said, ‘I\u2019m sorry, I don\u2019t normally answer my phone, but I\u2019m expecting a call,\u2019 and I asked him my question, and first he said, ‘Oh, it just must have been an oversight on my part.\u2019 So I pressed him a little bit and I said, ‘If it had been the Klan in front of a polling station I think everyone would have been covering it,\u2019 and he said, ‘Well, wait a minute, what are you talking about?\u2019 And I gave him all the particulars about what happened in Philadelphia, and he asked me when did this happen, I was like, ‘Well, at the \u201908 elections,\u2019 and I told him he could get on YouTube and search it, he could see the footage of everything. And he said, ‘I\u2019m sorry, I just don\u2019t know what you\u2019re talking about. I have not heard this at all.\u2019 And I\u2019m like, well —<\/p>\n

RUSH: Wait a second.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Yes.<\/p>\n

RUSH: You called him after he was asked about the — <\/p>\n

CALLER: No, I called him not yesterday, but a Monday ago.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Oh. Oh, oh.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Yeah.<\/p>\n

RUSH: You called him before he was interviewed by Howard Kurtz.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Yes. Yes. I called him and he normally doesn\u2019t answer his phone but he was expecting a phone call and he picked up his phone.<\/p>\n

RUSH: By the way, did you know that there\u2019s a Bob Schieffer School of Journalism? It\u2019s at Texas Christian University.<\/p>\n

CALLER: No, I didn\u2019t know that.<\/p>\n

RUSH: There is.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Wow. Well, I must say he was very nice, very kind, he didn\u2019t try and rush me off the phone. He let me ask all of my questions and I told him, ‘Hey I was born in \u201967 in Mississippi so any time something like this goes on on either side, I just am always interested,\u2019 and I just couldn\u2019t believe that he didn\u2019t ask Mr. Holder the question, but he didn\u2019t know.<\/p>\n

RUSH: He didn\u2019t know about it.<\/p>\n

CALLER: And he seemed just as genuine as he sounded — I saw the clip with the CNN clip and he sounded exactly like that, I mean he really didn\u2019t know.<\/p>\n

RUSH: He didn\u2019t know about it and I\u2019m sure had he known about it he wouldn\u2019t have cared.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Yeah. You know, it\u2019s a little bit odd how so many things are skewed these days.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Remember, there is no media. Bob Schieffer, he thinks of himself as a journalist but he\u2019s not a journalist. And he\u2019s not a reporter. You know more than Bob Schieffer does about what\u2019s going on in your own country. You do. And it\u2019s not your profession. It\u2019s his profession to know, he doesn\u2019t know. And he happily admits it to you. So there is no media. There is no journalism. You know, it\u2019s their business to know these things. You make it your business to know. I make it my business to know all this stuff that they\u2019re doing. I make it my business to know what\u2019s going on in the country. They don\u2019t, because that\u2019s not their business. Their business is not to know what\u2019s going on. Their business is to spread propaganda and advance an agenda, or to stay a member of the ruling class. Now, here\u2019s something else, folks, thanks for the call, Linda, I appreciate it. If there is no journalism or there\u2019s no media any more than all these polls are worthless, too. We gotta play this all out. We have to stop looking the media for information in all the polling that they do, because their polling is nothing more than, quote, unquote, news making, but we know they don\u2019t make news. They advance agendas. They try to shape news. They try to shape opinion and that\u2019s the purpose of polling. <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
