CALLER: Thank you, sir. Rush, it\u2019s going to be a lot to digest, maybe 15 to 20 seconds\u2019 worth, and at the end I\u2019ll hang up and go listen and see how goofy my voice sounds over the waves and your response and then I\u2019ll say done and thank you.<\/p>\n

RUSH: All right.<\/p>\n

CALLER: I\u2019d like to inform you that I pulled the plug on my cable because I believe it\u2019s global knowledge that your program is at the very least three days ahead of all news outlets, and that\u2019s why I fired my cable company. Because I grew oh-so-very painfully tired of hearing topics that you discussed or hit on days earlier, and to me, sir, that\u2019s very impressive. My question is why aren\u2019t the right commentators all on the same page? I mean, look, you often have sound bites of all the left idiots, and it seems they\u2019re on the same page and they\u2019re pumping it out daily, but when one watches or listens to programs like yourself, or the right, and everyone, it seems like they\u2019re a shotgun blast. They all hit the target, but it wasn\u2019t the proverbial, quote, unquote, bull\u2019s-eye shot. You have your show, and all its glory, and all the big names have their show and their glory. And their topics to me as a concerned father, as a constitutionalist and a firm lover of his country and its history, maybe you should all meet in the desert or somewhere weird that no one knows about and get on the same page. I\u2019ll bartend. I\u2019m done, thank you.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Don\u2019t go away. Are you still there?<\/p>\n

CALLER: Yes.<\/p>\n

RUSH: What are you asking me? What are you asking me to comment on?<\/p>\n

CALLER: You\u2019re not all on the same page.<\/p>\n

RUSH: All who?<\/p>\n

CALLER: Well, all the right commentators.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Oh, you mean the various radio and TV talk show hosts?<\/p>\n

CALLER: Correct, sir.<\/p>\n

RUSH: You think everybody on the left says the same thing every day, every night, they\u2019re coordinated, but we on the right are not?<\/p>\n

CALLER: Right.<\/p>\n

RUSH: And you want to know why?<\/p>\n

CALLER: Right. It\u2019s like a shotgun blast. I mean every night, you know, you got —<\/p>\n

RUSH: (laughing) I already have a dwindling number of friends on my side of the aisle. If I answer your question honestly, I won\u2019t have any friends left on my side of the aisle. <\/p>\n

BREAK TRANSCRIPT<\/p>\n

RUSH: Hey, I just — (interruption) what, Snerdley, what? I can\u2019t answer the guy. If I answer the guy\u2019s question I don\u2019t have any friends left. Before I get into that I just got a note and I need you to help me understand this. Here\u2019s the note: ‘Mea culpa, anti-biz rep was before Obama spoke. Once he made another historic address, they\u2019ll know he\u2019s pro-business. They are the media.\u2019 Do you have any idea what that means? I don\u2019t, either. <\/p>\n

Now, as to why conservative commentators don\u2019t appear to be on the same unified page as the left is, well, in the first place, the left all get talking points from someplace, either the White House or the DNC or somewhere. I don\u2019t get talking points, and if I did, I wouldn\u2019t open \u2019em. I make the talking points. See, here I go, I cannot answer this question and hold onto any friendships that I\u2019ve got. And of course naturally the staff, ‘Oh, come on, it will be okay, come on, go for it, the audience wants to know. How come you say what you say and it pops up sometime later elsewhere and you guys don\u2019t seem to be all coordinated on the same page?\u2019 There is a perfectly simple and on-the-money answer, but it serves me no good purpose to answer it. Open Line Friday doesn\u2019t matter. There\u2019s a no-win in answering the question. Yeah, it\u2019s not no-win Friday, it\u2019s Open Line Friday. Okay, H.R. is giving me a possible answer, I put my head down and I do what I do and I\u2019m not responsible for what happens after that. Snerdley thinks that\u2019s a cop-out answer. <\/p>\n

CALLER: Hello, Rush, 20-year-listener dittos to you.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Thank you very much, sir.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Hey, about five or six callers ago you had a man ask you a question and you refused to answer it on the risk of alienating some of your friends and I\u2019m going to answer it for you. You are show prep for the rest of the industry, including the rest of the conservative talk show hosts. And that\u2019s the answer.<\/p>\n

RUSH: (laughing) That would not be the answer I would give if I were being honest.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Okay, well, can I say something else?<\/p>\n

RUSH: Yeah, go ahead, what is it? <\/p>\n

CALLER: I\u2019ll let you respond to that, but there\u2019s something that\u2019s entered the lexicon vernacular of the airwaves, and that is the statement, ‘Let me make this clear.\u2019 Well, Mr. President, it\u2019s clear, we\u2019re not stupid, we understood it the first time. It\u2019s clear, we know what you\u2019re doing, and we don\u2019t like it, so quit saying, ‘Let me make it clear.\u2019 It\u2019s clear enough. Thank you, Rush.<\/p>\n

RUSH: All right, thank you, Tom, I appreciate it. Tom, he\u2019s referring to — it wasn\u2019t long ago Snerdley diabolically cleared a caller on Open Line Friday who said, ‘On the left, it doesn\u2019t matter where you go, radio, television, newspaper, the left are always saying the same thing, always on message. But I listen to conservatives, and it\u2019s not the same. You say one thing, couple days later the rest of them say it or whatever. Why is that?\u2019 And there is an answer to this. It is not that I am show prep for the rest of the media. Folks, I\u2019m just telling you, no, it\u2019s not the answer I would give \u2019cause it\u2019s not the answer. I\u2019m not show prep for the rest of the media. That\u2019s not the answer I would give. To understand this you have to have a concept of career advancement. Let me give you an analogy and let\u2019s say you — well, it\u2019s tough to come up with an analogy here. There\u2019s no win for me to answer the question. The answer is right there. It\u2019s simple. <\/p>\n

If I were to tell you what the answer is, it would totally make sense, and it doesn\u2019t denigrate anybody. It wouldn\u2019t alienate anybody. It\u2019s a testament to the fact that we on the right are not a bunch of mind-numbed robots. Look, if you were in the Senate and Ted Kennedy was in the Senate, and he was the lion of the Senate, you would realize there\u2019s only one, so you would try to find your own niche in the Senate to stand out as doing something different or unique. That\u2019s as close as I\u2019m going to get. If Mr. Conservative is locked up, what are you going to do? Maybe go for Mr. Moderate, maybe go for Mr. Centrist, maybe go for Mr. Professor, Mr. Whatever. It\u2019s not a talent thing. It\u2019s a business decision that they are all making, and I don\u2019t blame \u2019em.
