This is a federal requirement, a federal law, you can\u2019t go out and do what we\u2019re supposed to do. We\u2019re in charge of it.\u2019 And somebody said, &#8216;Well, what about sanctuary cities?\u2019 I mean sanctuary cities are cities that allow illegals in, in violation of federal law. Why are they not under attack? Governor Jan Brewer of Arizona brought that up. An unidentified female reporter asked that question to the White House press secretary Robert Gibbs in the daily press briefing yesterday.<\/p>\n<p>REPORTER: There are dozens of so-called sanctuary cities that have their own policies that might potentially conflict with federal law, something that\u2019s led Governor Brewer to say that if Arizona is in violation of federal law then so are these localities. So my question is why did the president only ask DOJ to look at Arizona and not everywhere?<\/p>\n<p>GIBBS: Let me see if I can get &#8212; I don\u2019t know the answer to that but I will try to seek some, uh, some answer on, uh, some answer on that. I don\u2019t know.<\/p>\n<p>RUSH: (imitating Gibbs) &#8216;I don\u2019t know.\u2019 He doesn\u2019t know. &#8216;I don\u2019t know why sanctuary cities are fine, but Arizona is not. I\u2019m going to have to look into that.
