RUSH: Here\u2019s Judy in Warren, Michigan. Welcome to the EIB Network. Nice to have you with us.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Hi, Rush. I\u2019m a first-time caller, listened to you for a long time, and thanks for all you do. I just wanted to say that one of the things I think is a problem in the country is too many people have their heads in the sand and feel totally disconnected from the trouble in the Gulf and the trouble with the unprotected borders. It\u2019s like I think a lot of people feel it\u2019s not really affecting me, and they don\u2019t realize how it is.<\/p>\n

RUSH: I don\u2019t know. See, I got a story here in the stack. This is Rhode Island. ‘Rhode Island State Trooper Nuno Vasconcelos was patrolling Interstate 95 a few months ago when he came upon a two-car accident in heavy traffic. The trooper pulled up, stepped out of his cruiser, and asked one of the drivers for his license. The man said he did not have a license, and under questioning, confessed that he was here illegally from Guatemala.\u2019 They deported him. In Rhode Island they deport them.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Very good.<\/p>\n

RUSH: In Massachusetts they do not. But the point is I think that all over the country people are fed up with this. You\u2019re just not seeing it because the media is not reporting it.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Well, one thing, Rush, I\u2019d like your listeners to really think about, you know, really step back and think about, what would happen if Mexico and Canada changed places, if the territory of Mexico actually took up the provinces of Canada and we had Mexicans — not Mexicans, but Mexico on that whole northern border, then maybe they would feel like, ‘Wait a minute, you know, this would affect me.\u2019 But I think because, you know, Mexico\u2019s way down there and they\u2019re thinking, well, let the southern states deal, you know, let the border states deal with it, but just think about if the two countries changed places and we had Mexico on our northern border, then maybe a lot of people would wake up and say, ‘Well, yeah, you know, that would affect me.\u2019<\/p>\n

RUSH: Why? Because they\u2019re coming from the north?<\/p>\n

CALLER: Well, because you\u2019ve got —<\/p>\n

RUSH: Wait a minute, wait a minute, I don\u2019t mean to be argumentative, but I just cited Rhode Island, which is close to Canada. They deport them.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Right. Right. But I\u2019m talking about —<\/p>\n

RUSH: They don\u2019t give them in-state tuition to the state university.<\/p>\n

CALLER: But I\u2019m talking about just a lot of people in the United States that don\u2019t really realize the effect of the illegal immigrants.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Okay. Well, all I can tell you is the overwhelming polling data from across the country is Arizona is supported. Thirteen states are considering adopting Arizona\u2019s law. I think the people of the country are far more up to speed on all of these things than you think. You just don\u2019t see the evidence of it. You just don\u2019t see it. But it\u2019s there. Don\u2019t doubt me.<\/p>\n

RUSH: We keep hearing from people who on one issue or another say, ‘I don\u2019t think people get it. I don\u2019t think people understand just how bad it is.\u2019 I must respectfully disagree. I have my finger to the pulse of this country. Folks, I am telling you, the people of this country are wee-weed up, remember that? They are wee-weed up. Arizona could turn out to be the Alamo and Fort Sumter all rolled into one. Just be patient and wait for November. But we are all wee-weed up.
