RUSH: I think I witnessed a bit of a phenomenon today. I\u2019m not sure, and it\u2019s only anecdotal, it only happened here at the EIB Network. I don\u2019t know if it happened elsewhere. I don\u2019t know if it happened where you are. Obama comes on to discuss voter registration, the largest voter registration drive in history, amnesty, illegal immigration, and people stopped what they were doing and huddled around the television sets. Now, normally when Obama is on TV you hit the mute button and you keep walking or playing with your iPhone 4. With this speech people stopped and were glued to it and were outraged at what they were hearing. <\/p>\n

BREAK TRANSCRIPT<\/p>\n

RUSH: Now, he didn\u2019t get specific. There wasn\u2019t a whole lot of specificity today. It was a generalities speech much like one would expect to be given during a campaign. This was the setup today for what was to come later. Why do you listen to this program? Why do you listen? I will explain why you listen to this program by going back to this program March 22nd this year, this program, this is what I said.<\/p>\n

RUSH ARCHIVE: [T]he next big push will be amnesty for as many millions of illegal immigrants who are here. Obama is going to need their votes in 2012. The Democrats are going to need their votes at every election from this day forward, if down the road we have elections, and I\u2019m not joking. The Constitution has just been ripped to shreds. So why is anything in it safe? I want you to hear how Obama\u2019s going to sell this. I want you to hear how Obama\u2019s going to run around the country at these rallies, here\u2019s what he\u2019s going to say: (imitating Obama) ‘There are some people who don\u2019t like your skin color, who don\u2019t think you should be American.\u2019 He has come to divide. He has come to conquer. Is there anybody who now doubts what I meant when I said, ‘I hope he fails\u2019?<\/p>\n

RUSH: That\u2019s me talking about Obama right after health care, March 22, 2010. Here\u2019s the next big push. This morning at American University, Barack Obama.<\/p>\n

OBAMA: The ink on our Constitution was barely dry when, amidst conflict, Congress passed the alien and sedition acts, which placed harsh restrictions of those suspected of having foreign allegiances. A century ago, immigrants from Ireland, Italy, Poland, other European countries were routinely subjected to rank discrimination and ugly stereotypes. Chinese immigrants were held in detention and deported from Angel Island in the San Francisco Bay. They didn\u2019t even get to come in. The politics of who is and who is not allowed to enter this country and on what terms has always been contentious, and that remains true today.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Do I know this man, do I know this party, do I know the left or do I know them? March 22, Obama will play the race card. Here it is 101 days later and he comes up with practically every race and ethnicity you can conceive in talking about how they\u2019re all discriminated against, by who? Who is not mentioned here as being victims? Yeah, me. White people, particularly white guys. We are the victimizers. Here\u2019s Barack Obama telling a lie, the Arizona law.<\/p>\n

OBAMA: It\u2019s not just that the law Arizona passed is divisive — <\/p>\n

RUSH: Divisive.<\/p>\n

OBAMA: — although it has fanned the flames of an already contentious debate. Laws like Arizona\u2019s put huge pressures on local law enforcement to enforce rules that ultimately are unenforceable. It puts pressure on already hard-strapped state and local budgets. It makes it difficult for people here illegally to report crimes, driving a wedge between communities and law enforcement —<\/p>\n

RUSH: What?<\/p>\n

OBAMA: — making our streets more dangerous.<\/p>\n

RUSH: What? <\/p>\n

OBAMA: — and the jobs of our police officers more difficult.<\/p>\n

RUSH: What?<\/p>\n

OBAMA: These laws also have the potential of violating the rights of innocent American citizens and legal residents, making them subject to possible stops or questioning because of what they look like or how they sound.<\/p>\n

RUSH: There\u2019s the race card again, 101 days after I predicted it. Here is Obama, they don\u2019t want you here because of what you look like or how you sound. The Arizona law is practically word-for-word what the federal law is, which is not being enforced. The Arizona law is not divisive. It is attempting to secure the border of Arizona on Mexico because Obama will not do it. He lied through this speech. He said our border has never been more secure now that he\u2019s in charge. It puts pressure on already hard-strapped police and local budgets? It makes it difficult for people here illegally to report crimes? What, the crimes they commit? What are we talking about here? We\u2019re worried about the people here illegally reporting crimes? I know they\u2019re forced into the shadows. Driving a wedge between communities and law enforcement? The wedge is being driven by you, sir, between the American people and your regime. It\u2019s relentless. There\u2019s no stopping these people. Amnesty, it\u2019s headed our way. It is the largest voter registration drive in American history. <\/line> <\/line> In the midst of everything else falling apart, in the midst of everything else not working, what do you do? You just throw more chaos and confusion into the mix, and you just frustrate people all to hell so that they have no idea what\u2019s up, what\u2019s down, whether they\u2019re coming or going. Panic, chaos, tumult. That\u2019s the prescription. That\u2019s what this regime wants, and they are getting it. Obama says we cannot deport 11 million illegals. I don\u2019t know anybody who\u2019s saying we should. But anyway, it\u2019s another straw man argument. Here\u2019s what he said.<\/line> <\/line> OBAMA: The majority of Americans are skeptical of a blanket amnesty. They are also skeptical that it is possible to round up and deport 11 million people. They know it\u2019s not possible. It would tear at the very fabric of this nation because immigrants who are here illegally are now intricately woven into that fabric.<\/line> <\/line> RUSH: Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah.<\/line> <\/line> OBAMA: Many have children —<\/line> <\/line> RUSH: Oh, yeah.<\/line> <\/line> OBAMA: — who are American citizens. <\/line> <\/line> RUSH: Oh, yeah, yeah.<\/line> <\/line> OBAMA: Even if it was possible — <\/line> <\/line> RUSH: Hmm-hmm.<\/line> <\/line> OBAMA: — a program of mass deportations would disrupt our economy and communities in ways that most Americans would find intolerable.<\/line> <\/line> RUSH: I just don\u2019t know what to say about this. How can it be any more disrupted than it is? You know, ladies and gentlemen, Obama said the borders are too vast to secure. Whatever happened to this, ‘Yes, we can\u2019 business? Whatever happened to all this stuff, ‘Yes, we can\u2019? Whatever happened to all that optimism, ‘Yes, we can\u2019? Now it\u2019s, ‘No, we won\u2019t, no, we can\u2019t.\u2019 The president of the United States can do whatever he wants with people from foreign nations in times of war, and we are in a time of war. The alien act is still in effect. If the Arizona law\u2019s unenforceable, as he says, then what\u2019s the problem? Why even reference it, if the Arizona law can\u2019t be enforced then why even get your dander up about it? I wonder if Obama has ever even been to Arizona. Have you been to Arizona, Snerdley? Most of the people in Arizona, not all, but most of them look like Mexicans. How in the hell can you possibly be profiled? The law does not allow profiling anyway. Another lie and myth that is being told. <\/line> <\/line> Where in the United States is it impossible to report a crime without giving your ID? You call 911 and they don\u2019t ask you for your ID, don\u2019t ask for your driver\u2019s license number. This is all absurd. New York City has a campaign right now, they\u2019re reminding everybody you don\u2019t need to give any information about yourself to report a crime. It was possible for 11 million — I don\u2019t believe the number, I think it\u2019s a little higher — it was possible for 11 million illegals to come here. Why is it impossible for them to leave? Anyway, you see what\u2019s going on here. We get the Kagan hearings, and that\u2019s a disaster. This woman\u2019s no more qualified to be on the court, she\u2019s an Obama rubber stamp, but there\u2019s nothing that\u2019s gonna stop her. That\u2019s all going on, this is happening, purposely stirring the pot, purposely agitating. Even if it was a speech of nothing but generalities, it sets the stage for what comes next. The real purpose of the speech today, for those of you who say, ‘What are you getting so upset about, Rush? It was a bunch of pabulum, there wasn\u2019t any specifics.\u2019 No, no, no. You\u2019re right. There weren\u2019t a whole lot of specifics. But it set the stage for Obama to once again portray to the Hispanic voters in this country that only he and the Democrat Party is on their side.<\/line><\/p>\n

BREAK TRANSCRIPT<\/p>\n

RUSH: You know the weekend coming up? Do you know what it is? Dependence Day weekend. Not Independence Day weekend, not with this regime. This is Dependence Day weekend coming up. Obama takes to the microphone to further roil and divide this culture and this society on the anniversary of this nation\u2019s independence. Anybody who wants to tell me that any aspect of the destruction being wrought by this regime is not purposeful, is simply accidental, don\u2019t even try it. I\u2019m not open for persuasion on this. Obama wants to create an illegal alien Bill of Rights. That\u2019s the only way to look at this. He always wants to expand everyone\u2019s rights — illegal aliens, terrorists, Russian spies — except American citizens. Somehow our rights are to be infringed upon. <\/p>\n

BREAK TRANSCRIPT<\/p>\n

RUSH: President Obama has now removed any doubt that the interests of foreign nationals takes priority over that of American citizens. He may as well call what he\u2019s doing here the Illegal Alien Bill of Rights. He also cited Emma Lazarus today and her poem, and like most leftists do, he totally lied about it and misrepresented it — its relationship to and its location on the Statue of Liberty.<\/p>\n

BREAK TRANSCRIPT<\/p>\n

RUSH: This is Obama, another portion of his remarks this morning at American University talking about setting the stage for amnesty, the illegal immigration voter registration drive on our nation\u2019s Dependence Day weekend.<\/p>\n

OBAMA: Contrary to some of the reports that you see, crime along the border is down, and statistics collected by Customs and Border Protection reflect a significant reduction in the number of people trying to cross the border illegally. So the bottom line is this: The southern border is more secure today that at any time in the past 20 years.<\/p>\n

RUSH: What do we have here? This man\u2019s fit for the psycho ward today. Why is Arizona doing what it\u2019s doing then? Oh, \u2019cause see? Yeah! They\u2019re a bunch of racists this Arizona! I forgot. That\u2019s right. They\u2019re a bunch of racists because the southern border is more secure now that The One is in charge than it\u2019s been in 20 years. Fewer people are crossing. You know, in a small slice of reality, that may be true in Arizona because of the law which will not be implemented until next month anyway. But we have seen stories that illegals are leaving Arizona. But we all know the people trying to get in, we all know what\u2019s happening with the coyotes and drug runners and all this. It\u2019s just — and to have the president of the United States to lie to the American people and say that the border is more secure than at any time in the past 20 years? If that\u2019s the case, why are so many Americans so zeroed in on this issue? <\/p>\n

What will be their reaction when they hear the president say this?<\/p>\n

BREAK TRANSCRIPT<\/p>\n

RUSH: Here\u2019s Kelly in League City, Texas. You\u2019re first. I\u2019m really glad you held on. I appreciate your patience. Hi.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Hi, Rush. My question is in response to the president\u2019s remarks this morning when he said that we can\u2019t do a mass deportation of 11 million immigrants — I\u2019m sorry, 11 million illegal aliens. If we can educate them and we can give them health care and we can count them for the census, why can\u2019t we deport them?<\/p>\n

RUSH: I understand the nature of your question. They will come out from the shadows for a trip to the emergency room, for a trip to the doctor, for food stamps. But they won\u2019t come out of the shadows if when they do they\u2019re going to be sent home. That\u2019s the theory, that they\u2019ll go into hiding and all that. Now, I\u2019m not sure of the history of this. In the Eisenhower years we had a mass deportation program. I don\u2019t know how many were involved — and do you know the name of that program? I cannot, without getting myself into big trouble, tell you what the name of the program was.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Well, I just —<\/p>\n

RUSH: You can go look it up on Wikipedia. Look up ‘Eisenhower, immigration, slash, operation<\/a>,\u2019 blank, and see what name comes up.<\/p>\n

CALLER: I just think that the president is not telling the truth. We can do it, if we can do all these other things.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Well, no, we can\u2019t. This is the thing. Barack Obama\u2019s whole notion of, ‘Yes, we can!\u2019 is gone. There is no, ‘Yes, we can!\u2019 There is no optimism. But he doesn\u2019t want them to leave. The answer to your question is: They are potential future Democrat voters.<\/p>\n

BREAK TRANSCRIPT<\/p>\n

RUSH: All right. The Eisenhower deportation program, I\u2019m not going to tell you what the name of it was. You can look it up. We\u2019re just going to call it Operation Ike. And most of the people self-deported. When it was announced, they fled, which is what happened when the Arizona law was announced. There don\u2019t seem to be any really good figures on how many were forcibly deported under the Ike operation, but the INS estimated 500,000, 700,000 left of their own accord from Texas alone. I\u2019ve heard the number a million thrown around. In any case, why do we say deportation won\u2019t work? We\u2019ve never really tried it. We have tried amnesty, and we know that doesn\u2019t work, we know where that gets us. We did amnesty back in the eighties, and we granted amnesty to three million then and that was supposed to be the end of it. (interruption) Was Ike known as a racist? Well, no. No, no. Back then he wasn\u2019t known as a racist. He would be today. The unions, back in Ike\u2019s day, the unions opposed illegal immigration. They viewed it as a threat. Now the unions view illegals as potential new members, contributing members and Democrat voters.<\/p>\n

BREAK TRANSCRIPT<\/p>\n

RUSH: I want to go back to Obama\u2019s speech. I don\u2019t have the audio sound bites on this, but there are a couple things that I want to relate to you. Ed Morrissey caught one at HotAir.com. But here\u2019s something else Obama said talking about security at the border is tighter, better than it\u2019s been in 20 years. He said, ‘Today we have more boots on the ground on the southwest border than at any time in our history. Let me repeat that: We have more boots on the ground on the southwest border than at any time in our history. We doubled the personnel assigned to border enforcement security task forces. We tripled the number of intelligence analysts along the border. For the first time…\u2019 Get this, now: ‘For the first time we have begun screening 100% of southbound rail shipments and as a result, we are seizing more illegal guns, cash and drugs than in years past. <\/p>\n

‘Contrary to some of the reports you see, crime along the border is down. Stats collected by Customs and Border Protection reflect a significant reduction in the number of people trying to cross the border illegally.\u2019 Southbound trains? Southbound train shipments? We are seizing more illegal guns, cash, and drugs? Now, does this mean Obama thinks America is the problem? We\u2019re stopping southbound rail shipments, stuff going into Mexico (and we\u2019re finding guns, drugs, cash) but we\u2019re not doing it to stuff coming north. Could it be that Obama means to say here, although he didn\u2019t say it but he could be implying, that we are intercepting guns, cash, and drugs from illegals sending stuff back home? <\/p>\n

No, I don\u2019t think so, because he will not indict the illegals that way. He wants their vote, so he\u2019s not going to say anything that will convey that they\u2019re breaking the law that way. Ed Morrissey today, and this is a good catch. ‘Obama: American citizenship ‘Not a Matter of Blood or Birth\u2019 — Well, actually, it is a matter of birth, at least, in the sense of natural-born citizenship. The Fourteenth Amendment makes that all too clear, which is why the issue of ‘anchor babies\u2019 has been part of the immigration debate for the last several years.\u2019 As Mr. Morrissey points out: ‘Those opposed to that reading of the Constitution might like what Barack Obama had to say about it in his widely-anticipated speech on immigration today. <\/p>\n

”Being an American is not a matter of blood or birth, it\u2019s a matter of faith.” Matter of faith? Being an American is a matter of faith? <\/p>\n

Really? A matter of faith. <\/p>\n

‘Obama also blamed ‘resentment\u2019 to new immigrants to poor economic conditions. ‘Now, we can\u2019t forget that this process of immigration and eventual inclusion has often been painful. Each new wave of immigrants has generated fear and resentment towards newcomers, particularly in times of economic upheaval,\u2019 Obama said.\u2019 If being an American\u2019s a matter of faith, what is the religion, then? If being an American is a matter of faith, what is the religion? Mr. Morrissey points out that the religion has to be the rule of law, ‘devotion to the rule of law,\u2019 which Elena Kagan says doesn\u2019t exist — or at least she won\u2019t comment on it per se.<\/p>\n

RUSH: A quick question: Why does President Obama keep mocking our fears? Why does he keep making fun of whatever we\u2019re afraid of? We have laws because we\u2019re afraid of things. He talks about crime being down. How about crime by illegal aliens? Is that down?
