I got home yesterday afternoon and as such I go through the mail. And I hate going through the mail \u2019cause it\u2019s nothing but bills, and the stack grows and grows and grows and I pay \u2019em and all this sort of stuff. But I go through \u2019em, and there\u2019s this letter from the <img loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/live-rush-limbaugh.pantheonsite.io\/wp-content\/uploads\/01125107.Par.89380.ImageFile.jpg\" width=\"300\" height=\"250\" class=\"alignright\"\/>IRS. I said, &#8216;Oh, no, here it comes, the Obama audit shakedown.\u2019 I looked at the envelope, and I said, &#8216;Do I open it?\u2019 Yeah, I gotta open it, or should I just not open it and send it to the accountant. I opened it. It\u2019s not an audit. They claim that I overpaid by a significant sum in 2007. I mean a significant sum. They claim that I overpaid, I mean, we\u2019re talking seven figures. And I looked at it and I said, &#8216;It\u2019s not possible. They have screwed up.\u2019 <\/p>\n<p>So I scanned it, made a PDF copy, I sent it to the accountant. The accountant looks at it, gets back to me in a couple hours, &#8216;They\u2019ve made a mistake here, they have credited a quarterly estimate payment,\u2019 and the claim that I had overpaid was exactly equal to an estimated payment that I had made in 2007 that they credited to 2009 somehow, I don\u2019t know. No, I\u2019m not going to get a refund, but if I hadn\u2019t said anything I would. If I hadn\u2019t said anything, I would. I don\u2019t know if it\u2019s a setup or not, but, you know, honesty is honesty, and eventually they would have found their error, and they woulda just wanted it back with interest. This is three years old and they were not offering any interest on it, this is an overpayment. They said look for your refund in four to eight weeks. So the accountant says, &#8216;If you get a check, don\u2019t deposit it, I\u2019m going to call these people and we\u2019re going to straighten it out. If their records are correct and somehow we screwed up, fine and dandy, but I don\u2019t think so, I think it\u2019s their error.\u2019 So we\u2019re going to point out to the IRS that they made an error in my favor and we\u2019re telling them, &#8216;No, we don\u2019t deserve the money, I did not overpay, you screwed up.\u2019 <\/p>\n<p>Now, I\u2019m wondering if this will buy me any goodwill when the eventual Obama shakedown audit comes. I asked my accountant. He said, &#8216;Are you kidding? You think you can buy any goodwill?\u2019 (laughing) Now, he didn\u2019t say it\u2019s a setup. Snerdley thinks it\u2019s a setup. I don\u2019t think it\u2019s a setup. I think they actually goofed up. I looked at it, this does not happen. Three years it took \u2019em to find this.
