RUSH: The New York Times is not happy today. A story written by Charlie Savage: ‘The House Armed Services Committee has dealt a blow to President Obama\u2019s hopes to shutter the military prison at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, by unanimously…\u2019 U-nan-i-mous-ly! That means every Democrat voted to keep it open. ‘[U]nanimously approving legislation that would prohibit creating a detention center inside the United States.\u2019 Now, what happened? What happened to this brilliant, job-creating idea to send the detainees to that prison not being used right now in Illinois? That was Dick Durbin\u2019s idea, and remember, ‘Oh, yeah, it\u2019s gonna create a lot of jobs out there. There won\u2019t be any problem having these people there.\u2019 <\/p>\n

Now all of a sudden, out of nowhere, ‘The House Armed Services Committee has dealt a blow to President Obama\u2019s hopes to shutter the military prison at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, by unanimously approving legislation that would prohibit creating a detention center inside the United States. … [L]ate Wednesday, the House committee unanimously approved a defense bill for 2011 that bans spending money to build or modify any facility inside the United States to house Guantanamo detainees, according to a summary of the bill. It says the committee wants to see ‘a thorough and comprehensive plan that outlines the merits, costs, and risks associated with utilizing such a facility. No such plan has been presented to date. The bill prohibits the use of any funds for this purpose.” Now, the cynic in me says this was always going to be the case. <\/p>\n

The cynic in me — and I could go back and we could get the audio archives where I told you: ‘Folks, they\u2019re never going to close Guantanamo Bay. They\u2019re not going to shut it down.\u2019 All of this is just a bunch of pap, BS, loose lips in order to satisfy the kook fringe that is the Obama base. They\u2019re not gonna close it, and they\u2019re not gonna bring detainees to the United States. Maybe Khalid Sheikh Mohammed, but that\u2019s it. Every aspect of this was a lie. Where\u2019s Durbin today? Durbin ought to be outraged! So should every politician from Illinois who told us what a great job moving those detainees to a new prison in Illinois would be. Now not only can they not move \u2019em to Illinois, they can\u2019t move \u2019em anywhere. I\u2019m here to tell you: This was the game plan all along. They were never going to close it. <\/p>\n

Remember that first day in office, the executive order? (doing Obama impression) ‘What are we doing here, Greg?\u2019 Oh, we\u2019re closing Guantanamo Bay, one year from now.\u2019 What happened to that executive order? What happened to that? Well, the guy who wrote it is unceremoniously dumped or moved somewhere else, Greg Craig. He\u2019s gone. I\u2019d like to be a fly, insect wandering around these fringe kook left-wing website control stations today. I mean, this is one of the main reasons they voted for Obama! They thought torture was going on down there.<\/p>\n

BREAK TRANSCIRPT<\/p>\n

RUSH: From my radio show archive January 16th, 2009 — this is before Obama was immaculated. January 16th, 2009, was right about the time I first went public and said, ‘I hope he fails.\u2019 Here is what I said January 16th, 2009, a full five days before the immaculation of Obama. ‘Don\u2019t deal in things that aren\u2019t real. Don\u2019t get yourself worked up about something that isn\u2019t going to happen. We have real things to get worked up about here. But closing Gitmo isn\u2019t going to happen. It\u2019s not going to happen. It is not going to happen. He\u2019s not going to close Gitmo.\u2019 January 16th, 2009. Since we\u2019re talking about Gitmo and foreign policy, this foreign policy is worse than Se&ntilde;or Wences coming here and denouncing our own laws and our own states. <\/p>\n

Obama\u2019s foreign policy is: Blame America. It\u2019s not just a disgrace, but it\u2019s a total failure. Everything the man is doing is an abject failure from our perspective, our perspective being, ‘Is it good for the country?\u2019 Now, it\u2019s understandable, folks, to reach the boiling point when a guest of the United States insults the United States while being honored in the United States. Se&ntilde;or Wences, Felipe Calderon, the Mexican president, insulted the United States and insulted the state of Arizona, while being honored by Barack Obama and the Democrats in the United States. And it\u2019s understandable to reach the boiling point, to bounce off the walls when our president listens to the insults and says, ‘Amen!\u2019 And it is understandable to want to put your fist through the TV when you see Democrats in Congress — our Congress — give him a standing ovation when he does this. <\/p>\n

But that\u2019s just the least of it. Obama\u2019s foreign policy — apologize for America, blame America, criticize America — is not only a disgrace, it is not working, it is failing. In fact, it is so bad, it is backfiring. Okay, you tell me: Is it working in the Middle East? Are we handling Iran or are they handling us? The last time I saw there was a big picture with raised hands as though it was an election victory night with Ahmadinejad, Lula from Brazil, and the prime minister of Turkey celebrating over the fact that Iran was going to be exporting uranium to those two countries — and the ChiComs and the Russians are in the on the deal, too. They\u2019re very happy. Are we getting the support of other nations or is Iran? <\/p>\n

Key nations like Brazil and Turkey are supporting Iran, not the United States. So right now it\u2019s Iran 2, Obama 0. And how we doing with our allies? Is Britain still talking to us? Is Germany still talking to us? Is France still talking to us? Here we give a dinner for a puppet, Mexico, to come in and criticize us, falsely accuse us of human rights violations and discrimination, violating our core values, bashing the state of Arizona. Meanwhile, the prime minister of Israel shows up, and he\u2019s lectured and given three hours while Obama goes to dinner to change his mind on these ‘settlements\u2019 in Jerusalem. I\u2019m sorry, al-Quds! Al-Quds is the Islamist preference in pronouncing Jerusalem, as uttered by John Brennan, counterterrorism chief. It seems the only foreign land that Obama\u2019s policy is working is the nation of journalists, the left-wing nation of journalists. <\/p>\n

That seems to be the only place it\u2019s working. (interruption) Well, I don\u2019t even think they like us. It\u2019s been posited that the world likes us but they don\u2019t respect us anymore. They never have liked us. They feared us, our enemies. That\u2019s what we cared about: Our enemies feared us. Now they no longer fear us. In addition to not liking us, now they\u2019re laughing at us. I famously said that I hoped Obama would fail. Well, his foreign policy has. When do we get Plan B? When does America demand Plan B? What is Plan B going to be? Plan A was apologizing for America. Plan A included criticizing America. What\u2019s Plan B? Apologizing for individual states? Maybe we are already into Plan B of the Obama foreign policy. And then what\u2019s Plan C going to be? When\u2019s he gonna start apologizing for St. Louis? When\u2019s he going to start apologizing for Memphis? When\u2019s he gonna start apologizing for Dallas? When\u2019s he gonna stop criticizing and apologizing the United States? <\/p>\n
