RUSH: From the Los Angeles Times today, right on cue (actually it\u2019s an AP story, but it doesn\u2019t matter): ‘Who\u2019s discriminated against in America? More people say Hispanics than blacks or women – and it\u2019s far from just Hispanics who feel that way. An Associated Press-Univision Poll found that 61 percent of people overall said Hispanics face significant discrimination, compared with 52 percent who said blacks do and 50 percent who said women. The survey also underscored how perceptions of prejudice can vary by ethnicity. While 81 percent of Latinos said Hispanics confront a lot or some discrimination, a smaller but still substantial 59 percent of non-Hispanics said so. … The AP-Univision Poll compiled the views of 901 Hispanics, which were compared with the results of a separate AP-GfK survey of the general population.\u2019 So right on cue — right after Se&ntilde;or Wences bashes the state of Arizona — Latinos pass blacks as the most-discriminated-against-in-America poll. <\/p>\n

So imagine this. You\u2019re minding your own business, and you get a phone call, and somebody on the other end says, ‘Do you think Latinos are discriminated against? Yes or no.\u2019 <\/p>\n

‘Yeah.\u2019 <\/p>\n

‘What about blacks? You think they\u2019re discriminated against?\u2019 <\/p>\n

‘Yeah!\u2019<\/p>\n

‘What about women?\u2019 <\/p>\n

‘Yeah.\u2019 <\/p>\n

‘You think white people are discriminated against?\u2019<\/p>\n

‘Hell, no!\u2019<\/p>\n

I\u2019m sorry. I don\u2019t think that was even asked. What kind of polling data is this? It just keeps piling on and on and on. It doesn\u2019t stop. <\/p>\n

RUSH: Indianapolis, Jason, you\u2019re up first today on Open Line Friday. It\u2019s great to have you here, sir. Hello.<\/p>\n

CALLER: How you doing?<\/p>\n

RUSH: Very well.<\/p>\n

CALLER: I was actually on that poll, that Univision\/AP poll. They called and it was clear through the poll that they either wanted you to make yourself out to be a tree hugging hippie or a far left-wing militant activist, but they actually ended up… I got a call from an AP reporter earlier this week and they quoted me in the story that he put up the AP website. And interestingly enough, he left out the pieces that would have sort of impugned his point of view. Right below my quote he actually misrepresents Arizona law and says that it ‘requires\u2019 state law enforcement officers to check the status of Hispanics, the legal status of Hispanics.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Now, I\u2019m looking for your quote. I only have one page of the story. I generally only print out one page of the story. Who called you? You say you participated in a poll; who called you?<\/p>\n

CALLER: Well, the poll was done by AP and it was a week or two ago, I can\u2019t remember for sure, spent 45 minutes on the phone with the guy —<\/p>\n

RUSH: There were two, they did two. There was AP\/Univision and there was AP-GfK. Now, Univision surveyed Latinos. <\/p>\n

CALLER: Well then it must have been AP-GfK.<\/p>\n

RUSH: AP-GfK surveyed the general population.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Yeah, it must have been that one then. <\/p>\n

RUSH: Okay.<\/p>\n

CALLER: It\u2019s a one page story. My quote is I don\u2019t know, two or three paragraphs down. It\u2019s just a small little thing about how I\u2019m a lawn care specialist and I work with Hispanics. He was shocked that I didn\u2019t think there was much discrimination against Hispanics but I told him, you know, the people that I work with and the clients that we work for don\u2019t treat them any differently than anybody else.<\/p>\n

RUSH: You know, here\u2019s my question about this — and, by the way, great answer. My question is: If America is so racist — if we are so racist and discriminatory against Hispanics, if we\u2019re so terrible on human rights issues — why do they all want to come here? Would somebody ‘splain that to me? And then once they get here, if we are so damned racist against Hispanics, if we\u2019re so discriminatory against Hispanics, if we are so terrible on human rights issues — after they have gone through all the hell it takes to get here — then why do they stay? Why do they fight so hard against being sent back home? If this place is as rotten as the AP and Univision want us to believe, if the majority Latinos are the most discriminated against people in the country, why do they want to come here, folks? And then when they get here, why do they want to put up with all that? Why do they want to stay? Why do they fight so hard to avoid being sent home? Well, the fact of the matter is the whole story is Bupkus! The whole thing is BS, it\u2019s not news, it\u2019s a poll used to make news; it\u2019s just like these attacks now on Rand Paul as a racist. Believe me, this is not about Rand Paul.
