CALLER: Yeah, hello, Rush.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Hi.<\/p>\n

CALLER: I wanted to talk about this New York bomber, this terrorist bomber. You know, I want to say that our president boasts, and he puts his best interests, his interests, in front of what\u2019s best for the American people.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Whoa, wait, wait. Did you actually hear him say that, that he boasts he puts his best interests ahead of ours?<\/p>\n

CALLER: He shows it time and time again.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Oh, yeah, but he doesn\u2019t say it?<\/p>\n

CALLER: No. No. He\u2019s smoke and mirrors, Rush.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Yeah, okay, got you.<\/p>\n

CALLER: All smoke and mirrors.<\/p>\n

RUSH: I misunderstand you.<\/p>\n

CALLER: We\u2019re all stuck with cotton candy in our hands and he wants us to take a bite. I seen the other day on Inside Edition, and this is an entertainment show, keep in mind an entertainment show, I see where they come out and they\u2019re at one of the two residences where he lived, this terrorist lived in Connecticut, and they found this evidence, they found all these letters and documents, and they called the FBI to research the stuff that they already went through. Well, apparently they missed this stuff, and they came back, and this is live TV on an entertainment show. First of all, I want to know what is an entertainment show doing on what should be a forensically sterile — one would argue they would knock out the whole block.<\/p>\n

RUSH: This is actually a quite a good question. Inside Edition took a crew up to this poor guy\u2019s foreclosed home?<\/p>\n

CALLER: Yes. They\u2019re boasting, too. Keep in mind, they are boasting, they\u2019re filming this while they\u2019re calling the FBI, the FBI comes back, it\u2019s made —<\/p>\n

RUSH: Now, wait. I need to catch up with you a minute here.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Okay.<\/p>\n

RUSH: You\u2019re ahead of me. I have a hearing problem. I need to catch up with you here. So Inside Edition, which we all know is an entertainment show —<\/p>\n

CALLER: Correct.<\/p>\n

RUSH: — dispatches a crew to this guy with money woes, the jihadi with money woes, foreclosed on house by Bush in Connecticut.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Correct.<\/p>\n

RUSH: And they\u2019re looking through evidence up there, they\u2019re talking to neighbors —<\/p>\n

CALLER: Correct.<\/p>\n

RUSH: — and the Inside Edition crew calls the FBI?<\/p>\n

CALLER: You nailed it.<\/p>\n

RUSH: And told them that they found additional evidence and the FBI came back?<\/p>\n

CALLER: Exactly. Unbelievable.<\/p>\n

RUSH: You gotta be kidding me!<\/p>\n

CALLER: No, I am not! It\u2019s unbelievable. It\u2019s several nights ago on Inside Edition. It is live on TV because, keep in mind, both of these people have a huge problem.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Wait a minute. Now somebody just flashed me a note here, I can\u2019t believe this, that Inside Edition found Shahzad\u2019s passport in the garbage, the FBI had missed it.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Unbelievable.<\/p>\n

RUSH: They found his passport in the trash can, after the FBI had left. So the FBI came back to look at that. And so Inside Edition found stuff that should have been found the first time. And you\u2019re right, the real question is, where was TMZ? (laughing) <\/p>\n

CALLER: Unbelievable.<\/p>\n

RUSH: (laughing) How did TMZ —<\/p>\n

CALLER: One would argue, nobody should be within a block of that house. That should be a sterile crime scene. They should be looking at hairs, fibers, everything.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Jeez. I can\u2019t believe that Inside Edition — are you sure it wasn\u2019t the O\u2019Reilly Factor?<\/p>\n

CALLER: (laughing) No. No. These are from people that like to boast. Both sides — you see, the funny thing is —<\/p>\n

RUSH: Well, that would fit.<\/p>\n

CALLER: — administration that boasts, that puts their interests in front of — and I want to be clear — in front of what is best for the American people\u2019s interests. And what is this thing, Rush, of telling everybody every little detail on how we caught this guy? Shouldn\u2019t we keep a little of this stuff secret? Shouldn\u2019t we not tell the terrorists all our little tricks on how we get \u2019em?<\/p>\n

RUSH: Well, you have a point there, but what\u2019s happened here — see, the New York Times has found in this story a gold mine of instances to advance other agendas: the Bush housing bubble problem, the mortgage foreclosure problem, gun control. This guy\u2019s given the New York Times a treasure trove of agenda items. The New York Times has never cared about our secrets. They\u2019ve been publishing them for years. I think what\u2019s happening here is that it\u2019s clear that a lot of dumb luck just led to this guy\u2019s capture, and the administration really can\u2019t claim a whole lot of credit here but yet they\u2019re trying to. But if Inside Edition comes up with evidence that the FBI missed, and then Inside Edition calls the FBI back, you\u2019re right, Inside Edition may have contaminated the forensics of the scene. Investigators have not said whether they have reviewed the documents or contacted the newspapers about them, but the Connecticut Post, New York Times reported yesterday that their reporters found Shahzad\u2019s tax records, his college transcripts, time cards from a 2001 temporary accounting job, after the FBI left. So it wasn\u2019t just Inside Edition. We do know that the New York Times and the Connecticut Post were on the case as well.<\/p>\n

CALLER: What are these people doing there?<\/p>\n

RUSH: Who?<\/p>\n

CALLER: It\u2019s all about boasting. See, this is a do-nothing administration. And I want to make it clear, do nothing. Nothing for the American people.<\/p>\n

RUSH: It is interesting, though, of all the questions you\u2019ve asked, here is a guy who nearly blew up Times Square, Inside Edition wants to go up there and find out about this guy as though he is a celebrity. It\u2019s very, very puzzling, very puzzling.<\/p>\n

CALLER: And, Rush, the liberals are still talking about Dan Quayle and potato. And where is this on the news? Could you imagine if George W. Bush\u2019s administration did this? Maybe a low fly by —<\/p>\n

RUSH: I know what you\u2019re saying.<\/p>\n

CALLER: — jets, they would go on and on.<\/p>\n

RUSH: I know what you\u2019re saying out there, Gary. So the Connecticut Post and the New York Times found these documents the FBI missed, and now this guy is a celebrity in Pakistan. Maybe Inside Edition has a version that\u2019s telecast, broadcast in Pakistan. Who knows. Gary, thank you very much for the phone call.<\/p>\n
