RUSH: Thank you, sir.<\/p>\n

CALLER: And another proud participant in the Cure-A-Thon doing God\u2019s work. It\u2019s great stuff.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Thank you, sir. We\u2019re honored to have you be part of turkeys just listening on the phone a minute ago hearing Obama down in Miami it sort of reminded me of Longshanks in that movie Braveheart. ‘The problem with America is it\u2019s full of Americans.\u2019<\/p>\n

RUSH: (laughing) <\/p>\n

CALLER: You just can\u2019t figure that out.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Edward Longshanks. You know, that\u2019s a problem with Western Civilization: There are too many Westerners in it!<\/p>\n

CALLER: Exactly. The reason I called, basically goes back to the NASA decision yesterday and the speech, the new direction, et cetera, and the fact that I think it tells you a lot of about the administration when you start to look at whether they\u2019re being consistent in their approach to the various ‘problems,\u2019 quote, that they\u2019re trying to address. Now, for the last 18 months or so we\u2019ve been hearing how the health care program was required because private industry was screwing over America and you just couldn\u2019t trust them in any regard. No matter what, they were going to be looking out after, you know, maximizing profit —<\/p>\n

RUSH: Right.<\/p>\n

CALLER: — and minimizing services to people. But then when it comes to NASA, which I would argue was probably one of the two main positive programs that the government actually supports in addition to the Department of Defense, all of a sudden, ‘Oooh, the government really has no place in this!\u2019<\/p>\n

RUSH: Yeah, yeah, yeah.<\/p>\n

CALLER: We need to back off for it to be efficient and to have the proper direction given to it.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Exactly right. Exactly. Just like there are going to be cuts coming in the defense budget in order to pay for all of this — that\u2019s what happens in authoritarian regimes. A couple, three years, four years out, that\u2019s when that\u2019s going to start happening. NASA represents American progress. ‘Privatize that, privatize that. We want to control health care. We don\u2019t like space travel. That\u2019s a waste of federal money. We can\u2019t buy votes with space travel. We can\u2019t buy votes with the defense budget.\u2019<\/p>\n

BREAK TRANSCRIPT<\/p>\n

<\/a>RUSH: A New York Times\/CBS poll found that — and they didn\u2019t tell you this themselves, you have to go into the poll itself to find this information. New York Times\/CBS News poll found that a majority of Americans, 52%, think the policies of the regime and its leader, Barack Obama, are moving the United States toward socialism. Fifty-two percent. This is the poll published on April 14th. It surveyed the political, racial, and social opinions of both the general public and self-described members of the tea party movement. It found that while tea party participants are generally more conservative than the broader population, they\u2019re also better educated, slightly more successful. But 52%, not just tea party people, a majority of all Americans, 52% think the policies of the regime are moving the country toward socialism. Speaking of NASA, last night in Miami, Star Island, President Obama, the home of Emilio and Gloria Estefan.<\/p>\n

OBAMA: Some of my Republican friends who were warning that after health care passed this was going to be Armageddon. So I went to NASA today and I asked some of the guys, I said, ‘Are asteroids coming or –‘ they told me America is going to be okay.<\/p>\n

RUSH: The leader of the regime with his stand-up comedy act again. You know, speaking of NASA, NASA, folks, is exactly the kind of thing that requires government involvement. NASA is exactly what government was built to do. By cutting back on NASA and turning all of that over to private companies, as if that\u2019s going to ever happen, what\u2019s going to happen to the defense spin-offs? Do you realize how much of the creativity, the ingenuity that went into the space program has bled into everyday life, including our military? NASA was effectively a quasi-military defense program in and of itself. That\u2019s probably another reason why the left hates it so much, because it has military applications. That\u2019s why Obama is finally fulfilling their dream of doing away with NASA. <\/p>\n

Neil Armstrong, it\u2019s very rare for him to speak out on anything, he seldom does it. He must have been completely infuriated to speak up now. Then again, he\u2019s another one of these old fogies who remembers an American that Frank Rich says is no more. We wouldn\u2019t have intercontinental ballistic missiles today, the ones we have today, without NASA. Oh, we might have eventually gotten them, but we got \u2019em sooner and first because of NASA. It\u2019s no wonder that something with genuine ingenuity, genuine entrepreneurism, genuine application to the betterment of life, it\u2019s no mystery to me that Obama would want to shut that down.
