CALLER: Hello, Rush.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Hi.<\/p>\n

CALLER: I\u2019m so glad to be finally speaking to you. I\u2019ve been listening to you for 20 years. I like what you say.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Thank you, sir.<\/p>\n

CALLER: And over the course of time I\u2019ve grown to like you very much, too. What I want to talk about, and I think is very important, is there\u2019s a vast left-wing conspiracy of guilt and professed guilt. First let me tell you who I am so that maybe you can get to know me a little bit better, like I know you, and you hear what I have to say, maybe you\u2019ll like what I say, too. Okay, here I am. I\u2019m 80 years old, married to my wife Joyce for 56 years. She had eight kids in ten-and-a-half years, which is a remarkable accomplishment. I\u2019m the father of eight kids, grandfather of 24, and we are grandparents to six great grandchildren. My parents were Polish immigrants, came here in 1910, and we grew up in poverty during the Depression and everything else, but there was an air of thanksgiving in our family that that\u2019s what we\u2019re missing in this country today. That thanksgiving made this country what it is. We say God bless America and we mean it. There is thankfulness in saying God bless America. This country was built by folks who were thankful to be here. <\/p>\n

RUSH: I gotcha.<\/p>\n

CALLER: All right.<\/p>\n

RUSH: We\u2019re on the same page, by the way.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Yeah, I know, that\u2019s why I called you. I\u2019ve been trying to get through to you for a long time. In fact, I sent you some e-mails, too. But here\u2019s what happened. Everything changed, and you\u2019ll attest to this, too, because everything changed on January 22nd, 1973. This country split right down the middle. In the Bible it says choose you this day who you will follow. That\u2019s the Bible\u2019s statement and it\u2019s either man or God. And people chose, people made a choice, and when they did make that choice, they chose either thanksgiving through God or guilt for killing of babies. I\u2019m a pro-life guy and this is where it all started. There\u2019s nothing that split this country down the middle more than Roe v. Wade, nothing. Today, it\u2019s prevalent. Democrats, pro-choice; Republicans, pro-life. It\u2019s amazing, isn\u2019t it?<\/p>\n

RUSH: Speaking of which, I didn\u2019t print it out. I\u2019m going to have to find it during the break, but Obama has just allocated $142.5 million to have people sent to Planned Parenthood for HIV testing.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Correct.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Again, it\u2019s $142.5 million dollars we don\u2019t have, but he\u2019s still going to do it. I\u2019ve often espoused a theory very close to yours — the date that he gave, January 22nd, 1973, is the day the Supreme Court found Roe v. Wade, abortion is a constitutional right, and you\u2019re right, it has roiled the country. Because of that we\u2019ve never voted on it. The people have never had their say. It was just forced on us by an activist judge, activist court, and it sanctioned the legal killing of human beings. And there have been millions of them aborted over the ensuing years. And I\u2019ve always said that once a society becomes comfortable with that, gradual erosion of the entire sanctity of life has to happen. And then you start, ‘Well, you know what, if we\u2019re gonna kill people in the womb because they\u2019re basically an inconvenience to us, then the old people are an inconvenience to us, too,\u2019 and it isn\u2019t going to be long before people, the Hemlock Society and euthanasia and Dr. Kevorkian sprung up and we got him back in the White House now, except his subject is the US economy instead of an elderly person. And it has certainly roiled the country. <\/line> <\/line>I know what you mean by there is a conspiracy of guilt. Obama was elected on guilt. He certainly wasn\u2019t elected on substance. Obama was elected by a bunch of people who thought they could assuage their guilt over being called racists simply because they live in America, our original sin of slavery. Even people today who have never owned slaves were made to feel guilty about it. A lot of the welfare state is based on guilt. You know what? I\u2019m going to make myself a better person. I\u2019m going to see to it that you pay higher taxes so that I can give your money to unfortunate people. And I make myself feel really, really good, and I have transferred guilt to people to get them to agree with my raising their taxes, and it\u2019s gotten to the point now where there\u2019s so much guilt that people who go to work and try to earn a profit are being told they are the problem. And so they go, ‘How can I change this opinion? I\u2019ll just be quiet about it. I\u2019ll just be quiet about it.\u2019 So the point is well taken. I know exactly what he means.
