RUSH: President Obama is not happy with the State-Controlled Media. Late yesterday afternoon in Portland, Maine, the leader of the regime said this.<\/p>\n

OBAMA: It just happened last week. (laughter) It\u2019s only been a week. (applause) Can you imagine if some of these reporters were working on a farm and you planted some seeds and they came out next day and they looked and, ‘Nothing\u2019s happened! There\u2019s no crop! (applause) We\u2019re going to starve! Oh, no! It\u2019s a disaster.\u2019 It\u2019s been a week, folks.<\/p>\n

RUSH: That\u2019s President Obama scolding the media for polling on his health care plan. Well, unlike planting crops — (laughing) — you pretty much know what you\u2019re going to get. And when you plant the crops, the only bad thing that can happen is if they don\u2019t grow. But we know because of economics, we know because of past experiences, we know what high taxes cause to happen to people. In fact, I just saw something. These new CAFE standards that Obama has ordered into effect yesterday are going to raise the price of a car anywhere from $1,100 to $5,000. It\u2019s going to put 50,000 people out of work because they\u2019re going to be making fewer cars, people are going to hold onto their cars longer. All of this is on a bogus proposition, global warming, carbon emissions and all this, to upgrade these power trains to get an average fleet mileage 35 miles per gallon, a.) we\u2019re all going to be driving around in little smart cars, and b.) they\u2019re going to cost $5,000 more. <\/p>\n

Light trucks are going to be hardest hit. Most consumers who now have light trucks and love them, and they won\u2019t be able to afford to get \u2019em. And they may not be able to make \u2019em. The 35 miles per gallon average corporate fleet means whatever cars you make, the average mile per gallon that they all get gotta be 35 or better. So you can make a light truck, small truck that gets 18, but you better be making something that gets 60 or 50 or 40 miles to the gallon to offset that in your fleet or a bunch of others. But even so, those are still going to have to ramped up and modified to meet certain standards, CAFE standards and are gonna cost you $5,000 more. I mean everything this guy is doing is going to cost everybody a lot more, in taxes, in expenses, in health care insurance premiums, you name it. So Mr. President, we don\u2019t need to wait four years for all of this disaster to happen. We want to repeal it. We want to stop it, and he had a word for those of us who feel that way.<\/p>\n

OBAMA: Now that it\u2019s passed, they\u2019re already promising we\u2019re going to repeal it. (booing) They\u2019re going to run on a platform of repeal in November. And my attitude is, go for it. You try to repeal it. (applause)<\/p>\n

RUSH: Go for it. You try to repeal it. That\u2019s not vitriolic. That\u2019s not troublesome, is it? Go for it. <\/p>\n

BREAK TRANSCRIPT<\/line><\/a>RUSH: Let\u2019s first go back to yesterday afternoon to Portland, Maine, and we\u2019re going to stay in Portland, Maine, for the second sound bite. This is Obama making good on my prediction of what he would say after the health care bill was signed.<\/line><\/p>\n

OBAMA: After I signed the bill, I looked around. (laughter) I looked up at the sky to see if asteroids were coming. I looked at the ground to see if cracks had opened up in the earth. You know what? It turned out it was a pretty nice day. (laughter) (applause) Birds — birds were still chirping, folks were strolling down the street, nobody had lost their doctor, nobody pulled the plug on Granny. (laughter)<\/p>\n

RUSH: And nobody got the bill yet. Now, also, folks, nobody pulled the plug on Granny, so here he is in Portland, Maine, yesterday pointing out that, ‘Hey, look, we signed this thing and none of these things these people said would happen, happened.\u2019 But when he\u2019s talking about the criticism of the bill, he says.<\/p>\n

RUSH: He was upset at the media for polling. It\u2019s been a week, it\u2019s only been a week and why are you criticizing it, and yet earlier in the speech, why, asteroids aren\u2019t dropping out of the sky, nobody pulled the plug on Granny. He does sound a little bit like a stand-up comic there as opposed to a president. But I\u2019ve never thought he sounded much like a president. Everyone got lulled into thinking he sounded like a president because he was smart, clean, articulate, all the stuff that Biden said about him, and it convinced a lot of pseudo-intellectuals that he was smart like they think they\u2019re smart.
