CALLER: Rush, I love you. I would have your child. And I hate to do this to you, but you were wrong yesterday. And you weren\u2019t just like able to say, ‘Oops, did I say that?\u2019 It\u2019s a big, ‘Did I really say that?\u2019 When you said, ‘America has realized…\u2019 I\u2019m glad the auditing firm is on suspension this month. When you said that America has realized we made a big mistake by electing Obama, the consequences would have been we\u2019d have elected John McCain. And if McCain was president, we\u2019d have cap and trade and we\u2019d have national health care.<\/p>\n

RUSH: No, no, no, no. No, no, no, no. The two don\u2019t go together. You\u2019re putting A and B together and not getting C. <\/p>\n

CALLER: But, Rush, they have to go together!<\/p>\n

RUSH: Look, McCain doesn\u2019t figure into the thinking here. Nobody is taking, ‘Oh, I wish we\u2019d have voted for McCain.\u2019 They\u2019re saying, ‘This is not what we voted for.\u2019 They\u2019re saying, ‘We got screwed, we got tricked, we got defrauded,\u2019 but they\u2019re not saying, ‘Oh, my gosh! I wish we had McCain in there.\u2019<\/p>\n

CALLER: Oh, Rush, the only alternative would have been McCain and if McCain would have been there, you know — I know that you know because I\u2019m a student of EIB; I\u2019m a critical thinker because of you — if McCain was there, McCain believes in global warming, he believes in national health care, and he\u2019d have brought along all those moderate Olympia Snowes with him.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Mike? Mike, even if they invent an artificial womb and even if you could get Eric Massa in the equation, I would not have your child and I wouldn\u2019t let you have mine. But I\u2019m just telling you, my friend, old buddy: This is not about McCain. This is not about McCain. When I spoke yesterday, ‘The American people now realize what a mistake it was electing this guy,\u2019 they\u2019re not saying, ‘Oh, my gosh, I wish we\u2019d elected McCain.\u2019 They\u2019re saying, ‘We got defrauded. We got shafted.\u2019 By the way, nobody is thinking that we\u2019d have had the same stuff only worse if we hadn\u2019t elected Obama, because nobody can imagine it being any worse, except you. A lot of people agree with you about McCain, but McCain doesn\u2019t fit in this analysis. I appreciate your passion on this, and I don\u2019t disagree. We\u2019d have had a lot of ‘crossing the aisle,\u2019 walking across the oil and get along, get along. But both of these are if\u2019s, if we\u2019d done this.
