RUSH: Antonio, 15 years old from Walden, New York. It\u2019s great to have you on the EIB Network. Hello.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Yes. Hi, Rush. I\u2019m a 15 year old, and I have a question: Do you think that the Republicans will ever take back the Senate and the presidency and the House again?<\/p>\n

RUSH: Well, it\u2019s tough to make a prediction of certitude right now. But according to all the latest polling data they will win back the House. <\/p>\n

CALLER: Yes, I know.<\/p>\n

RUSH: In fact Charlie Cook, the estimable consultant, said yesterday that it\u2019s hard to find a scenario where the Republicans don\u2019t take back the House this year. The Senate, the worst I see — the worst I\u2019ve seen, the predictions — is that the Democrats could lose nine, which would make it pretty much a toss-up. But if things keep going the way they\u2019re going and if Obama keeps leading the Democrats down in suicide, kamikaze path, yeah. I\u2019m looking and it seems to me like — I\u2019ll tell you something else, Antonio. When I heard Obama say he\u2019s rather be a successful one-term president than a mediocre two-term president…<\/p>\n

CALLER: Yeah, my dad told me that.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Yeah, well, you know, the right way to analyze that is, ‘Why…?\u2019 Let me ask you a question.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Yes?<\/p>\n

RUSH: Why is a president a one-term president? What usually happens? He loses, right?<\/p>\n

CALLER: Yeah.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Why does he lose? People are fed up with him! So Obama told us that his successful one-term presidency would so anger voters that he would not be reelected. So his definition of a successful presidency is one that really angers a majority of voters in this country. Now, that\u2019s kind of frightening. And it\u2019s leading a lot of people to think, ‘Maybe this guy does only want to work one term.\u2019<\/p>\n

CALLER: Mmm-hmm.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Because he\u2019s on a kamikaze mission here with his health care plan and taking his party with him, and behind closed doors they\u2019re not happy about this. They don\u2019t like this being revived. So if the election were today, it be damn close, Antonio, very close.<\/p>\n

CALLER: A couple more questions, too. One, do you think the Americans will ever trust the Democrats again?<\/p>\n

RUSH: Yes.<\/p>\n

CALLER: You do?<\/p>\n

RUSH: Yeah. I\u2019ve seen it happen too many times. It\u2019s going to be tougher to them because they\u2019ve never been this blatantly obnoxious. But the Democrats have a marvelous way of packaging. Just look at Obama. I don\u2019t know if you were paying much attention during the campaign, but Obama campaigned in such a way that nobody that voted for him thought they were going to get this. They thought they were going to get the exact opposite. They\u2019re very good at packaging what they intend to do as ‘compassion\u2019 and ‘growth\u2019 and ‘love for country\u2019 and all that sort of stuff. They lie. They lie and they\u2019re very good at lying, and in this case the Republicans, led by our nominee, Senator McCain, simply were gutless in criticizing Obama because he was black and they were afraid they\u2019d be called racist. So there was no criticism of Obama. There was no pressure on Obama. Obama was not challenged to be specific about anything. So he got a free ride. My hope is that we keep focusing on Democrats are liberals and never forget this and make it very difficult for them to ever win majorities again.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
