General Powell, the prototypical Republican, strategic endorsed Obama for president at a time designed to hurt McCain the most after telling us that John McCain was the perfect candidate for the Republican Party: Moderate, willing to work with the Democrats across the aisle and all of that. So General Powell was on with Bob Schieffer, Face the Nation, yesterday, who said, &#8216;Do you think the political system is broken?\u2019<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/live-rush-limbaugh.pantheonsite.io\/wp-content\/uploads\/01125115.Par.89380.ImageFile.jpg\" width=\"300\" height=\"146\" class=\"alignright\"\/>POWELL: The American people I think see the extreme positions being taken &#8212; too left on the Democratic side, too far right on the Republican side. Uh, the tea party movement has also now become a force in American politics. So our system is not broken. It\u2019s a great system but it\u2019s in some disarray right now, and the American people are looking for their leaders to fix it. They\u2019re looking for the White House to fix it, and they\u2019re looking for leaders in both the Republican Party and the Democratic Party, in the House and Senate to start finding ways to compromise and get the country moving and not just scream at each other.<\/p>\n<p>RUSH: Okay, there we go: The typical inside-the-Beltway state of mind. When liberals are not getting what they want done, somehow the system is broken! System isn\u2019t broken. They\u2019re just a minority, a small minority but they got a Big Media on their side. So let\u2019s see here. It\u2019s in disarray. &#8216;The American people are looking for their leaders to fix it, they\u2019re looking for the White House&#8230;\u2019 No. General Powell, the American people understand the White House is who\u2019s breaking it. The White House and the Democrat Party have already broken it. We don\u2019t want them to be part of the equation. They don\u2019t fix things. The American people are rejecting the Democrat Party. The American people are rejecting Barack Obama. The Republican Party isn\u2019t doing anything. They don\u2019t have the votes to do anything. The next question: &#8216;Well, regardless of who is right and who is wrong&#8230;\u2019 Of course, see, that doesn\u2019t matter. In the Beltway it doesn\u2019t matter who\u2019s right and who\u2019s wrong. Just: Do you agree and support liberals? Question here: &#8216;Regardless who\u2019s right and who\u2019s wrong, the critics, especially Republicans, are having a field day with what\u2019s going on right now. The CPAC conference, this is the conservative group that met in Washington this week, your fellow Republicans.\u2019<\/p>\n<p>POWELL: I would caution my Republican friends that he\u2019s got three years to go, and in that three years the American people are going to want to see some progress and not just claims that this guy is out of office and we\u2019re going to do everything to destroy him or that somehow he is a &#8216;socialist\u2019 taking over the country. Have we so lost our faith in this country that we think one person, one man can be can suddenly change our entire system? That\u2019s kind of absurd. And, in fact, you\u2019re seeing through the tea party movement and to what the Republicans are doing that no one person can &#8212; can change the country that way.<\/p>\n<p>RUSH: Okay, so General Powell here is warning conservatives that Obama has three years left and to try to destroy him and call him a socialist, is not right. The question I think is not properly framed. His question: &#8216;Have we lost faith in this country so that we think one person, one man can suddenly change our entire system?\u2019 It\u2019s kind of absurd. We have one man that\u2019s trying, and he\u2019s gotta whole political party behind him, General Powell. And right now, General Powell (ahem) I\u2019m not sure, but I don\u2019t think you\u2019re doing anything to stop it. I haven\u2019t heard you criticize any of this. In fact, you said, General Powell, that this is what the American people wanted: Bigger government, higher taxes. It doesn\u2019t look to me like that\u2019s what they want, now that they find out that\u2019s what they\u2019re going to get. I don\u2019t see you criticizing any of this. He\u2019s got tea party people on his mind, however. He\u2019s mentioned it in these two bites. We have one more. Schieffer said, &#8216;The former vice president almost on a weekly basis has said something about the president\u2019s putting the nation\u2019s security at risk. He talked about &#8216;dithering.\u2019 He talked about how we should still have the option of using waterboarding if necessary when we catch these guys. Are we less safe? Has Obama made this country less safe?\u2019<\/p>\n<p>POWELL: The Transportation Security Administration created by George Bush is still in action working our airports. The Director of National Intelligence was created by President Bush and it is still, under President Obama, working hard. Counterterrorism authorities and forces are hard at work. Our law enforcement officials are hard to work. We have gone after the enemy in Afghanistan with 50,000 more troops. We have continued the policies that President Bush put in place with respect to, uhh, Iraq, and so I don\u2019t know where the claim comes that we are less safe.<\/p>\n<p>RUSH: Did I really just hear that? So Mirandizing the Fruit of Kaboom Bomber, bringing Khalid Sheikh Mohammed to New York at a $200-million-a-year-for-security-only trial, having this new Muslim outreach guy that spoke up in favor of Sami Al-Arian (who\u2019s been convicted of raising money for the Islamic Jihad while he was teaching at Florida Atlantic University, or some South Florida university). He denied that he spoke out for the guy, then said, &#8216;Oh, you know, I just remembered I did vouch for the guy once. &#8216; Why do we need &#8216;Muslim outreach\u2019? I thought Obama was the guy to do that? The Fort Hood shooting. This lunatic professor was so into Obama and you still not read that she\u2019s a Democrat, Amy Bishop. We had the attempted terrorism at Fort Dix in New Jersey. We had the routing and the death at the recruitment center in Arkansas. <\/p>\n<p>What am I missing here? We didn\u2019t have any of this stuff going on when George W. Bush was in office &#8212; and, by the way, just because he\u2019s still got people filling these offices is not enough. We don\u2019t know that these people have the slightest clue what they\u2019re doing. We don\u2019t know if these people think that terrorism is our fault. The odds are they do if they\u2019re part of Obama\u2019s team. We deserve to be hit, General Powell. Democrats have said that! Because we are stealing all the world\u2019s resources and terrorists are poor. Terrorists are poor because of us and we support Israel. They have a right to be mad, and we should understand why they\u2019re mad. That\u2019s the kind of people running these positions now. This Brennan guy? A lot of people have accountants but they steal sometimes. Just because you got the position filled doesn\u2019t necessarily mean it\u2019s good.
