CALLER: Thank you, Rush, for taking my call.<\/p>\n

RUSH: You bet, sir.<\/p>\n

CALLER: I\u2019ll be honest. I\u2019m a little frustrated. When it came to the Trumpists, everybody was knocking them and discounting them and you explained it so well. But when it comes to the people that don\u2019t want to vote for Trump — and I don\u2019t mean the establishment. I don\u2019t mean the elites that are afraid of losing their jobs, everything you explained. I mean, the common man, and I think there\u2019s an analogy that needs to be drawn. The way I see it, you have someone in prison and it\u2019s really bad, the warden is really obnoxious, but you know what you\u2019re getting yourself into. They say there\u2019s a new warden coming and he\u2019s unpredictable. You don\u2019t know. He could be nice; he could be nasty.<\/p>\n


\nRUSH: Hey, hey! Wait, wait, wait, wait. Wait, wait. Just hold it. Hold it. Don\u2019t go on. I\u2019ve lost what you\u2019re analogizing. Are you saying we\u2019re all in prison and the president is the warden?<\/p>\n

CALLER: Absolutely.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Okay.<\/p>\n

CALLER: What people don\u2019t understand is that we\u2019re really in solitary confinement, so it can\u2019t get worse. But I\u2019m not anti-Trump. I\u2019m just saying, I\u2019m surprised you haven\u2019t really explained it, the #NeverTrump movement.<\/p>\n

RUSH: See, I think I have gotten hoarse explaining anti-Trumpism. Who have I not explained why they\u2019re anti-Trump sufficiently to you?<\/p>\n

CALLER: The common man. Not the elites, not the party establishments, the common-man people that do not want to vote for Trump even though they do not want Hillary Clinton, either.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Okay, when you say “common man,” are…? I\u2019m not trying to nitpick here. Are you talking about famous people, non-famous people? You\u2019re talking about who?<\/p>\n

CALLER: Non-famous, everyday people you meet in the grocery store or work or whatever you do.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Well, I have limited contact with people in the grocery store, but I could tell certain things that… His “coarseness.” One of the things that I heard from a lot of people who were supporting him who then really started having doubts is when he tweeted out that picture of Ted Cruz\u2019 wife. But it was… That bothered them. But his comment about Megyn Kelly and blood coming out of her didn\u2019t (at least, not that I heard). People found that somewhat humorous.<\/p>\n

Other people have told me that they don\u2019t think he knows anything, that he\u2019s faking it, and he\u2019s too off the wall and too unpredictable and dangerous, because he may not be really qualified to have that much power in his hands as president of the United States. Other people, some just don\u2019t like his personality. Some are jealous of him. I mean, it runs the gamut. It\u2019d be hard to say that there\u2019s a dominate reason why.<\/p>\n

CALLER: What about unpredictability? Like you said, people love watching football \u2019cause of the unpredictability, and Trump has said he likes to be unpredictable.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Right.<\/p>\n

CALLER: And there are a lot of people that like him for it, but at the same time there are a lot of people that are scared of it. They don\u2019t like unpredictability.<\/p>\n


\nRUSH: Unpredictability\u2019s fine because you want stability. You know when you\u2019re watching a football game that its gonna be four quarters and nobody\u2019s gonna break the rules in the middle of it and get away with it. There\u2019s still some stability. There\u2019s some order to it. With Trump, that\u2019s what people fear might go by the wayside, some of the people. They can\u2019t explain to me how this will happen. I mean, I don\u2019t know. The average, ordinary people that don\u2019t like Trump? You got Democrats that don\u2019t like him for one reason. You got Republicans that don\u2019t like him for a whole host of other reasons.<\/p>\n

Focusing on that, I think, misses the point.<\/p>\n

The guy\u2019s gotten more votes than any other Republican in the Republican primaries in history. So focusing on the people that don\u2019t like him… I think the biggest mistake people continue to make with Trump — and, by the way, again, I need to say this not as a Trump supporter. I\u2019m just telling you. I will never vote for Hillary Clinton, nor will I take any other action guaranteed to elect her, like third-party. But I think Trump is so outside… Politics is cookie cutter.<\/p>\n

Politics has a playbook. Politics has its lists of dos and don\u2019ts. Politics has its people that you do not offend, it\u2019s people that you do not rub the wrong way. Trump\u2019s violated every damn rule! And they continue to analyze Trump and predict his future based on the antiquated ways of analyzing and judging everybody else in politics. I don\u2019t think you can. And the evidence to that ought to be abundant. And that scares people, too. Anyway, I hope that helps, Joshua.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Just fine, sir. Thanks much.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Good. Long-term listener, first-time caller. I wanted to comment on something you said in your opening monologue and had a life-changing question to get your help on.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Sure.<\/p>\n

CALLER: First off, I should preface this by saying that I am a student at Liberty University and a Ted Cruz supporter — well, former supporter. But I supported him from the time he announced to the time that he dropped out. Earlier in your monologue you had made the premise that why aren\u2019t Republicans as upset over the last seven, eight years of Obama as they are of a Donald Trump candidacy. But I think that the premise is incorrect. I think that Republicans are upset at what Obama has done, but when they see Donald Trump, they see the same type of policies that are going to be enacted in their own party. So it creates some panic.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Wait. Let me see if I understand this. Your theory is that Trump is actually, for all intents and purposes, a liberal Democrat, and there —<\/p>\n

\nCALLER: I would say he\u2019s a RINO.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Pardon?<\/p>\n

CALLER: I would say he\u2019s a RINO. Yes, sir.<\/p>\n

RUSH: He\u2019s a RINO. Okay, when they see Trump, they see just another Democrat.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Correct.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Well, then, if they had the capacity to get mad at a Democrat, why is it only Trump that they get mad at?<\/p>\n

CALLER: Because I think they see it in their party. Like when the Democrats are doing it, they say, “Well, the Democrats are destroying their own party or destroying the country,” and they can point blame at the Democrats. So when it\u2019s in their own party, to go on an analogy —<\/p>\n

RUSH: Wait. No, no. The whole thing breaks down. The Republicans don\u2019t think the country\u2019s being destroyed. That\u2019s the breakdown here. The Republicans… Nobody in Washington agrees with people not in Washington that we have a crisis here. They don\u2019t think that. They don\u2019t think the Democrats are destroying the country. I mean, they wouldn\u2019t agree with so much of what the Democrats are doing if they thought that. I think that\u2019s the breakdown. That\u2019s one of the many disconnects, actually. But I get the premise. Your premise is the reason that they get so mad at Trump is \u2019cause he\u2019s a RINO and he\u2019s exposing \u2019em, and that\u2019s what they\u2019re mad at.<\/p>\n

It\u2019s an interesting theory, but I don\u2019t quite think that\u2019s what\u2019s going on here.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
