This is Thursday.<\/p>\n<p>CALLER: Excuse me?<\/p>\n<p>RUSH: Have you gotten over the Super Bowl yet?<\/p>\n<p>CALLER: Um, no.<\/p>\n<p>RUSH: I didn\u2019t think so.<\/p>\n<p>CALLER: Absolutely not.<\/p>\n<p>RUSH: That\u2019s gotta be tough.<\/p>\n<p>CALLER: It was very, very painful. It ruined my Sunday, and on top of that it ruined my weekend. But regardless, I just got connected to a true, true patriot and God love you.<\/p>\n<p>RUSH: Thank you very much, sir.<\/p>\n<p>CALLER: Thank you. My question to you is why don\u2019t you use the term &#8216;progressive\u2019 instead of liberal? I mean, if you research how many times Obama has used the term &#8212; and the last two weeks you have Hillary Clinton saying she\u2019s on board with being a progressive &#8212; and as of late within the last, hmm, maybe 36, 24 hours, you have McCain\u2019s daughter saying she\u2019s a &#8216;progressive Republican,\u2019 (snorts). I mean, come on. I mean what\u2019s your understanding of the history of the progressive movement and does it scare you?<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/live-rush-limbaugh.pantheonsite.io\/wp-content\/uploads\/01125113.Par.89380.ImageFile.jpg\" width=\"400\" height=\"341\" class=\"alignright\"\/>RUSH: They\u2019re a bunch of liberals and communists and they do scare me, and the reason I don\u2019t call them &#8216;progressives\u2019 is because the word &#8216;liberal\u2019 creams \u2019em. You poll liberal versus conservative. Look at voter identification. Forty percent of the American people call themselves conservative. Twenty percent of the American people call themselves liberals. Progressive is their way of disguising who they are. Progressive and liberal&#8230; What is progressive mean? Forward, advanced, looking forward. &#8216;We\u2019re smarter than you. We\u2019re more advanced. We\u2019re ahead of the game.\u2019 They\u2019re not progressives. These people are the furthest thing from progressives. I\u2019m not going to let them get away with redefining their own terms. That\u2019s all they\u2019re trying to do. They\u2019re not progressives. They\u2019ve gone anywhere from progressives&#8230; They never use the word liberal to describe themselves. Never, ever. Because it\u2019s death. It\u2019s death at the ballot box. That\u2019s why I\u2019m mystified the Republican Party doesn\u2019t use it more often. McCain finally got around to doing so late in the campaign. But don\u2019t quote Meghan McCain. I mean, &#8216;progressive Republican\u2019? It\u2019s not fair to Meghan McCain. (sigh) I mean, what is the&#8230;? She\u2019s just an airhead. I don\u2019t know what else to say. They want to call themselves progressives, then they\u2019re engaged in tomfoolery and trickery, and I\u2019m just not going to let \u2019em get away with it.
