CALLER: Hi, Rush. Thanks for taking my call.<\/p>\n
RUSH: Yes, sir.<\/p>\n
CALLER: So, I saw you pretty disappointed yesterday when the president criticized Governor Kemp. You\u2019ve always said that the media, despite their best efforts, cannot separate voters from Trump.<\/p>\n
RUSH: Yeah.<\/p>\n
CALLER: Do you think we might be headed toward that territory where some of his support does start to get frustrated?<\/p>\n

RUSH: Well, in a circumstance like this virus, this pandemic and so many people losing their jobs, I notice that the president is now almost daily in these briefings assuring everybody, “We\u2019re coming back. We\u2019re gonna come back better than ever! We\u2019re gonna come back faster than anybody believes.” He\u2019s trying to maintain his optimism and talking that way, and I sincerely believe that he thinks that he can make it happen.<\/p>\n
I believe he believes in himself that much. As to… Look, there\u2019s always the risk that any politician runs in angering their base, and whether or not his comments on Governor Kemp did that or got close to it? I don\u2019t believe so because he made it clear after lodging his criticism, to then say, “The governor\u2019s free to do what he wants.<\/p>\n
“I wouldn\u2019t have done it. I wouldn\u2019t have. I\u2019ve told him I wouldn\u2019t do it,” but he didn\u2019t command him not to do it, and then of course the press dutifully brings up Dr. Fauci to answer the same question. Dr. Fauci says, “Well, if I were advising…” Well, you are, pal. That\u2019s why they asked you the question. “If I were advising the governor, I certainly wouldn\u2019t do this.”<\/p>\n
And I have some questions about this, by the way. There are 26 million people out of work here. So, I don\u2019t think he ran the risk. I don\u2019t think he distanced himself. I don\u2019t think he caused the wedge. But, yeah, you\u2019re right. He\u2019s the only one who can. The media has proven in four years they can\u2019t do it. You\u2019re absolutely right.
