When President Obama paid a visit to Senate Democrats to give a pep lecture,he encountered Arkansas Senator Blanche Lincoln, who was not in the mood for happy talk. During the Q&A, she asked Obama to take on “people at the extremes” of both parties– especially Democrats “who want extremes.”<\/p>\n

Those would be the Democrats whom Obama chief of staff Rahm Emanuel recently called the “f[-ing r-words].”<\/p>\n

But the grief didn\u2019t stop there, my friends. Senator Lincoln then took dead aim at Obama himself. She quoted a constituent who believes nobody in the administration “understands what it means to go to work on Monday and make a payroll on Friday.”<\/p>\n

Obama\u2019s answerwas to blame Bush. Here\u2019s his cockamamie reply: “If the price of certainty is for us to adopt the exact same proposals that were in place for eight years leading up to the greatest economic crisis since the Great Depression, the result is going to be the same.” And then he tried to mollify her by saying: “Blanche is right that we sometimes get bogged down in ideology.”<\/p>\n

Just last week, Obama claimed he\u2019s not an ideologue. This week– different crowd– he gets “bogged down in ideology.” (Must be Bush\u2019s fault.)<\/p>\n

But Blanche, you\u2019re trying to have it both ways:You voted for the “extreme” liberal policies you are suddenly against, andthat\u2019s why your approval rating is 27 percent –and it\u2019s why,come November,you\u2019ll be making payroll outside of the Senate, honey.(No intention to be disparaging, sweetie.)<\/p>\n
