CALLER: Hi, Rush. How are you?<\/p>\n

RUSH: I\u2019m fine. Thank you.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Good. Hey, I\u2019m calling to see if your chin hits the floor as mine did yesterday when I read from the website of our Channel 6 which is ABC News here, reporting that Indiana\u2019s largest school district, our public school system, Indianapolis Public Schools, had announced the decision to close school — well, actually delay school two hours on Monday following the Super Bowl.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Yeah, I saw that.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Yeah, \u2019cause they felt like, you know, it\u2019s just a little too much to ask the teachers and bus drivers to get up so early the next morning when they\u2019ve been watching the football game.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Right, when the game ends at 9:30.<\/p>\n

CALLER: I didn\u2019t realize this, but I guess back in 2007 when we were in the Super Bowl there were so many bus drivers that didn\u2019t pick up the children and left the children out in the cold, they wanted to avoid that happening again this year, so they just decided to delay by two hours.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Yeah, I saw that, the bus drivers just didn\u2019t show up. They must have stayed up late watching all the ESPN reruns and highlights of the game —<\/p>\n

CALLER: Well, now, I mean, here\u2019s the thing —<\/p>\n

RUSH: The expert commentary on ESPN after the game. Ahem.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Well, wouldn\u2019t you, as, you know, whoever the school bus drivers and teachers\u2019 bosses, wouldn\u2019t you say, ‘You know, jobs aren\u2019t so easy to find and we just thought we\u2019d let you know if you don\u2019t pick up your kids tomorrow, you won\u2019t have a job.\u2019 <\/p>\n

RUSH: Now, now, now, now — no, no, no, no, no, no. You\u2019re so old-fashioned.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Yeah!<\/p>\n

RUSH: That\u2019s the way America used to work!<\/p>\n

CALLER: Well, and then it came out today that the Department of Education has told them, sure, that\u2019s fine, but you\u2019re going to make up the two hours, and they\u2019re just floored, can\u2019t believe they have to make up that two hours that they\u2019re going to miss.<\/p>\n

RUSH: You know, in truth, the fewer hours kids spend in a public school the better off they are. You have to do like me, you have to look at the positive.<\/p>\n

CALLER: You know, I get this. And, frankly, it\u2019s not the two hours of education they\u2019re missing that bothers me in the least. It\u2019s the message that it\u2019s sending to these kids that, you know, God forbid they ever have a job where they have to go to a meeting, a board meeting at ten at night and then have to show up for another meeting at seven the next morning, you know, that\u2019s inconceivable for them to ever fathom —<\/p>\n

RUSH: Now, Amy.<\/p>\n

CALLER: — to have to work a little more than —<\/p>\n

RUSH: Amy.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Yeah?<\/p>\n

RUSH: You know, certain modern Americans would say, ‘You\u2019re so harsh, you\u2019re just so mean. I mean is everything so black and white to you? Don\u2019t you see the nuance and the gray here? And aren\u2019t you aware, aren\u2019t you aware that for the last ten years there have been educators slowly putting stories in the public domain that school starts too early for the kids.\u2019<\/p>\n

CALLER: Oh, I know.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Oh, yeah.<\/p>\n

CALLER: I know.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Oh, yeah, that\u2019s too early for the kids. They need to sleep later. We\u2019re really pushing our kids too hard. We\u2019re pushing our bus drivers too hard.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Hmm. Hmm. You know, I\u2019m not going to spend a bunch of time on this and waste your time. It just blew my mind. I couldn\u2019t believe what I was reading. So anyway, it was great talking to you.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Thank you, Amy. <\/p>\n

CALLER: Have a great day.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Same to you. Nice talking to you, too. I saw that. I didn\u2019t bother printing it out and putting it in the show prep stack. Maybe I should have. It didn\u2019t surprise me. It just didn\u2019t surprise me. This is the direction the public schools are going. What did surprise me was in 2007 the last time the Colts were in there that the drivers didn\u2019t even show up, and the poor little kiddies were standing on the corner freezing their little tushes off.<\/p>\n

RUSH: See? See? What I\u2019m talking about here, check the e-mail. ‘Come on, Rush, it\u2019s the Super Bowl! Having a team in a Super Bowl is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity unless your QB is Peyton Manning. Even still, give the people a little break. Give \u2019em a break.\u2019 You know, it\u2019s funny how School Bus Nagin in New Orleans did not suggest this for the New Orleans bus drivers. I mean he learned a big lesson there back in Katrina. Get the buses out of there. So no time off being late in New Orleans. At least as of now.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Aaron in Chico, California, you\u2019re next on the Rush Limbaugh program. Hi.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Mega dittos there, Rush.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Thank you, sir.<\/p>\n

CALLER: I had a comment about the lady and the story with the school bus drivers showing up a couple hours late from the Super Bowl.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Oh, yeah.<\/p>\n

CALLER: It just kind of reminded me that it\u2019s an example about how liberals and their policies that are blamed for these ideas that they promote about not letting kids have drive and initiative and kind of like not work hard or wake up early to get a full day out, and it kind of correlates to the youth vote not coming out for the last election, except to come see a celebrity, like when they come to see President Obama, but after that it\u2019s just pretty much that\u2019s it.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Yeah, that\u2019s true. But you\u2019re talking about the reason they\u2019re not going to come out and vote?<\/p>\n

CALLER: Well, yeah, because the policies they set up just as far as curriculum and school and life, you know, don\u2019t work hard, government will take care of you, not to have a lot of initiative and drive, just like your parody where they keep score or what have you. It just pretty much sets them up that the only reason they come out is to see a celebrity like Barack Obama or Bill Clinton for them back in the day, but other than that, they really don\u2019t know about the issues, they aren\u2019t really educated about the issues, and, of course, the public school system doesn\u2019t really teach \u2019em about them. They just teach them about their feelings and —<\/p>\n

RUSH: Well, that\u2019s not totally true. The public school system does indoctrinate these kids with liberal thought. They do. They do. They take history courses and turn them into current political events with liberal analysis. And they\u2019ll take a political science court or a history course and turn it into a one-hour bash George Bush. Oh, they do this, and that continues, that starts in junior high, they do that all the way up to high school and that\u2019s how they prepare for future further indoctrination in college. But you\u2019re right about still, they\u2019re young people. Celebrities are what attract \u2019em.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Yeah. But I mean if they were to teach them the facts the kids would say, ‘Well, wait a minute, that doesn\u2019t sound right,\u2019 but like you said I\u2019ve known this for years and that\u2019s how I\u2019ve learned about it, through seeing and just studying. They do this all the time. They don\u2019t teach them any facts. And I\u2019ve learned so much more from listening to your program and wanting to learn more about what true definitions are and what history is —<\/p>\n

RUSH: Thank you. Thank you very much. I appreciate it.<\/p>\n

CALLER: These kids aren\u2019t taught it.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Yeah, I know, they\u2019re not taught the right things. The facts they\u2019re given are BS.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Yes. If they were they would make a whole lot better decisions than what\u2019s being told to them, if they were given actual truth and definition about how rich people pay the taxes —<\/p>\n

RUSH: I don\u2019t think that there\u2019s a whole lot of critical thinking taught. I don\u2019t think they\u2019re taught to make decisions. I think they\u2019re taught to feel and have reactions based on that.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Well, that\u2019s my design I imagine.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Oh, yes.<\/p>\n

CALLER: By no doubt. I mean you see how when you give parents the choice of where to send their kids to school, they send them to the schools that actually teach their kids and not just shoving them in these horrible, horrible school systems in inner cities and whatnot that don\u2019t teach them.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Well, you know, you\u2019re absolutely right. In fact, speaking of all this, I think it would be apropos at this point to share with you the information that was in today\u2019s Morning Update on all of our great radio affiliates around the country. Two liberal organizations have joined forces in a lawsuit, the lawsuit that will determine the future of thousands of kids. The teachers union and the NAALCP have filed suit to stop New York City from — now, get this. Wait for it. Teachers unions, NAALCP filed suit to stop New York City from closing 19 underperforming schools. In other words, the lawsuit is to make sure that mediocre schools are kept open. The teachers union claims that the panel for education policy, which has the authority to close failing schools, violated state law because the panel did not consider the impact on the community. No. They\u2019re not supposed to. It\u2019s the school\u2019s failing and if nobody\u2019s learning anything in there you shut it down. <\/p>\n

The NAALCP argues that shutting down failing schools — get this, this is like that story we read for you the other day from the UK that\u2019s preventing advertisements asking for qualified people because it\u2019s an insult to unqualified people. Listen to this. The NAACP says that shutting down failing schools will hurt minority children. Now, the reverse of that is that keeping failing schools open will help minority children. We\u2019re talking about liberalism here. Now, Mayor Bloomberg and the school\u2019s Chancellor\u2019s Joe Klein who was, by the way, in the Justice Department, the lawyer that led the anti-trust suit against Microsoft, school\u2019s Chancellor Joe Klein, Mayor Bloomberg defended the closing of these 19 worthless schools. Now, in a sane political environment this would not be an issue. In the detested and hated private sector, a franchise store that failed to deliver service would be closed in a heartbeat. But in liberal land, where failure is what\u2019s rewarded, the NAALCP insanely claims minority children are hurt if they cannot stay in these factory failures. And the teachers union claims the community will be hurt if rotten schools are closed. <\/p>\n

Meanwhile, the Obama administration is floating ideas to lower standards in the No Child Left Behind program to allow more leeway for failing schools to continue operations. I\u2019m not making any of this up. Obama wants to lower standards in the No Child Left Behind program to allow more leeway for failing schools to continue to operate. This means, okay, we\u2019ll redefine what a failing school is. This after Obama cut funds for the DC school choice program that allowed minority parents to move kids from failing public schools to great private schools. It was working. The kids were performing well, getting good grades and Obama shut it down. A liberal Democrat and an African-American light-skinned with no Negro dialect when he doesn\u2019t want it shut down a program benefiting other African-Americans with or without Negro dialects. <\/p>\n

Now, these minority kids, and that\u2019s who we\u2019re talking about here, these minority kids are being treated like second-class citizens, like the last thing anybody wants is for them to actually be educated. That\u2019s what it sounds like to me. You know, Rosa Parks, she refused to go to the back of the bus. These kids are not even allowed to get on the bus of success. Not even allowed a seat by the very people who claim to be their saviors. It\u2019s just classic because it works this way throughout all of society. Liberalism, ‘We\u2019re gonna help you, we\u2019re gonna bring you up from the dungeon of poverty and so forth.\u2019 And they don\u2019t do it, they just make it worse.
