RUSH: Got one of these things in the e-mail, author unknown, and if it\u2019s not spammed out there yet, it soon will be. If it is spammed out there and you\u2019ve seen it, forgive me. ‘The danger to America is not Barack Obama but a citizenry capable of entrusting a man like him with the presidency. It will be easier to limit and undo follies of an Obama presidency than to restore the necessary common sense and good judgment to a depraved electorate willing to have such man for their president. The problem is much deeper and far more serious than Obama who is a mere symptom of what ails us. Blaming the prince of the fools should not blind anyone to the vast confederacy of fools that made him their prince. The republic can survive a Barack Obama who is, after all, merely a fool. It is less likely to survive a multitude of fools such as those who made him their president.\u2019 I understand what this author unknown is saying. Frankly, I think what\u2019s going on is an awakening. I think people are finally starting to see it. Now, Obama spoke about me again without mentioning me. I am on his mind. This afternoon in Tampa, University of Tampa, town hall meeting, listen to this.<\/p>\n

OBAMA: I don\u2019t want gridlock on issue after issue after issue when there\u2019s so many urgent problems to solve. And I — and I don\u2019t want an attitude: if Obama loses then we win. I mean that — that can\u2019t be a platform.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Yes, it can.<\/p>\n

OBAMA: You know, even — even if you disagree with me on some specific issues, all of us should be rooting for each other, all of us should be rooting for America moving forward and solving problems so that, you know, you lose, I win mentality, that mind-set may be good for short-term politics but it\u2019s not a mind-set that\u2019s equal to these times.<\/p>\n

RUSH: It is required in these times. He\u2019s got me on the mind, folks. I am in his head. That ‘I hope he fails\u2019 is reverberating in there and it\u2019s still bouncing around and it has not been forgotten. I don\u2019t want an attitude if Obama loses and we win. I don\u2019t want an attitude of. I don\u2019t want and so it shall not be? Is that what the meaning is here, you don\u2019t want so it shall not be? I mean that can\u2019t be a platform and the tepid applause on that, that can\u2019t be a platform? It most certainly is! By necessity. Even if you disagree with me on some specific issues, all of us should be rooting for each other? No, we shouldn\u2019t. Are the Colts fans going to be rooting for the Saints? Are the Saints fans going to be rooting for the Colts? You expect me to root for Barney Frank? Are you rooting for George W. Bush? Did you? What nonsense is this? You lose, I win mentality, that mind-set may be good for short-term. It\u2019s necessary for saving the country. <\/p>\n

All right. To the phones. Rob, Sandusky, Ohio. Glad you waited, sir. You\u2019re next on the Rush Limbaugh program. Hello.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Rush, mega dittos.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Thank you, sir.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Rush, I\u2019m sitting here, and God has loaned me some talent. I know why Obama always has to be on teleprompter. Consider yourself. If you were trying to deceive liberals and make yourself appear as a liberal, you would have to have thought it out, you would have to have a script to stick to because one little slip-up would reveal that you\u2019re a conservative. That\u2019s why he always has to say on script, always has to have the teleprompter because he\u2019s trying to deceive us and it\u2019s not in his heart, it\u2019s not in his soul. That\u2019s why he is always on teleprompter.<\/p>\n

RUSH: You may have a point.<\/p>\n

CALLER: That\u2019s why he speaks to 20 people on teleprompter and schoolchildren.<\/p>\n

RUSH: He didn\u2019t speak to schoolchildren on a prompter. The bloggers got that one wrong. He didn\u2019t use the promoter with the school kids but he did use it for the press at the school. I think you have a good point. There\u2019s only one thing I would correct in what you said.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Okay.<\/p>\n

RUSH: And that is I would not need a teleprompter, even to be a liberal. I know them so well. I could do both. If I wanted to I could tomorrow come on this program and convince the left that I had had an epiphany overnight.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Touche, Rush. <\/p>\n

RUSH: And I could say it happened during the interview process with a Miss America contestant and something happened and my mind opened up and I\u2019d never seen things this way before, and I could make \u2019em believe it. He\u2019s Barry Goldwater II. This guy all of a sudden late in his life, he\u2019s getting his mind right. I could pull it off. I\u2019ll tell you something else, by the way, folks. Let me tell you this. We have nine-and-a-half-minute interviews with all 53 of the pageant contestants, and there are six judges, and we rotate who asks the first question, that\u2019s a free-for-all. And we can ask them anything, and we\u2019re told to challenge them, they\u2019re looking for the best girl, best woman in this lot to be Miss America. Whoever wins this, the Miss America does not have a home next year. She\u2019s on the road 365 days. She does not have a home. She\u2019s in a hotel every night and they\u2019ve gotta find somebody that can handle it and do it and so we\u2019re entrusted to do this. I can tell you something. Not one of them has needed a teleprompter. It took us about 14 hours over two days, maybe longer, maybe 15 hours over two days to go through all 53, not one of them has needed a teleprompter. And yet Obama needs one for even 20 people at the Middle Class Task Force. <\/p>\n

CALLER: Hi. How are you?<\/p>\n

RUSH: Good.<\/p>\n

CALLER: I had a question. I hear all this bashing of Bush all the time in every one of his speeches, and I\u2019m wondering, you know, Reid and Pelosi, they were leading Congress and the Senate. Aren\u2019t they equally responsible?<\/p>\n

RUSH: Well, that\u2019s right. Starting in 2007 and 2008, then 2009 and then 2010, they were running the show. They\u2019re in charge of budgets, they\u2019re in charge of spending items, and don\u2019t forget even before that, Barack Obama voted for every spending bill that came before him. He did not vote against any of the so-called reckless spending that he criticizes Bush for. He voted for all of it. He knows that his buddies in the media are not going to hold him accountable on that.<\/p>\n

CALLER: That\u2019s kind of what I was thinking, it kept coming to me every time I heard this Bush-bashing, why aren\u2019t they getting some of that credit, too, you know?<\/p>\n

RUSH: Well, you\u2019re exactly right. That\u2019s a brilliant, brilliant observation on your part. (interruption) No, Brian, it\u2019s not 57 Miss America Pageant contestants, it\u2019s 53. Are you people thinking I\u2019m getting that wrong? You think it should be 50? No, because you\u2019ve got Puerto Rico, you\u2019ve got the Virgin Islands, and you have the District of Columbia. So you have 53 contestants. Obama would think it\u2019s 57 because he thinks he traveled to all 57 states. No, there\u2019s nobody in Samoa that comes. Samoa is gearing up for the NFL. I don\u2019t know if you saw that 60 Minutes expose, but they\u2019re trying to make a scandal out of Samoans targeting their young kids to get into the NFL. Now, Obama, ‘I don\u2019t want, I don\u2019t want an attitude, I don\u2019t want.\u2019 When the president of the United States says that, that\u2019s trying to chill dissent. Dissent, you know, Hillary Clinton said it used to be patriotic. ‘I don\u2019t want an attitude.\u2019 Make no mistake.
