RUSH: Rick in Reno, you\u2019re next on the EIB Network. Hello.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Rush, I\u2019ve been trying to get hold on of you since the 12th. I sent you an e-mail. I had a birthday on the 11th of November, turned 64.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Happy birthday, sir.<\/p>\n

<\/a>CALLER: I finally got my wife listening to you, and on that date, that also was our 31st anniversary. And she said, ‘Guess what? Rush has convinced me that the Sleep Number Bed<\/a> we need. We are going to get another one.\u2019 So I have an IOU from her that prior to Christmas. She\u2019s going to end up ordering a brand-new, pillow top Sleep Number Bed. So not only do I need to thank you for all the things that you end up doing for all of us every day, Rush, I thank God that we have a day like tomorrow when we can all kind of get together and say thank you for all of the things that we have in this country. And I think that a lot of those things are brought daily from you to show us what we really have here.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Well, thank you very much, sir. You\u2019re going to love the bed. What did you do — or what did I do, rather — to bring your wife around?<\/p>\n

CALLER: Well, I\u2019ll tell you, she retired two years ago, and she never listens to the radio very much. When she worked at the location she worked at it was always on a music station because that was what everyone else listened to. I listened to you because in my job I have an office, and so consequently I listen to you every day and have ever since you\u2019ve been on the radio. So I finally convinced her at home, I said, ‘You need to end up listening to Rush on a daily basis.\u2019 We talk about you, we both have the same ideas that you have, and she finally started. During her retirement she would end up leaving the radio on so when she\u2019s outside or whatever she\u2019s doing she\u2019d come back in and you\u2019d be on. She found herself listening to you more and more, and was very thankful that I had ended up telling her that. Then one day she heard you speaking, I don\u2019t know whether it was an advertisement or what it was, about the Sleep Number. A number of years ago I got the, I believe it\u2019s the 1000 series. So anyhow, she had had some problems with it. I was never able to get it adjusted correctly to her, and she kept saying, ‘Well, maybe it\u2019s the fact it\u2019s not a pillow top,\u2019 so anyhow when she heard you talking about it and how great it was she decided that\u2019s what she wanted to get —<\/p>\n

RUSH: See, the husbands never know anything.<\/p>\n

CALLER: What, sir?<\/p>\n

RUSH: The husbands never know anything.<\/p>\n

CALLER: (laughing) I do know that my side<\/emphasize> is working quite well.<\/p>\n

RUSH: (laughing) Let me ask you. Do you take Zicam?<\/p>\n

CALLER: No, sir.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Oh! <\/p>\n

CALLER: Don\u2019t need to.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Oh, you don\u2019t get colds?<\/p>\n

CALLER: No, sir.<\/p>\n

RUSH: You don\u2019t even have it around in case you get a cold?<\/p>\n

CALLER: Well, you know, I do think that I have some in my cupboard but it\u2019s probably been there for about five or six years.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Hold onto it. It\u2019s golden. <\/p>\n

CALLER: I know the new stuff doesn\u2019t have the same, does it?<\/p>\n

RUSH: Oh, no. It works just as well. But you have the gel swabs, right?<\/p>\n

CALLER: Yes.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Yes. They go right in the rhinovirus area there right in the nostrils.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Yes, sir.<\/p>\n

RUSH: If you\u2019re Henry Waxman it\u2019s easier to use than if you\u2019re not.<\/p>\n

CALLER: (laughing) Well all I can say, Rush, is thank you very much. My wife asked me back in 1978 what I wanted for my birthday and I said, ‘I\u2019d like to end up having you as my wife,\u2019 and we\u2019d been going together for about a year-and-a-half at that time, and she said, ‘Why do you want to get married on your birthday, so you don\u2019t forget your anniversary?\u2019 I said, ‘No, I really just don\u2019t want to continue to remember my birthday.\u2019 I didn\u2019t feel there was any need to celebrate my birthday, so after 31 happy years — oh, by the way, that\u2019s the last time I asked her for anything for my birthday. Just so you know.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Wow.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Yeah.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Well, you shouldn\u2019t have to ask for anything.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Well, I figured that that was enough. But we\u2019ve got 31 years in, and two beautiful grandkids — grandboys — and, as a matter of fact, whenever they come over, they want to sleep on that bed also. They run the thing down to about 25 and they enjoy it while it\u2019s so soft.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Well, thanks for the call. Look, you\u2019ve made my day here. Everybody that Snerdley\u2019s put on here that\u2019s thanking me, I appreciate it more than you will ever know — and do not throw that Zicam<\/a> out. Keep it with you because what\u2019s going to happen. You just angered the cold gods. You just said you never get a cold. The cold gods don\u2019t like that. It\u2019s sort of like when you\u2019re out playing golf and you hit a great shot, and you say, ‘I got this game figured out!\u2019 The golf gods nail you on your next swing. So the cold gods are going to get this guy. He\u2019s gotta have it around. You should have it around, too. At the first sign you think you\u2019re getting a cold, take it. There\u2019s a couple different forms and lots of different flavors. It works.
