If you’ll go to RushLimbaugh.com — (interruption) it wasn’t enough, Dawn? It wasn’t enough? We did the whole third hour on it, Snerdley, what more could we point out? My new favorite word is “sue.” Sue, sue, sue! People are demanding, sue ’em, sue ’em, sue ’em. I know we had to listen to Sharpton all night. I’ve got the sound bites from Sharpton all night. I didn’t have the television on last night. Well, we did on the airplane, we had closed-captioning on watching some stuff on the flight out to Missouri. Look, folks, can’t sue on the website. You’re misconstruing. “You gotta go after Sharpton and Jackson.” Maybe people mean sue, but we went after them yesterday, and all of it is at RushLimbaugh.com. It’s highlighted there. You cannot miss it.

It was fascinating to watch my e-mail from the moment this first leaked on ESPN that Dave Checketts was kicking me out of the group. I started getting requests from media people, “We’d like to have you, could you come on, tell us what you think,” multiple questions. I’m sitting there, I’m saying to myself, “Why should I say another syllable to these people? They make it up anyway. They do not report accurately what I do say. Why should I give these people any of my time talking to them?” I spent a lot of time e-mailing back and forth with Michael Wilbon of the Washington Post. I gave him the truth from the get-go, other than some of the things I said today, which I couldn’t say, but basically about these made-up quotes, and he writes a column today in the Washington Post that is as though I never spoke to him, that my side of this made no impact on him. It seems that the reaction of the sports media, which is really dominated by racial bigots of all races, seems to be, “Well, even if you didn’t say it we know you think it.”

It’s sort of like Dan Rather. Remember when Dan Rather made up those phony documents about Bush and the National Guard, and when they were proven to be phony, Dan Rather said, (paraphrasing) “No, they’re still accurate, they may be phony but it still happened. I believe the story, even though the documents may be fraudulent.” I don’t even think he even admitted that. So they get a template, they get a narrative in their mind, and one of the narratives is that conservatives, not just me, folks, it’s not just about me, conservatives are racist, sexist, bigot, homophobe, that’s the starting point. So when they think that’s what you are it doesn’t matter what you say. I have a sound bite here from Warren Moon, who basically says, “Well, even if he didn’t say that I don’t even want to ponder what’s really in his head.” Warren Moon, a black quarterback in the National Football League, played for the Houston Oilers. I’ve met him a couple times. So that’s how this all plays out and how it happened. So talk to the media? For what purpose? I much rather enjoy talking to you. If they want to talk, if they want to find out what I think all they have to do is go get a radio. It’s not that hard.

BREAK TRANSCRIPT

RUSH: To the phones. Mark in Philadelphia. You’re up first. Great to have you with us. Hello.

CALLER: Hi, Rush. I’d ask you how you’re doing today but that’s kind of the reason I’m calling. I’m calling to thank you for the way that you handled this opening monologue and beginning of this show. When I got the news last night or heard over the radio that you were out of the group that was buying the Rams, I was just very, very discouraged. It just seemed to me like it was a “conservatives need not apply” kind of situation that didn’t bode well for anyone, and especially for you. And when you came in this afternoon with your show, you just lifted my spirits back up by showing that you still have grace and class, and even though adversity is all around, you don’t have to be taken down by it.

RUSH: Well, like I say, I haven’t lost anything here.

CALLER: Yeah.

RUSH: I haven’t lost anything. My staff, my trusted and loyal and highly overrated, by the way, staff, they’re angry, they think I have lost something, reputation and this sort of thing. But, look, Mark, I told them I’m going to take the high road here.

CALLER: Yeah.

RUSH: The air is cleaner, there’s a lot less traffic up there on the high road, and Snerdley’s shouting at me, “Screw the high road, sue ’em, sue ’em, sue ’em!” I feel like I’m listening to Johnny Cash singing Boy Named Sue.

CALLER: Yeah. Well, you have taken the high road, Rush, but I mean I guess if I want to disagree a little bit, what you have lost is an opportunity and the reason you lost it is because you’re conservative and that really hurts, it hurts all of us.

RUSH: That’s exactly right. That was my point yesterday.

CALLER: Yeah.

RUSH: It’s about much more than me. This is just the latest assault on people who believe in rugged individualism and liberty and freedom who threaten the whole notion of state-controlled tyranny and Central Command authority, which is what is typified by the Obama administration and now the Democrat Party. Look, I have to take a break. Mark, thanks much for the call, appreciate it.

RUSH: I walked out of the studio at the top of the hour. I went into the control room where the trusted and loyal staff is just outraged. I no more than got one foot in the door, and Dawn starts shouting at me, “We are not satisfied, that first caller was wrong, we don’t feel better. Sue ’em!” And then Snerdley stood up, started spitting out the same thing in anger. Brian said, “To hell with it, I’m leaving,” and went and got a bottle of water. (laughing) I’ve become the new owner of the National Action Network. (interruption) Own the Monochrome Coalition? No, no, no. Look, folks, I understand. If you think you’re enraged by this, trust me I’m right in there with you leading the pack. But there is a strategery here that has to play out, that has to take place. I don’t want you to sit around and think that we’re not looking into this. We have been for a while. It’s gotta be done right, evidence has to be gathered. It’s one battle in a long war.

BREAK TRANSCRIPT

RUSH: Peter in Old Bridge, New Jersey. I’m glad you waited, sir. Welcome to the EIB Network.

CALLER: Rush, how are you?

RUSH: Fine, sir. Thank you.

CALLER: It’s great… I used to listen to you when I was a kid back in the eighties when Bob Grant was on the radio. I get to listen to you on my days off. I’m a nurse and I work. I can’t get to hear you. So I just wanted to say, for a lot of us, I thank you for championing this whole thing with this race card. A lot of us hear the talk at work. We’re afraid to talk. We look over our shoulders. Even by saying the name “Obama” we look over our shoulders that we’re going to be called racists or things if we disagree with his policies. This whole NFL thing, it’s another can of worms that may bite him in the butt, because I know people give up their tickets with this tariff or this fee they had to pay just to have the opportunity to buy their season tickets. Now hearing this it’s going to turn their fans away from the NFL, from sports. And I just can’t tell you how much I appreciate you championing this cause, you know, and the more this is exposed, maybe this is… There are a lot of ways this could get settled, how this whole race thing in our country will get settled. People are tired of that. They don’t want that, and I can’t tell you how much I appreciate it.

RUSH: Well, thank you. You know, it’s a challenging time for the NFL because they’re having trouble in a lot of markets, lifting blackouts, getting sellouts. Ticket prices they’re trying to hold steady but they’re going out. The economy is plunging. It’s dark days. They’ve got this potential labor strife that is coming up in the National Football League. I don’t know what impact all this is going to have on people like you who listen to this show and what their reaction is going to be, whether they cancel their Sunday Ticket subscription on DirectTV or they’re not going to games. I don’t know. I really can’t imagine that happening in large numbers but I might be surprised.

CALLER: Well, I think the bigger thing is this whole Al Sharpton and Jackson go after people. They’re not credible, and they’ve been caught lying and doing the wrong things.

RUSH: That’s the question I’ve been raising for a long time. These two people are irrelevant if they are not promoted with credibility by the media. That’s the only thing that gives them power. They have no power because of their own character. They have no power because of their own credibility. They only have power because they are anointed. Whenever a question of race comes up, you make a beeline to Sharpton and Jackson. Whenever a feminist issue comes up, you go out and find out who’s running the NAGs. Look, it’s all one giant den of thieves on the left. Whether they’re in the media, whether they’re in activist groups or in the Democrat Party, they are all radical leftists and they all work together to advance their agenda, which is anti-freedom and liberty.

BREAK TRANSCRIPT

RUSH: Folks, I’m in the midst of a dilemma here in the way that I have always chosen to conduct myself professionally. A lot of you are urging me to give out the National Football League’s address and then urge people to write letters to the commissioner. Now, as you know, over the course of the 21 years of this program I have never — one time, I think — twice, twice I have advocated it. One the immigration debate and one as an experiment to show Steve Roberts of US News to prove what would happen because I was being accused of drumming up a bunch of phony opposition to issues being debated in Congress. I said, “I don’t do it, Steve. I don’t give out the congressional phone number.”

If it happens I want it to happen of its own nature, its own initiative. I want people to do it on their own. ‘Cause if I do do it, if I give out a phone number and I say, “You call ’em,” or, “You write ’em,” it’s going to be discounted as a drummed up phony support that wouldn’t have happened if Limbaugh hadn’t played pied piper to his mind-numbed robots. So I’ve always had a philosophy here: I don’t tell you what to do. That’s not the relationship we have. I don’t look at you as mind-numbed robots that can’t make up your own mind. So… (sigh) People say, “You gotta give out the NFL’s address so people can write them!” I have a feeling that’s happening. You think it’s happening out there, Snerdley? (interruption) The more they see the clip of Goodell? Yep. Me be “divisive” and all that that? Yeah. Yeah.

You know, the interesting thing about the National Football League is that it has gotten away with being portrayed and seen as apolitical, when in fact it’s run by the left. The sportswriter community is radical leftists. They are pure, 100% liberals. Vast majority of them. The Players Association head is an Obamaite: DeMaurice (or D’Maurice) Smith. I’m not sure how he pronounces his name. You have Sharpton and Jackson involved here. Dictating! I don’t know if the NFL realizes it yet but they’ve really gone down a slippery slope now. They have now allowed Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson and DeMaurice Smith to have a say if not total say in who can and cannot own a team, based on what that person might think or might say.

DeMaurice Smith says, “We want to look at the NFL as something that brings everybody together! There’s no divisiveness in the NFL. We want to bring everybody together,” and in fact, it’s a very exclusionary club and there are a lot of liberal policies that run the National Football League. And it’s just been shown that if you are conservative, you are not wanted. If you’re publicly conservative and effective, you’re not wanted, even as a “minority,” quote, unquote, owner. So the idea that sports has somehow escaped our politics is silly. Sports, particularly football, is reported on from a totally liberal slant. Have you ever noticed how the players are always treated like Hollywood celebrities? Even their shortcomings are written about with sympathy and hope for rehabilitation and redemption. </line>
</line>
It is what it is. Now what’s really going on here is the collective bargaining agreement coming up and the Players Association is using all this controversy here as sort of an intimidating piece of leverage against the owners, “Okay, now you see what we can do. You see what we can do. You see the political pressure we can bring to this league,” and the Players Association guy is an Obamaite. He’s telling the owners, “Look, if I have to I’ll get Congress involved,” and you might say, “Well, what’s Congress got to do with it? Why should…?” What is Sheila Jackson Lee, for example, going to the floor of the House of Representatives to berate and criticize — incorrectly with false information — a private citizen: me? The idea that the NFL is not politicized is silly. </line>

Now, I’m going to get a little cliched with you here, folks. A lot of people say this and they say it trying to make themselves feel better. I actually believe it. I believe things happen for a reason and I believe that there is good in everything. And given what I have learned in the past 24 hours, not only do I maintain I didn’t lose anything, I think I have been spared a whole bunch of future grief down the road. I woulda had a bunch of money tied up that I will now not have tied up. Who knows what would have happened to the investment. I would have had to put up with some hostile owners and so forth. There’s good in everything that happens, and I do believe that there’s a reason things happen, and I’m not being cliched, and I’m not trying to make myself feel better about this in an artificial way.

The people that have been most impacted by this are those closest to me. I can’t tell you. The staff of this radio show is livid. They are still shouting in my ear over this. Members of my family, and you. (sigh) You know, I’ve been through this for 21 years. I have built up a mechanism for dealing with it. Plus I have something that they don’t have. I’ve got this microphone, and I have three hours every day, and I can go out and respond to it when and how I see fit. My staff doesn’t have the microphone — and you’re not getting it, by the way. (laughing) Just kidding! Dawn… She is so tense in there, it’s going to take two hands to force your mouth to smile. It’s tough for people close to me.

For me to see them be so angry and upset and hurt and so forth, and I can’t say to them, “Don’t worry about it. I’ve been through it.” That doesn’t satisfy anybody. I understand that. But let me give you an analogy. I hope the media is listening to this one. This is going to be the Media Tweak of the Day, and Snerdley pointed this out to me: We have been through this in these 21 years, things like this — the Michael J. Fox misrepresentations, the phony soldier thing, the ESPN situation and so forth — and each time these things happen we equate it here to a storm surge. And the waves are just piling up and they’re washing over us. And, “Oh, my gosh!” people say, “How they ever going to survive this? Oh, no, not again!” But eventually the waves recede and the rock remains, and it has been that for 21 years, and it shall continue to be.

Danbury, Connecticut. Laurie, thank you for waiting. You’re next on the Rush Limbaugh program. Hi.

CALLER: Hi, Rush, how are you?

RUSH: Fine. Thank you very much.

CALLER: I just wanted to tell you, I’m a nurse, and I own a medical supply company in Danbury, and it’s been very, very tough for me and I’m worried about the health care business. But the reason that I’m calling you is because I’m just mortified what they’ve done to you with the NFL, and I just want to put this idea past you. Every time the Democrats and the libs get in trouble with someone or someone is becoming too strong, what do they do? They call them racist. Why don’t you take that as a badge of honor and use it against them? Every time they call you a racist, use it against the libs. You know they’re scared of you. You know they know you’re powerful. And I think you could use it for good.

RUSH: How so?

CALLER: Just in the way you present yourself with people, the fact that they’re calling you a racist, now you know they’re afraid of you. You knew that before, but now you really know it.

RUSH: Well, yeah. All of this is because of my effectiveness.

CALLER: That’s exactly right.

RUSH: If there were somebody speaking up louder and more prominently than me — if there was an elected Republican saying the things I say — they’d be destroying that person, too. Sarah Palin when she pops up, you know, they try to chop her head off.

CALLER: Right.

RUSH: Michele Bachmann, Michele Bachmann, another of our elected officials, showing real guts and real courage, and they’re going after her. This is what the left does. The left cannot debate us, idea for idea. They would lose. They have to demonize us. This is Alinskyite. They demonize and they clear the playing field. They wipe the playing field plain clear of their enemies. That’s what they try to do. And that’s why, you know, it is silly for Republicans to willingly go away. “Okay, I’m sorry. I’ll apologize. I’ll go away.” It’s like Tuesday night I was asked by Mr. Checketts to please, in order to save his group’s bid, back out of this; and I said, “I am not backing out of this. You said you had it taken care of. You said you that if you hadn’t cleared this you wouldn’t have approached me. If you want me out then you publicly fire me, because I am not going to accede to these deadly charges of racism. I am not going to quit and make it look like I’m doing so because they’re telling the truth about me. If you don’t want me in the group because you think it’s going to harm your effort to get the team, then you get rid of me publicly,” and that’s what he did.</line>
</line>
CALLER: Well, I think you ought to get even with that gas bag, Sharpton and Jesse Jackson and turn this stuff around and use it against them. It should be easy. They’re easy targets.</line>

RUSH: Well, again, yesterday, on this program… I know you’re talking about doing more than just (sigh) pointing out the truth about them on the program. Be patient, my friends. But again, go to RushLimbaugh.com. Yesterday, all the truth — and many of the truths that you do not know — about Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton, news stories, it’s all there, going as far back to 1987, I believe, with the New York Times. Anyway, Laurie, I appreciate it.

BREAK TRANSCRIPT

RUSH: To Kenosha, Wisconsin. Kevin, thank you for waiting. It’s your turn, sir.

CALLER: Hi, Rush. It’s a great honor to be able to speak with you and everything right now. I’ve listened to you my whole entire life, I’m 25 years old, and I have never once heard you be a racist. I think it is completely fabricated that they have to race bait you because you want to buy a team. It just drives me nuts.

RUSH: Well —

CALLER: That they did this to you.

RUSH: It’s a tactic. It’s designed to put people on defensive, on the defense trying to prove a negative. And in this case they had to go so far as to report totally fabricated and made up quotes. I think journalism is forever gone as we’ve known it. It’s been corrupted by people who have no character, who have no integrity, and who have very little, if any, concern for the truth. It’s all about advancing an agenda. In this case it’s all about protecting Obama, for whatever social or political reasons they find themselves attached here. I don’t want to get into a psychological analysis of these people because I could go insane trying to figure out what it is that animates ’em. But it’s so predictable. I mean this is the stock and trade of Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton.

CALLER: Yeah. Didn’t the great Reverend Jesse Jackson back in the day when he was trying to run for president, say something very derogatory and then that kind of kicked him out of the race?

RUSH: I don’t remember that. I do know that he’s —

CALLER: He was up in New York and he said something that people did not like and he got kicked out of the presidential bid back in the eighties when he was attempting to run.

RUSH: I don’t remember. Well, I know he called New York “Hymietown.”

CALLER: Yeah, that’s it, that’s it.

RUSH: And Jews “hymies.” He’s said much worse stuff. We’ve documented all these things he said and more and it’s right there at RushLimbaugh.com. It’s from yesterday’s program. But the thing you have to understand, though, Kevin, and this is the point I made a moment ago about the NFL and trying to portray itself as an apolitical organization, something that has nothing to do with politics, it’s not partisan in any way, we want everybody in America to be a fan, we just don’t want any conservatives to be owners but we want everybody to be a fan because we’re not a political organization. After this there is no way the NFL can say it is not political. It is steeped in politics now, partisan politics, and one of the primary reasons is the sportswriters of America. The sports journalists of this country, whatever you think of the mainstream news journalists, the sportswriter community is more liberal, irrationally liberal, hearts on their sleeves social conscious liberal than you will ever believe.

CALLER: Oh, yeah. I know that, I’m starting to see it and it drives me nuts. And I know it has to be driving you even more nuts considering, I mean, you have over 20 million listeners and you talk about conservatism 24/7.

RUSH: Yep, I know, and do so in an effective way. I just checked at the computer screen during the call: “Sue CNN. Sue MSNBC.” I know, I know. Folks, I hear you. John in Springfield Pennsylvania you’re on the EIB Network. Hello.

CALLER: Mr. Limbaugh, it is such a pleasure and a privilege to speak to you. Longtime listener, first-time caller.

RUSH: Thank you.

CALLER: I just want to tell you, Rush, I know that you don’t support boycotts. I’m a big NFL fan, I have recently, as of today, canceled my NFL package on my cable provider. I will throw all of my jerseys out. I am finished with the NFL altogether. I know you don’t support that, sir, but the way I see it, we have to stick together. And I just want to tell you, I have your back. And not only is it me, all my friends feel the same way, and we get together every week and we watch whatever game is on. We are finished. Period. And I just want to thank you for all that you do for this country. You are a brave man, and I give you the utmost respect for what you do. You tell the truth, and you take all the arrows. Thank you, sir. I appreciate that.

RUSH: Thank you. I’m just overwhelmed by all of this support and sentiment that is coming out now. I can’t thank you all enough. I’ll never, ever really be able to properly repay you for all that you have meant to me and my family, and this episode is illustrating all that in spades, it’s illustrating all of that in droves. By the way, you know, I referred to some local markets being blacked out television-wise. They’re going to hit me on that, I just know.

BREAK TRANSCRIPT

RUSH: Barney in Huntington Beach, California, welcome to the EIB Network. Hello.

CALLER: Hello and it is an honor to speak to you, sir.

RUSH: Thank you very much.

CALLER: And you never have been in any way anti-black or anti-Semitic or anything else, unlike the Reverend Jackson —

RUSH: It’s quite the opposite. I’m pro-American!

CALLER: I know.

RUSH: I’m pro-prosperity!

CALLER: You stand up for the traditional, honorable, free United States of America. Now, the Reverend Sharpton, however — and you probably already have this information, but I have to say it — he led a spirited attack on the orthodox Jewish community in Crown Heights, New York. I was living in New York at the time for about 30 or 40 years. It started off, well there was an accident with a car and all of this can easily be brought out. I don’t remember the year —

RUSH: Well, it had be from 1998 to 1997 because I lived there when that happened. I remember the Crown Heights thing.

CALLER: Two.

RUSH: There were two of them, and Sharpton rounded up a posse, went after a Jewish guy —

CALLER: Exactly right.

RUSH: — who was driving a car —

CALLER: One member, one youthful ignorant lad stopped the vehicle, pulled the guy out. And it was a visiting Bible scholar from Australia.

RUSH: His name was Yankel —

CALLER: Exactly right.

RUSH: Yankel Rosenbaum. He was the Reginald Denny of his time.

CALLER: Yes. And I also remember Tawana Brawley, spent some time on that one, but he’s a creep. As far as Reverend Jackson is concerned, there was a book written, and I never got to read it, but it was shown to me where he listed all of the blackmailing he did, or most of it to collect funds —

RUSH: We’ve got the story at RushLimbaugh.com. It’s in the New York Post, the shakedowns of all these corporations, the hiring of Al Sharpton as a consultant because he threatens boycotts, or worse.

CALLER: Absolutely right.

RUSH: Like I said, these guys could not survive 30 minutes of the scrutiny that they hand out to me or anybody else that they’re trying to take down. They couldn’t handle it and they’ll never get it because they’re chosen and anointed. Let me tell you the Democrat Party works, folks. I’ve done this before, and I told this story in explaining why they went after Clarence Thomas, who, by the way, I’m very honored, I now have something in common with Justice Thomas. I, too, have had my high-tech lynching. Remember the whole Anita thing? All of that was made up. It was totally trumped, none of it was true. Pubic hair on a Coke can, all these witnesses that they brought, Judge Susan Hoerchner, who looked to me like she had never had a bowel movement, puffed up so much and her lips were puckered so much. Ah, regardless. The reason they had to destroy Clarence Thomas, the Democrat Party is made up, as you now know, of a bunch of disparate coalitions and some of them are at war with each other but they do have two things in common, regardless of their differences.

One is they hate Republicans and conservatives. And two, they love government and being close to government and government power and government money. The Democrat Party has to keep this coalition alive for votes. Now, the role of the leaders of the black coalition of the Democrat Party, their only responsibility is to generate 90% of the vote for the Democrat presidential candidate every year. That’s the job that Sharpton and Jackson have, and as long as they come through, as long as they keep that large voting bloc voting Democrat, then the Democrat Party gives them a seat at the big Democrat Party table of power. It’s the same thing with Ralph Neas and People for the American Way and all these misnamed — like People for the American Way is People for the Un-American Way in its operation. ACLU, all these. So you have the civil rights coalition as one subset of the coalitions of the Democrat Party, and they all have their jobs to do. Sharpton and Jackson turn out the vote, walking around, cash money, whatever it takes.

Now, the only thing that keeps this coalition glued together is the media. The media, for my entire life, has never scrutinized any of these groups or the people who run them. Quite the opposite. They lionize them, they puff piece profile them. In the real world, Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson are discredited race-baiters, racists themselves, and they’re corrupt. But they will never be portrayed that way in the media. They will never be portrayed that way even when their corruption is exposed. It is excused or it’s explained by saying, “Well, look, racist history of this country, what do you expect? You have to understand that people like Sharpton and Jackson are very mad.” We have to understand their rage. After all, they’re trying to help poor people get their civil rights.

But trust me, the media is just another part of the coalition of the Democrat Party. That’s how you have to look at them. Which is why I’ve always gotten frustrated with people who say, “Rush, we’re never really going to make any progress until the media starts reporting the truth about us.” That’s like saying we’re never going to make any progress until Obama becomes a conservative. It ain’t going to happen. And they are not, as you’ve seen in this episode, it’s gotten to the point now if they can’t do the hit piece with real quotes, they’ll make ’em up or they’ll report made-up quotes. The stories of Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton and their corruption is legion. And they do get out there but there’s no echo chamber on it and nobody ever holds them accountable for it.

BREAK TRANSCRIPT

RUSH: Matt in Omaha, welcome to the EIB Network. Hello.

CALLER: Mr. Limbaugh, thank you for taking my call.

RUSH: Thank you, sir.

CALLER: I was disappointed, but not surprised to hear that, quote, unquote, powers that be are able to control the free market to the point that they are able to prevent you from investing your money in the way that you want to invest it. But you were speaking earlier about the possible silver lining about that investment falling through and I have an investment opportunity for you. And I got a couple of selling points. One will be that you will be able to save your fellow taxpayers money because this investment opportunity is too big to fail. It will probably be cheaper than what you were going to spend trying to buy the Rams. You will be able to restore journalism to its rightful place, you’ll probably drive the libs over the brink, and I suggest that you try to buy the New York Times.

RUSH: Well, that would require a hostile takeover. It’s publicly held and of course the Pinch Sulzberger family has a whole bunch of class B shares. Nobody really can control what happens to the New York Times other than the family. I mean, a lot of people have looked into doing such a thing. Hank Greenberg, the guy that ran AIG at one point looked into it. That would be a tough one. I don’t know that I want to go into the newspaper business. Have you seen what’s happening to that business?

CALLER: No, I know the newspaper business is on the way out but if it had a reputable owner such as yourself maybe the newspaper business could actually get back to what they’re supposed to do and be a reputable journalism organization.

RUSH: Well, I know. So many people have a desire that something be done about this. It’s deteriorating, it’s becoming more and more corrupt, and it’s pervasive. It’s everywhere. There’s no integrity or professionalism in it at all. There are people, a lot of conservatives who own publications, newspapers and so forth, Washington Examiner, Washington Times, to name a couple that come to mind, and there are others that are a little smaller out there, but people are making the effort, they really are.

BREAK TRANSCRIPT

RUSH: Chagrin Falls, Ohio. This is Therese and welcome to the EIB Network.

CALLER: (static) Hi, Rush. I’m 45. I’ve listened to you for 24 years. That’s a pretty long time.

RUSH: That is.

CALLER: (giggles) I just wanted to say that there’s a positive way we could support you and it’s a capitalist thing. It’s a support-the-economy thing, and what should be could do is we could support your advertisers. This is a message to your listeners to go out and buy Zicam. Go out and get Carbonite. Go get LifeLock. Go buy a Select Comfort bed if you can afford it. I’ve listened to you for so long, I bought the products that you advertise. I bought LifeLock a year and a half ago. I bought a Select Comfort bed ten years ago. And when I move from point A to point B in central Ohio, there was something wrong with my Select Comfort bed and I called them up and they said, “Don’t worry, hon. It’s taken care of. We’ll replace the whole thing,” and I said, “I don’t need the whole thing. I just need the guts inside of it,” and that’s what they did. And all I need to do is get Carbonite and I’m covered. And I should have started using Zicam four days ago because I got a cold.

RUSH: Yeah, you shoulda listened to me. Sometimes people just don’t listen to me. I try to tell ’em.

CALLER: Yeah, I got it but I didn’t take it every two or three hours, and now I sound like a… Oh, I don’t know what I sound like. Whatever. I definitely don’t sound like somebody that needed to be on the radio.

RUSH: You don’t sound bad.

CALLER: (coughs) But I just want to say that not only do you have your family and you have your friends, and you got Punkin and you got your dog, you have 20 million friends in this United States. And I know you are set for life, but if they came and wiped you out you have a home to go to. You have 20 million homes that will support you. And so help me God, if they ever come out after you any farther than what they have, watch out! We will make the tea parties look like nothing.

RUSH: Wow! Wow!

CALLER: I’m serious as a heart attack. They don’t want to mess with people like me.

RUSH: They already have.

CALLER: Yeah, I know they have. And, you know what? I’m not giving up. I’m not. I’m not going to let them.

RUSH: Well, I want to tell you, I’m not, either. I’m not either. I’m inspired by all of you in the audience, things such as you’ve said to me. But it’s in my nature as well, the competitive aspect of this. Plus I’m so blessed I’m doing what I was born to do. What I do here is I don’t consider it a job or work at all. But that’s such a great call. Therese, by the way, I can’t agree with you more about things that the audience can do. While they’re canceling all their NFL stuff, take the money and put it into something like Carbonite. Or a Select Comfort bed. Anyway, Therese, thanks very much, I appreciate it.

BREAK TRANSCRIPT

RUSH: Here’s Mitchell in Houston. Mitchell, you’re next on the EIB Network. Hi.

CALLER: How you doing, Rush? The modern day prophet. How are you doing, sir?

RUSH: Fine, sir. Thanks very much.

CALLER: I’m about tired of these libs playing the race card. The one that upset me the most was Sheila Jackson Lee in Congress on the floor using our taxpayer money to bring up private citizens. She should not be saying that in Congress about you. You should be able to spend your money the way you want to spend it. I thought this was America. I thought that we were supposed to be free to be able to do what we want to do with our own money. But obviously somewhere along the line that has changed. I’m fed up to here with it, Rush. And I’m just so glad that we have you and other people out there that are speaking the truth every day, because we are getting lied to constantly. Constantly. Every day.

RUSH: Well, you are so right about that. You’re being lied to from the White House on down.

CALLER: I’m so sorry what they did to you, Rush, and I know you’re going to stand up and I know you’re going to fight. And my sentiments exactly with the last lady that talked to you said: We are here for you, Rush, 110%.

RUSH: I thank you. I’ve learned that over the 21 years, and that’s why these things don’t bother me because they didn’t make the show. The media didn’t make it; they can’t break it. They can try all they want. But in all my years of radio and when I was younger and wanted to get into it, I never dreamed of what this kind of a bond with an audience would be like. I never understood it and I don’t think I could have understood it until it actually happened, but I do. I love all of you. As I said yesterday and I say it frequently: Thank you. Thanks el mucho.

*Note: Links to content outside RushLimbaugh.com usually become inactive over time.

RUSH: I’m checking a lot of e-mails from people today in both the public e-mail address that I give out here on the radio and the subscriber e-mail address at RushLimbaugh.com, and there’s an overwhelming sentiment: “Sue them, sue them to bankruptcy, and go after Sharpton and Jackson.” We did that yesterday, folks.
