RUSH: ‘A noted geologist who coauthored the New York Times bestseller Sugar Busters has turned his attention to convincing Congress that carbon dioxide emissions are good for the Earth and don\u2019t cause global warming.\u2019 I first came across this on a blog, it\u2019s at the US Snooze &amp; World Report, the Washington Whispers column by Paul Bedard.<\/p>\n

‘Leighton Steward is on Capitol Hill this week armed with studies and his book ‘Fire, Ice and Paradise\u2019 in a bid to show –‘ and, by the way, our official climatologist, Dr. Roy Spencer, is there as well trying to persuade members of the Senate that there is no manmade global warming and the culprit is not carbon dioxide. And he\u2019s trying to get these senators ‘working on the energy bill that the carbon dioxide cap-and-trade scheme could actually hurt the environment by reducing CO2 levels.\u2019 Leighton Steward says, ‘I\u2019m trying to kill the whole thing. We are tilting at windmills.\u2019 And when I saw this — and we\u2019ve got a sound bite here, by the way, this afternoon on the Fox Business Network live, Stuart Varney spoke with Leighton Steward about cap and trade and Stuart Varney said to him, ‘You\u2019re saying that we need more CO2 emissions, that it would in fact be good for the environment?\u2019<\/p>\n

STEWARD: There is real good news out there that the Earth needs more CO2 if we want to green the Earth. Now, if cap-and-trade comes in and we really get successful in trying to reduce CO2, we will actually take food out of the mouths of people, and we will move in a direction of browning the Earth. I know that sounds unbelievable, but it\u2019s true.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Why does it sound unbelievable? Only because there is a culture that has developed resulting from the hoax that CO2, which we exhale, is a poison and that it will destroy the climate. When in fact he\u2019s right, green things need it. They need it. Green things cannot live without CO2. I got to thinking about this and I think that these senators all know this. Now, there are probably some idiots in the Senate who probably have bought the hoax. I mean not all those guy\u2019s elevators go all the way to the top floor. Many of them are an order of fries short of a Happy Meal. But still they\u2019re there and they got elected. But most of them know full well this is a hoax, just like Obama knows his stimulus plan is not about creating jobs. Obama is a about creating economic stagnation and prolonging it. Obama is shepherding our economic decline. It\u2019s time to bring the United States in line with other nations around the world and so cap and trade, the global warming hoax, it\u2019s just part of the mix. It\u2019s all part of the methodology to get us into a pared-down economy, to raise taxes, to punish achievement, to penalize economic activity with higher taxes. <\/p>\n

He said we\u2019re just tilting at windmills out there, Leighton Steward did. This is a noted geologist. I mean profoundly high reputation among his peers. He does bring a lot of truth to power when he goes and tells these guys. But all this legislation — health care, for example, is not about health care, it\u2019s not about improving your health care, it\u2019s not about insuring more people. It\u2019s not about anything that they say it\u2019s about. It\u2019s about straitjacketing the US private sector, it\u2019s about straitjacketing our economy, it\u2019s about raping one-sixth the economy and putting it under the control of Barack Obama, peace be upon him. That\u2019s what all this is about. These are just mechanisms to make that happen. So Leighton Steward can go up there and he can tell \u2019em right and he can probably even convince them, those that don\u2019t agree with him that he\u2019s right and it won\u2019t matter because it\u2019s not about climate change. It\u2019s not about saving. It\u2019s about destroying, mark my words. <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
