RUSH: All right, folks, here\u2019s the way I see it. And as you know, I see things very clear. Oh, and, by the way, \u2019cause everybody\u2019s concerned, I\u2019m sure that you can hear that my voice sounds normal and energetic and not tired because I got four full hours\u2019 sleep last night. So we\u2019re back to normal here. Here\u2019s how I see this. I see things very straight. I see things very clear. Obama\u2019s health care plan will be, one, written by a committee whose head says he doesn\u2019t understand it — that would be John Conyers — his health care plan will be, two, passed by Congress that has not read it; number three, signed by a president who smokes; four, funded by a Treasury chief who didn\u2019t pay his taxes; five, overseen by a Surgeon General who is obese; and, six, financed by a country that\u2019s nearly broke. What could possibly go wrong with this? <\/p>\n

BREAK TRANSCRIPT<\/p>\n

RUSH: The Cash for Clunkers. Here goes another botched program. This is from The Politico: ‘Transportation Secretary Ray LaHood promised car dealers will be paid the money the federal government owes them through Cash-for-Clunkers, and he said the department will announce in coming days how much money is left and when the program will likely come to an end.\u2019 (laughing) They don\u2019t know how much money is left? ”I know dealers are frustrated, but they\u2019re going to get their money,\u2019 LaHood said at an event in Washington highlighting drunk driving. LaHood did not rule in or out the possibility of another round of money for the popular program. ‘We\u2019ve got our hands full right now handling the money we have,\u2019 he said,\u2019 and get this: ‘LaHood acknowledged that because of the unexpected popularity of the program the Transportation Department ‘did not have enough people in place to really process the paperwork\u2019 from dealers…\u2019 <\/p>\n

If they didn\u2019t understand the popularity of the Cash-for-Clunkers program, if that led to difficulties, imagine when health care is said to be free what kind of — what kind of problem they\u2019re going to have with the unexpected popularity of the free health care plan. (laughing) These people are the Keystone Cops. From the Los Angeles Times today: ‘The government will announce a plan as soon as today for winding down the popular but problem-plagued ‘Cash-for-Clunkers\u2019 program. The announcement by Transportation Secretary Ray LaHood came as a New York dealership group said that hundreds of its members had stopped doing clunker transactions because…\u2019 What appropriate name for a government program anyway: The ‘clunker\u2019 program. <\/p>\n

‘[H]undreds of its members had stopped doing clunker transactions because of delays in getting reimbursed by the federal government. LaHood said, ‘I know they\u2019re frustrated but they\u2019re going to get paid.” Let\u2019s play a game. Let\u2019s imagine that the Cash-for-Clunkers program is government-run health care and let\u2019s go through this story and let\u2019s replace the word ‘dealers\u2019 with ‘cancer victims\u2019 and the word ‘paid\u2019 with ‘treated.\u2019 Shall we try this? ‘The government will announce a plan as soon as today for winding down its popular but problem plagued Cash-for-Clunkers program. ‘New York cancer victims groups said that hundreds of its members had stopped doing transactions because of delays in getting treated by the federal government,\u2019 and a government official says: ‘I know these cancer victims are frustrated but they are going to get treated.\u2019 That is the way to properly analyze the program. As a result of the auto dealers being truthful about Obama\u2019s incompetence, here and saying not be reimbursed, and now that their lack of trust has been made known… This is what\u2019s happening. When these dealers opt out of it, they\u2019re saying, ‘We don\u2019t trust the government. We don\u2019t trust Obama\u2019s government to handle all this.\u2019 Look for more dealer closings and an inquisition by Congress. Now, by the way, let\u2019s not forget this: A few months ago Barack Obama made this promise to the American people about their warranties with car companies that he owns and operates. (laughing) Car companies he owns! (laughing) It\u2019s true. That\u2019s why I\u2019m laughing. It\u2019s ridiculous, but it\u2019s true. Here\u2019s what he said: ‘If you buy a car from Chrysler, General Motors, you will be able to get your car serviced and repaired just like always. Your warranty will be safe. In fact, it will be safer than it\u2019s ever been because, starting today, the US government will stand behind your warranty.\u2019 Right, the government isn\u2019t even standing behind your purchase. The dealers are opting out because they can\u2019t get paid. And who\u2019s going to reimburse the dealers for warranty work? Obama. And Ray LaHood. And these people are still out saying they\u2019re the only people that can handle delicate health care plans. <\/p>\n

A quick phone call. Watertown, Connecticut. Mike, I\u2019m glad you called. You\u2019re up first today. Nice to have you on the program.<\/p>\n

CALLER: It\u2019s great to speak to you. It\u2019s an honor. And if I can say something. The first four points, I believe it was four points, you made when you first came on the air today were excellent. Second thing I want to say: right side, left side, upside down, sideways, it doesn\u2019t matter what side you\u2019re from. What matters is what you say, the truthfulness behind it, and the consistency. And, Rush, you\u2019re consistent, you\u2019re truthful, and you\u2019re getting out there and telling people what\u2019s going on. Another thing: The government and Obama and his administration would like nothing more than to see the American people implode on each other at town hall meetings and calling us mobs and riots and sending in union worker thugs to do their bidding. They want nothing more than to dislike each other, to hate each other, to argue with each other. Anything to fearmonger and cloud the truth. That\u2019s what they want.<\/p>\n

RUSH: You know, you\u2019re very right. They love the chaos, and they love pitting groups of Americans against each other.<\/p>\n

CALLER: That\u2019s it.<\/p>\n

RUSH: You\u2019re a very shrewd young man. It says up here that you\u2019re 22 years old. You are very shrewd.<\/p>\n

CALLER: I just… You know, I have a lot of friends, and there are — I want to say that the government underestimates the amount of information out there for people. You have to look, you have to find it, you have to find the truth — and thank God I found this radio station. Because there are things that you speak about that you would never hear about in mainstream news, that you would never hear at the table, and as far as death panels go, there\u2019s no better way to call (static) Obama with all these things, what do you call it when a third party is called in with doctors and —<\/p>\n

RUSH: Of course.<\/p>\n

CALLER: — ethics professors and they\u2019re going to be the ones making the decisions. The third party corporate association is nothing more than a panel of people deciding who gets to live and who\u2019s going to die, who will be cared for and who\u2019s going to be screwed. That\u2019s all there is to it.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Well, for 22 years of age you\u2019re very shrewd out there and this kind of stuff is heartening. People of your age either are not yet interested or they have been brainwashed into thinking something opposite. So that\u2019s great. I\u2019m glad you called.
