RUSH: Thank you.<\/p>\n

CALLER: I am from Canada. I\u2019ve been in the States here for a year and I\u2019ve just noticed a huge difference between the health care system at home and the health care system here in my new home. The waiting times are what I noticed first. Usually in the doctor\u2019s office you have to wait one or two or three — depending if you have a doctor — maybe seven, depends. Here I was surprised that I actually got in in a couple minutes. There are also… I guess what I don\u2019t understand is how people think that the government can take care of the medical care system. Because I\u2019ve see on the other side. It\u2019s so obvious to me to see. The difference is just extreme.<\/p>\n

RUSH: I think I can help people understand this. We ask ourselves this question in America all the time. With all of the government programs that are failures and with all the hassles that people have to go through to deal with a government agency — like cash for clunkers. Cash for clunkers they\u2019ve only reimbursed the dealers 2%. I mean, they can\u2019t even run something as relatively small as that, and we all know the problem dealing with the Department of Motor Vehicles and everything. But the reason people look at health care… By the way, I don\u2019t think people now, you look at the numbers, the protests, I don\u2019t think that people do want the government in charge. They don\u2019t want the government running it. That\u2019s the great thing about this. It\u2019s what it all means. But the reason that they considered it in the first place is because they bought the notion that health care is a ‘right\u2019 and that somehow it\u2019s going to be ‘free.\u2019 <\/p>\n

Obama\u2019s out there saying, ‘Yeah, we\u2019re going to insure all these people and we\u2019re going to get you better coverage and better treatment. We\u2019re just going to tax a couple millionaires and it\u2019s all going to be hunky-dory.\u2019 Now they\u2019re running around saying we spend 6,000, $8,000 (whatever number they pull out of their minds) on per-person health care and that purposely blurs the line between the private and public sectors. The rhetorical trick will go a long way to aiding these Marxists in their desire to obliterate the private sector. I mean, individuals in private companies may spend 8,000 or $6,000 or whatever on average per American per year. But the Obama socialists are offering the tempting lie that individuals will pay nothing! That\u2019s the lure that they use, that it\u2019s going to be ‘free,\u2019 that their beloved government\u2019s gonna cover it all. Well, they will reduce spending to only $4,000 a person? So who suffers? Sick Americans. It\u2019s a rhetorical trick. But the whole notion that you\u2019re gonna get improved health care ‘for free\u2019 was the original lure that people did mistakenly believe.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
