RUSH: Joe in Cadiz, Spain, welcome to Open Line Friday. Nice to have you here, sir. Hello.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Rush, mega dittos from Spain.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Thank you.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Thank you for having me on.<\/p>\n

RUSH: You bet, sir. Well, my question is this. First I wanted to say thank you, Mr. Snerdley, you\u2019ve got a professional staff, you really do, Rush. But my question is this. I\u2019m a civilian working for the government now after retiring after 25 years, or 20 years in the military, and being overseas, I\u2019m very limited as to the exposure that I get. I do download your show and other shows to my iPod and listen to them daily. Obviously, it\u2019s a day later. However, it\u2019s nice to get some breadth and obviously some other opinions. Is it as divisive in the United States as what I\u2019m hearing? By that I mean with the health care debate. Obviously the liberals are trying to spin this to the nth degree trying to make it look like we\u2019re all a bunch of, I don\u2019t know, radicals trying to suppress the government from imposing their will upon us, but is it —<\/p>\n

RUSH: What does your instinct tell you, Joe?<\/p>\n

CALLER: A hundred percent it\u2019s media hype, but —<\/p>\n

RUSH: No. No.<\/p>\n

CALLER: It really is people across the nation, all 50 states are standing up.<\/p>\n

RUSH: They are, every opportunity they get, Democrats are canceling town halls. There\u2019s even polling data, Joe, that, you know, in politics the independents are precious because they\u2019re the swing voters. Independents in the most recent poll say that they sympathize with the protesters showing up at town hall meetings. The tactics that are being used by people who oppose all of this health care stuff is working. Public opinion supporting health care is like 42%. There is no majority anywhere in this country nationwide for Obama\u2019s health care plan. Divisive, I don\u2019t know if you want to use that word, people are standing up and saying, ‘No, we don\u2019t want to lose our freedom and liberty and we don\u2019t want you controlling our medical care; we don\u2019t want you controlling one-sixth of the US economy.\u2019<\/p>\n

CALLER: And I completely agree —<\/p>\n

RUSH: It\u2019s not a bunch of rabble-rousing —<\/p>\n

CALLER: It\u2019s the professional —<\/p>\n

RUSH: It\u2019s not an unruly mob. What you\u2019re hearing these people being described by the media is totally untrue. These are just average, ordinary Americans, I mean the essence of grassroots. These are individuals showing up confronting these members of Congress.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Good. I\u2019m glad to hear it because my wife and I, we\u2019ve spoken many times and we\u2019ve spoken that if we were back in Florida where we came from there\u2019s no doubt that we would be a part of this a hundred percent, and I just didn\u2019t know how spread it had actually become and how many people were involved in this —<\/p>\n

RUSH: Let me tell you —<\/p>\n

CALLER: That\u2019s who our democracy is for.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Exactly. This is not anything to be upset about, Joe. This is a great moment in America. For the first time since this man was immaculated, we are enthused. The American people are showing that this is not what they voted for. We didn\u2019t know with this man\u2019s election — a lot of us are saying, ‘Oh, my gosh, do the people of this country really want a massive socialist takeover of the country?\u2019 And they don\u2019t. And it\u2019s being illustrated all over the place and these people are being called Nazis, they\u2019re being called an unruly mob. Union thugs supporting Obama beat up a black conservative at a St. Louis town hall, Joe, and they still show up in droves. The typical Democrat tactics of intimidation are being employed, and it isn\u2019t working. And they\u2019re sending Obama, he\u2019s out in Montana today to do a town hall, which, by the way, starts five minutes before this program ends. Obama\u2019s town hall starts at 2:55 Eastern time. And the reason for that, of course, is so that I will have no chance to comment on it until Monday. Appreciate the call, Joe. Thanks.
