The big beer conference, six o\u2019clock tonight outside at the picnic table in the playground. I wonder if this poor old cop is even going to be able to be taken into the White House, or are they going to maybe bring him in through the back door, run him through the kitchen or something on the way out to the picnic table. We need a mojito conference here for Mideast peace and a Jell-O shots conference on global warming. I mean, once we start drinking to solve problems there\u2019s no end to this. I had somebody say to me yesterday, ‘Rush, you\u2019re making too big a deal about the beer meeting. This is just a photo-op.\u2019 No, no, no, you people who think that this is just a photo-op don\u2019t understand. Obama is a historic transformative figure, all he\u2019s gotta do is touch the hem on his jacket and he can magically solve problems. <\/p>\n

I know it\u2019s over. They\u2019re in big trouble. New York Times poll, 69% people worry about Obamacare. There\u2019s deadly disastrous polling data for Obama today. New York Times: ‘New Poll Finds Growing Unease on Health Plan.\u2019 Oh, really? So I read the story, what\u2019s the growing unease? You have to go to the 17th paragraph of the story to find this. New York Times poll, 69% worry about Obamacare. ‘They\u2019re concerned that the quality of their own care would decline if the government created a program that covers everybody.\u2019 That\u2019s a detail very artfully delivered in the 17th paragraph of the New York Times today. <\/line> <\/line>I\u2019ll tell you, you know, this beer meeting today, he\u2019s starting to look like he\u2019s not cool, and I\u2019ve always said that\u2019s he\u2019s a cold calculating guy with a chip on his shoulder anyway, but you know what he reminds me of? He\u2019s starting to remind me of Nixon walking the beaches at San Clemente in his suit and wing tips. Remember how uncool that was? You know, in all candor about this health care thing, and we will be talking about it again today, nobody wants this. I think it is profoundly useful to keep pointing out the American people do not want this crap so why is Obama and why are the Democrats doing it? Sixty-nine percent, New York Times, the liberal bible, uncomfortable, uneasy. They\u2019re worried. Nobody wants this and yet they\u2019re still doing it. Why are they doing it? I mean the answer is obvious, but it underscores the divide between the people and these libs. <\/line><\/p>\n

On the one hand that\u2019s a heartening realization, but on the other hand there\u2019s no way to stop these clowns other than this recess. You know, folks, and you\u2019ve heard everybody talking about this. But it\u2019s up to you. The August recess, when these local yokels come back to their communities that they supposedly represent, it is time to make them scared to death to return to Washington in the fall and vote for this thing. And that is going to be up to you. And I know that you\u2019re up to it because already when these town hall meetings have occurred like Claire McCaskill\u2019s and Kathleen Sebelius was down there in Reserve, Louisiana. This is a powder keg waiting for the explosion, and the August recess can make it happen. <\/p>\n

I got another thought about this beer meeting this afternoon. We now know what kind of beer. Obama\u2019s going to have a Bud Light, the cop is going to have a Blue Moon, and the professor, the snob, is going to have a Red Stripe. Now, I got to thinking about this, though. Drinking beer before dinner is the wrong message to send to obese Americans. I mean they\u2019re trying to tell us we need to fix our diets, right? They have targeted and demonized the obese. And they\u2019re doing it in a vicious way and now what is the message — drink a beer before dinner? If we\u2019re going to micromanage Americans\u2019 weight we should at least start sending out body fat correct messages, and that does not include drinking beer before dinner. You know, I have studied beer commercials, and there is only one beer that I can recall — I could very well be wrong about this — but I remember back when I worked for the Kansas City Royals back in the late seventies, early eighties, there was an Anheuser-Busch product and I forget the name of it, but they advertised that beer by showing a barbecue grill with sausage and burgers and vegetables and so forth being grilled. <\/p>\n

It was the first time that I had ever seen a beer commercial with food in it, other than at a bar with a bowl of peanuts or some such thing and I haven\u2019t seen it since. When you go to a cocktail party or you\u2019re having people over for dinner, it\u2019s very few, only ex-jocks and current jocks will sit there and guzzle beer before having a fine meal. Most people do not. Right, Brian, you drink beer. You don\u2019t drink beer before eating. It\u2019s a horrible message to send to the obese, and to make a huge deal about this — overweight Americans are under assault as a drag on health care and as a drag on the budget, and what\u2019s the president doing? He\u2019s showing people how to pack on calories the easy way, have a beer with a cop and an elitist professor at a picnic table in the kids\u2019 playground before dinner. And, by the way, I haven\u2019t heard anything about the cop or Gates being invited to stay for dinner. Have you? Well, I know the cop\u2019s bringing the family, I understand that, but don\u2019t you think if you\u2019re going to do this, I mean I can only put myself in Obama\u2019s shoes. I wouldn\u2019t be doing this in the first place because I wouldn\u2019t have opened my mouth at the wrong time and said a stupid racial thing like he did, but if I was going to do this, it\u2019s the White House, dude. You bring \u2019em into the Oval Office and then you take \u2019em into the cabinet meeting for the big confab.<\/p>\n

This is a cop from Cambridge. The elitist professor I\u2019m sure has already been in the White House — (interruption) yeah, and he paid for it. (laughing) But I mean what are they going to do, take the cop and the family through the back door, run \u2019em through the kitchen to get out the picnic tables in the playground where — by the way, did Michelle grow the hops and the barley in the White House garden for the beer? And, if so, who brought the yeast? (laughing) If unemployment\u2019s not a problem right now — and the news on that is bad — oh, my friends. We did some research on this. You\u2019ve seen the stories, jobless claims up again, more than expected. We researched that phrase, ‘more than expected,\u2019 ‘surprised economists\u2019 and so forth, 898,000 times we Googled the phrase and we found new jobless claims rise more than expected, that phrase turns up 898,000 times just for new jobless claims rise more than expected, not just today but we had a search period: 898,000 times. It\u2019s in the template. Rise more than expected. I\u2019m getting a little ahead of myself here because my brain neurons are firing on all cylinders. <\/p>\n

State-run French News Agency, AFP: ‘President Barack Obama said Wednesday there will be no vote on his proposed reforms of the US healthcare system before autumn, a setback that is costing him more political capital with each passing day. ‘This bill, even in the best-case scenario, will not be signed — we won\u2019t even vote on it probably until the end of September or the middle of October. We\u2019re just trying to get all these different bills out of committee,\u2019 Obama said.\u2019 So between now and then, we have time, and this is going to be a fun recess. It really is. Because I know you people are ready for this. I know you\u2019re revved. <\/p>\n

RUSH: Now, ‘Gallup delivers a sober analysis its latest health care poll findings: … The findings show that Americans are not buying President Obama\u2019s claims that legislation would improve quality, expand access and reduce costs among the general population, and the numbers get worse when people are asked how they think the proposed changes would effect them personally. Specifically, the poll found a minority 44 percent thought legislation would improve the nation\u2019s medical care, while just 26 percent said it would improve their own; 47 percent said it would expand access overall, compared to 21 percent who said it would expand their own access… Put it all together, and it means that Obama\u2019s arguments have failed to convince a skeptical public as it is, and his approval ratings continue to get worse with each passing day.\u2019 <\/p>\n

He\u2019s out there 24\/7. He\u2019s talking and selling this and people aren\u2019t buying it. In fact, the more he talks the more disapproval of the plan there is, and because people know that he\u2019s not being level with them. He\u2019s not telling them the truth about this. That the bottom line is the people do not want this! So why are Congress and the White House, why is Obama doing it? The people do not want it. Now, the answer speaks for itself. But the thing to take away from this is, that all these socially conscious leftists, with all this compassion and want only the best for you, they don\u2019t care what you want. You\u2019re just another obstacle in their way and you have to be swept out of the way. <\/p>\n

NBC\/Wall Street Journal, more devastating polling data. ‘Despite his public-relations blitz over the past two weeks to promote his plans to reform the nation\u2019s health-care system — including holding two town halls on Wednesday — President Barack Obama has lost ground on this issue with the American public… Pluralities now say that the president\u2019s health care plan is a bad idea, and that it will result in the quality of their care getting worse. What\u2019s more, just four in 10 approve of his handling on the issue.\u2019 These numbers are pretty close to Gallup\u2019s. The NBC\/Wall Street Journal poll ‘also finds that Obama\u2019s overall job approval rating has dropped to 53%,\u2019 and this is this is Peter Hart who said, ‘This is a president who needs a vacation.\u2019 No, we need the vacation.
