And John Kerry, The Lurch, good grief. Now, it\u2019s a 10% excise tax on cosmetic surgery deemed unnecessary for medical purposes. Well, now, wait a minute, unnecessary to whom? I\u2019m sure Nancy Pelosi thinks it\u2019s all been necessary, and I\u2019m sure Plugs Biden thinks it\u2019s all been necessary. &#8216;The idea was broached in a meeting with OMB Director Orszag in mid-July, after which Senate Finance Chairman Max Baucus told reporters he had heard some &#8216;interesting,\u2019 &#8216;creative,\u2019 and &#8216;kind of fun\u2019 ideas.\u2019<\/p>\n<p>So the 10% excise tax on face-lifts, tummy tucks, hair transplants, and of course the resulting surgery you need later in life to make sure you can close your eyes when you sleep, 10% tax. Now, only a Democrat would term any taxes being added or raised as fun. Now, there\u2019s a plastic surgeon in this story, a guy named Roth. &#8216;Malcolm Roth, vice president for health policy and advocacy at the American Society of Plastic Surgeons, said the New Jersey tax has only brought in about 25 percent of anticipated revenue since it was enacted in 2004 and imposes &#8216;another bureaucratic layer.&#8221; Now, this Roth guy is a plastic surgeon at a medical center in Brooklyn, and he said it &#8221;would be a discriminatory tax against women,\u2019 noting that 86 percent of patients are female and 91 percent are of working age between 19 and 64. He also disputed the notion it would be a &#8216;tax on the wealthy,\u2019 noting most patients earn less than $100,000 a year. &#8216;People put money aside for years, sometimes weekly under-the-mattress deductions\u2019 to get the surgery they want, he said.\u2019 Ten percent excise tax, cosmetic and Botox.
