RUSH: Here\u2019s Ralph in San Antonio, Texas. Hello, Ralph, you\u2019re on the EIB Network. Big, big moment for you.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Rush, thank you for taking my call.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Yes, sir.<\/p>\n

CALLER: I\u2019m 60-plus years old, and my income bracket would put me among the working poor, but I have health insurance because I choose to pay for it. The idea that people making 50 or $75,000 a year can\u2019t afford health insurance is an out-and-out lie.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Of course they can. You\u2019re exactly right out there, Ralph. What\u2019s happened is over the last 30 years people have been conditioned to think somebody else should pay for it. It\u2019s a right. If you can\u2019t afford a lawyer, we\u2019ll pay for one. Health care is more important than a lawyer. So people think the government ought to pay for it or your employer ought to pay for it. Sure. Don\u2019t buy as many plasmas. Don\u2019t buy a new car. But health care has assumed this position because of the Democrat Party, Franklin Delano Roosevelt and some of the Democrats, LBJ. Health care shouldn\u2019t be paid for by people. That\u2019s just not fair.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Well, the reason they don\u2019t have health care is because they choose not to pay for it, but Obama wants me to pay for their choice. To me, a 50 or $75,000 income would be a life of luxury. When are people gonna come out from under the ether that this man has got them under?<\/p>\n

RUSH: It\u2019s starting to happen. I mean, it\u2019s got a long way to go out there, Ralph, but it\u2019s starting to happen.<\/p>\n

CALLER: The only way that you can accurately describe this administration is by the words of the song: ‘Gypsies, Tramps, and Thieves.\u2019<\/p>\n

RUSH: Yeah, that was Cher.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Exactly right.<\/p>\n

RUSH: That was back in the early seventies. I played that song when I was a struggling young disc jockey. (singing) ‘Gypsies, Tramps and Thieves.\u2019 No offense, gypsies, but it\u2019s in the title of the song. (interruption) Don\u2019t ask me. Tramps? I\u2019m not going to name names. We all know who they are. I\u2019m not going to name them. Look, Ralph brings up a very good point. He doesn\u2019t make much money but he chooses to have insurance \u2019cause he buys a policy he can afford. Ceci Connolly, Washington Post, says automobile insurance, that\u2019s mandatory, why, what\u2019s the difference in health care? Now, there are people that don\u2019t own cars and there are people that don\u2019t drive. Should they have to buy auto insurance to lower the cost for all the rest of us? Should people who don\u2019t have kids have to pay exorbitant property taxes to support the schools? This is such a… The whole thing is fraud, folks. This whole health care thing is a total fraud, and of course Obama may have to wait for it.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Hey, a quick question, folks. What does health insurance insure? This is not a trick question. If you think health insurance insures your health, you\u2019re wrong. Health insurance does not insure your health.<\/p>\n

RUSH: What\u2019s it for? Does health insurance insure your health? It can\u2019t possibly. Health insurance cannot possibly insure your health. In fact, ‘Health care insurance, formerly called ‘medical insurance,\u2019 is merely an instrument of neutralizing risk. Financial risk, that is.\u2019 Not health risks. ‘It was brought about by a need to insure a family\u2019s assets against a dread disease requiring care so expensive it would wipe that family out financially. As a strictly financial planning endeavor, the issue never seemed to be discussed in terms of being ‘a right\u2019 or in terms of ‘compassion.\u2019 But ‘medical insurance\u2019 as a component of financial planning has morphed into ‘health care\u2019 as a right for everyone in the new political parlance. <\/p>\n

‘And not only is the insurance a right, but the insurance should be ‘free\u2019 and it should cover everything from routine care visits to erectile dysfunction to ADHD to\u2019 addadictomies! Yeah, addadictomies are covered in San Francisco. ‘It is no more practical to have ‘health insurance\u2019 to pay for prescription drugs and routine doctor visits than it is to expect your auto insurance to pay for your oil changes and tire rotations.\u2019 This is C. Edmund Wright at the AmericanThinker.com. There is so much brilliance out there on health care. I\u2019m glad this actually has come up here because we\u2019re getting a perspective and a viewpoint on this that we have not had throughout this whole debate, and Obama is reeling.
