CALLER: Hi, Rush. It\u2019s a privilege to talk to you.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Thank you very much, sir.<\/p>\n

CALLER: I\u2019m a senior in college and my freshman year I had to write a paper on somebody past or present that we would like to spend a day with that has influenced our life and not only our life, our society and culture. And some students chose people like Benjamin Franklin and Abraham Lincoln, and I chose you, and I got the highest grade in the class, and the professor told the class that you may be the most influential person of our time. And ever since then, I\u2019ve tried to figure out how I could spend a day with you. And you always tell us that we live in America and we can do anything we want if we work hard and try hard. So ever since I wrote the paper I\u2019ve been saving my money, and I now have enough money saved up to purchase a skybox to watch the Arizona Cardinals and I\u2019d like to invite you to watch the football game with me in the skybox.<\/p>\n

RUSH: You have earned enough money, now, wait a minute. You\u2019re a senior in high school or college?<\/p>\n

CALLER: In college, since my freshman year I\u2019ve been saving up money because I figured, you know, Rush always tells us we can do anything if we try hard and work hard.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Yeah, and you in four years have saved enough money to get a skybox at University of Phoenix field for one game, right? Not a season.<\/p>\n

CALLER: No, for one game.<\/p>\n

RUSH: One game. Those things are not cheap. You have been saving lots of money. You\u2019ve been working hard.<\/p>\n

CALLER: I have been working hard.<\/p>\n

RUSH: And you want to invite me to one of those games?<\/p>\n

CALLER: I do. It would be an honor to be able to watch a football game with you.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Well, you know, the problem with that is that when you invite me to a football game you can\u2019t talk to me. I\u2019m watching football. We\u2019re not discussing Sotomayor or Obama, we\u2019re talking football. So I have a better idea.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Okay.<\/p>\n

RUSH: I have a better idea. Do you still have your essay that you got the highest grade? <\/p>\n

CALLER: I do, yes.<\/p>\n

RUSH: By the way, what university did you attend? Or are you?<\/p>\n

CALLER: Arizona State University.<\/p>\n

RUSH: A professor at Arizona State gave you a high grade on a paper about me?<\/p>\n

CALLER: Well, I\u2019m a finance major. It was in the business program, and I think that that\u2019s why. They\u2019re a little bit more conservative in the business program.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Well, not necessarily, but that\u2019s still interesting. Why do you think you got a higher grade than anybody else, other than the quality of your work? Why do you think?<\/p>\n

CALLER: Well, because I wrote about how you have influenced our society and culture so much, and you do it in a way that people can relate to and you teach people common sense in how to look at each issue, and, you know, everything that you do on a daily basis for the people of America, I mean, is unbelievable.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Hmm. Hmm. That\u2019s fascinating. I\u2019m flattered and I thank you very much. Here\u2019s what I want to do. I want you to give Mr. Snerdley at the end of this call, so don\u2019t hang up, either an e-mail address or a phone number where we can reach you.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Okay.<\/p>\n

RUSH: All right? ‘Cause you\u2019ve been saving all this money for this basically because I told you you could. And you\u2019ve chosen a football game because you know I love football and so forth. But there may be a better way for you to spend some but not all, give me a ballpark, what does this skybox cost for a game?<\/p>\n

CALLER: It\u2019s over $10,000.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Over $10,000, did you say?<\/p>\n

CALLER: Yeah.<\/p>\n

RUSH: I have a better idea where you wouldn\u2019t spend all of that money. Snerdley, $10,000 a game, eight games, $80,000, that\u2019s pretty right on the money, unsold ones that they lease on a game basis. Anyway, I gotta run here, Doug, but you don\u2019t hang up.
