CALLER: Good morning, Rush. How you doing this morning?<\/p>\n

RUSH: Good, sir, thank you.<\/p>\n

CALLER: May your next round be your best.<\/p>\n

RUSH: You know what? It can\u2019t help but be. Well, that\u2019s not true. It can\u2019t help but be better.<\/p>\n

CALLER: That\u2019s a good way to put it. I\u2019ve been thinking about a question to ask you for years and there really isn\u2019t one. So I have to thank you. You keep saying that we always will remember the first time we ever listened to you. What I remember is the first time my brain started moving so much faster than my mouth could keep up with is when you said, ‘Listen, folks, if you want to keep up with the economy, look at cardboard. We use cardboard to make boxes. We use boxes to ship products.\u2019 From that day, Rush, there is nothing you have said that I haven\u2019t been able to comprehend, and I want to thank you for that.<\/p>\n

RUSH: So you not only pegged the day you first heard this program. You can peg to the day you first understood the program?<\/p>\n

CALLER: Absolutely. Absolutely. And there\u2019s nothing you say that gets by me. It might take one second longer than normal, but it hits home.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Way to go, sir. I\u2019m glad that you feel that way and you\u2019re willing to admit how smart you are.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Oh, you know what? That\u2019s not a problem, Rush — and another thing I need to thank you for is being able to create opportunities rather than wait for them. One of my opportunities that I am creating is to play a round of golf with you, and it\u2019s slow but sure, but I found a way to create these opportunities that you speak of. <\/p>\n

RUSH: Well, I\u2019m sure you remember the show where I said, ‘This is the one country where, if you don\u2019t want to participate in a recession, don\u2019t.\u2019<\/p>\n

CALLER: And I haven\u2019t.<\/p>\n

RUSH: You can create your own job.<\/p>\n

CALLER: I haven\u2019t participated in this recession, and I haven\u2019t been affected by it one iota yet. Yet. I\u2019m waiting for it and I\u2019m ready for it, but so far I haven\u2019t been affected.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Really? You haven\u2019t been affected in any way by it?<\/p>\n

CALLER: You know what, Rush? <\/p>\n

RUSH: That\u2019s a pretty broad statement. I mean, you gotta know people who are affected by it.<\/p>\n

CALLER: I certainly do, though, Rush, and I\u2019m not proud of the fact that I\u2019m not affected. But I\u2019m not in the realm of having the assets and things in place that are normally affected by the people that do. I\u2019m still creating that — and luckily enough, maybe I haven\u2019t gotten there yet in order for it to be created to be affected.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Okay. Well, then I understand what you\u2019re talking about. But we\u2019ve all been affected by one way or the other, and I\u2019m going to tell you something else: We all stand to be dramatically affected by what\u2019s coming if it happens: cap and trade and health care, even if you can pay for your own. For example, 85% of medical discoveries and advances happen in this country in the private sector. That\u2019s going to get wiped out. That\u2019s gonna affect us all.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Thank you, Rush, for taking my call.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Yes, sir.<\/p>\n

CALLER: I just wanted to say that I\u2019m 21 years old and I\u2019m currently in school, and you have inspired me to — instead of let the recession beat me down — create my own job. So I did just that, and I work all across the United States through the internet, and it\u2019s working.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Congratulations, sir. So you\u2019re another that\u2019s not all that greatly affected by the recession.<\/p>\n

CALLER: That\u2019s correct. As a matter of fact I\u2019m going to Washington DC next week just for fun. So thank you for being an inspiration to me and to many others.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Oh, now, see? If I were a liberal what I would say to you is, ‘Go ahead and take your trip, but don\u2019t brag about it. That\u2019s going to hurt people\u2019s feelings. Do you realize how many people are hurting, and here you are calling here bragging about going to Washington to have fun? You ought to be ashamed.\u2019<\/p>\n

CALLER: (laughing) Well, at least I\u2019m not on TV every day.<\/p>\n

RUSH: (laughing) Thank goodness.<\/p>\n

CALLER: So thank you, sir, for all that you do, and the heart that you\u2019ve given to other people.<\/p>\n
