RUSH: Here\u2019s Kathy in Potomac, Maryland. Thank you so much for waiting. Great to have you here.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Professor Limbaugh, it\u2019s an honor to be in your classroom. My hand has been up for a long time, so I thank you for calling on me.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Thank you. Thank you very much. I understand. I appreciate your patience.<\/p>\n

CALLER: I have two experiences I want to share with you, and I\u2019ll be brief. First is, I\u2019d like to tell you about the experience I had when I called my representative last Friday to urge that he vote against the carbon tax bill.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Who was it?<\/p>\n

CALLER: Representative Chris Van Hollen.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Oh, yeah. He\u2019s the Democrat campaign committee in the House. <\/p>\n

CALLER: Yes. In the leadership.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Yeah, exactly right.<\/line><\/a>CALLER: And I asked to speak with his staff member responsible for the issue and had a rather testy exchange. The bottom line is that this gentleman insisted that the cost per family would be minimal, according to the Congressional Budget Office report. Well, I disagreed with his analysis and he asked where I got my information, and I told him the Heritage Foundation, and he laughed at me. I then said, ‘I would appreciate you not laughing, because Heritage is actually a premiere research organization.\u2019 So this man then asked that I go to the CBO report and read it for myself and he gave me the online link. So I did that, I read it — and then I also reread the Heritage report, which explained in detail why the CBO report was flawed. So I was undeterred, Rush, and I called the staffer back and I explained why the CBO report was flawed and gave him the Heritage link — and then I gave him three Wall Street Journal articles that were particularly relevant — and I asked him, ‘Do you read the Wall Street Journal?\u2019 And he said, ‘Uh, well, not on a regular basis.\u2019<\/line><\/p>\n

RUSH: Probably had to fight back laughter on that one, too.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Right, right. So we\u2019re dealing with economic illiterates, which is why it\u2019s so frustrating.<\/p>\n

RUSH: No, you\u2019re not. No, you\u2019re not. I mean that may be true. You\u2019re dealing with authoritarian statists, quasi-Marxists. <\/p>\n

CALLER: Yes.<\/p>\n

RUSH: You\u2019re dealing with… In reality that CBO number, that\u2019s just a technique to help them lie and sell this. They don\u2019t care what the CBO says. They know the CBO number is wrong. They know how destructive this is. This is about advancing a concept of growth of government. More and more power over people in the private sector, in their homes. This is about the destruction of the US capitalist system as it exists. Because these people think it\u2019s immoral. They think it\u2019s unjust. They think it\u2019s unfair. Now, this Democratic House of Representatives is the farthest fringe radical left that this country has ever seen, particularly the majority. There have always been some of these type of radicals in the House, but they\u2019ve never run the thing. Now they are. And one of them is in the White House as well. This guy is no more interested in the truth… This staffer you spoke to, he\u2019s no more interested in the truth… He\u2019ll talk to you make you think he\u2019s concerned about the truth. He doesn\u2019t care. Van Hollen was going to vote yes on this no matter what. You coulda told Van Hollen that this vote will set off a nuclear detonation somewhere around the world and he\u2019d still vote for it.<\/p>\n

CALLER: (chuckles) Rush, can I tell you one more story related to this?<\/p>\n

RUSH: Yeah, sure.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Back in April I went to the tea party in Washington across from the White House and I happened to strike up a conversation with a gentleman standing near me. It turns out he\u2019s with the EPA, and I said to him, ‘Well, tell me what you think about carbon credits.\u2019 He rolled his eyes and said he learned a long time ago to be skeptical of his own agency\u2019s modeling. And I asked him, ‘Well, why don\u2019t you be a whistle-blower?\u2019 He said, ‘You know, I\u2019ve seen what happens to people so I\u2019m just going to lay low and try to keep people honest.\u2019 I just wanted to share that with you.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Yeah, well, and there has been a guy that submitted a report, what was his name, Carlin I think, it was. I have a mental block. I have the story. He\u2019s been on television. He\u2019s talking about this. I\u2019ll have to find it during the break. But he did. I wouldn\u2019t call him really a whistle-blower. He said inside the agency he said, ‘Hey, you know, the science here is not settled.\u2019 <\/p>\n

‘Shut up! And don\u2019t send your e-mail to anybody else, and stop talking about it.\u2019<\/p>\n

Look, what you ran into with Van Hollen\u2019s staff person, it\u2019s the same thing in the EPA on cap and trade. This is going to happen. It doesn\u2019t matter what the truth is. In fact, people that have the truth that can counter this are going to be censored, silenced, and shut up. Anybody who looks at all this with a Civics 101 mind-set is missing how this ballgame is being played right now. This is not about anything but the pure, unstoppable, 100% undiluted grab for power, socialist, Marx power that these people have died for. Not literally, but they have just been salivating over it since the sixties. And now they\u2019re there. And there aren\u2019t the numbers to stop them. The first chance to stop \u2019em is going to be 2010.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
